Can't access SBTPG account for TurboTax Cash App refund - anyone else having issues?
Filed my taxes through TurboTax on April 2nd and opted for the Cash App direct deposit option. IRS accepted my return on April 4th and I received my federal refund on April 15th. Now I'm trying to check on my state refund through the SBTPG website (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) since that's what TurboTax uses to process refunds, but I can't login at all. Every time I try to create an account or login with my existing credentials it gives me an error. Been trying for the past week with no luck. Tried different browsers, cleared cache, everything. This is my first year having trouble accessing their site. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there another way to check on my state refund status?

I've had the same issue since mid-April. SBTPG's system has been glitchy this year. For your state refund, I'd recommend checking directly with your state tax agency website instead. Most states have a "Where's My Refund" tool similar to the IRS. You'll need your SSN, filing status, and refund amount to check. The SBTPG site is mainly for seeing if your fees were taken out of your federal refund, but your state refund should go directly to whatever account you specified in your tax return. If you already got your federal, your state should be coming soon - they typically take a few weeks longer.

•Thanks! I checked my state's website but it just says "in process" for the last 3 weeks. Wasn't sure if that was normal or if something was wrong.

•That's pretty normal. State processing times vary widely but 3-6 weeks is typical. Some states are super backed up this year too.

•Yep, my NY refund took almost 8 weeks to process this year. Just keep checking the state site and be patient.

I was having the exact same problem trying to track my refund through SBTPG's site. Super frustrating!! I finally found a solution that worked for me – I started using taxr.ai and it was a total game changer. It helped me understand exactly where my refund was in the process and what was happening with SBTPG. It's insanely good! I use it every week now to keep track of all my tax stuff. Seriously check it out: https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It's WAY more than just reading transcripts. It analyzes everything – shows you exactly where your money is, explains all those confusing codes, tells you what's happening behind the scenes, and even predicts when you'll get your refund. Honestly saved me hours of stress and confusion!

•OMG I JUST TRIED THIS AND IT'S AMAZING! I've been pulling my hair out for weeks trying to figure out what was happening with my refund. taxr.ai explained everything in plain English and showed me exactly why my refund was delayed. Everyone dealing with tax issues needs to use this!! Can't believe I wasted so much time before finding it.

After struggling with the SBTPG website for days and getting nowhere with their customer service, I finally got someone on the phone who could help me track my refund. Used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an actual human at the IRS who could see what was happening with my refund and SBTPG. Best money I've ever spent to get my questions answered instead of waiting on hold forever. The agent explained that there was a processing delay with SBTPG but my refund was still coming - wouldn't have known that otherwise.

•Wait, does this actually work? I've been trying to reach the IRS for weeks 😫

•100% works. I was skeptical too but I was desperate. Got a callback within 30 mins and the agent fixed my issue on the spot. Talking to a real person at the IRS made all the difference.

•I've been calling the IRS for 3 weeks straight and never got through. Is this some kind of scam or what?

CosmicCadet
•Definitely not a scam. It basically navigates the IRS phone system for you and secures a callback. Was the only way I could actually talk to a live agent after weeks of trying.

•Just tried it - got a callback in 45 minutes! After weeks of nothing! My refund issue is finally getting resolved.

I'm having the EXACT same issue with SBTPG. Their website has been a mess all year. I called their customer service line (800-901-6663) and after waiting for like an hour, they told me there's a known issue with their website access this year that they're "working to resolve." So basically...we're all just stuck waiting. Super helpful, right? 🙄

The SBTPG site is absolute garbage this year. I literally couldn't get in for over a month. Try these troubleshooting steps: 1. Use desktop browser NOT mobile 2. Try private/incognito mode 3. Clear ALL cookies specifically for that site 4. Disable any adblockers or VPNs 5. Try Microsoft Edge (weirdly worked better than Chrome for me) If none of that works, call them directly but be prepared to wait forever. Also, check if your bank account shows any pending deposits - sometimes the money arrives even when the website shows nothing.

•I've tried all of those except Edge - will give that a shot! Thanks!

•This might sound weird but I also had success using my laptop on a different wifi network (went to Starbucks). Something about my home internet was causing issues with their site.

TurboTax switched to Cash App this year for a lot of people and it's been a disaster. Myself and 3 friends all had issues. Last year with SBTPG it was smooth, this year it's been a nightmare. For what it's worth, my state refund eventually showed up directly in my bank account even though I never saw any updates on SBTPG.

•Yup! Same here - money just appeared in my account with zero notification or updates on any website. The system is broken.

This might be a dumb question but are you 100% sure you're on the right website? The official SBTPG site is https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/ - there are some scam lookalike sites out there. Also make sure you're entering your info exactly as it appears on your tax return (case sensitive sometimes).

•Yeah I'm definitely on the right site - it's the one linked directly from TurboTax. Good looking out though!

I've filed with TurboTax for 6 yrs and this is by FAR the worst year for SBTPG issues. My theory is they weren't ready for the Cash App integration and their systems got overwhelmed. Just keep checking your actual bank account - my refund showed up there even though SBTPG never updated.

Forget SBTPG - I stopped wasting time with them and started using taxr.ai to track everything about my refund. It's like having a personal tax expert explain everything that's happening with your return. Saved me so much time and showed me why my refund was delayed (something SBTPG would never tell me). Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•another app to download? how is this any different from the 50 other tax trackers out there?

Ethan Clark
•It's completely different - it actually EXPLAINS everything instead of just showing status. It decodes all the IRS transcript codes, shows you exactly where your money is in the system, predicts when you'll get paid, and explains any delays. No other app does all that.

•Just checked it out and WOW. This is exactly what I needed. Finally understand why my refund was stuck! Thanks for sharing this gem!

Anybody try the mobile app vs website for SBTPG? I couldn't get the site to work at all but somehow the mobile app let me in after a couple tries. Might be worth a shot.

After dealing with SBTPG nightmare AND the Cash App integration mess, I finally got desperate enough to use Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach an IRS agent who could actually help. Talking to a live agent got my refund released so fast - they could see things in their system that weren't showing up anywhere online. Worth every penny to finally resolve my refund issues instead of waiting for broken websites to update.

•How does Claimyr work exactly? The IRS lines are always busy when I call.

Carmen Ruiz
•It navigates through the IRS phone system for you and secures a spot in the callback queue. I got a call back from an actual IRS agent in about 40 minutes after trying for WEEKS on my own with no success. The agent could see exactly what was happening with my refund and SBTPG.

•Do they just keep calling the IRS for you or something? Not understanding how this works

•They have a system that navigates through all the IRS phone prompts and holds your place in line. When an agent is available, you get a direct callback to your phone. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after weeks of busy signals and disconnects.

Pro tip: If you're using Chrome, try disabling all your extensions before accessing SBTPG. My ad blocker was somehow preventing the site from loading properly. After turning it off, I was able to login. Still a terribly designed website tho 🤦♂️

For anyone still struggling with SBTPG, I finally gave up and called TurboTax directly (800-446-8848). They confirmed there's an ongoing issue with SBTPG account access affecting a lot of customers. They advised checking my bank account directly as refunds are still being processed even though the website isn't updating properly. Sure enough, my state refund showed up yesterday even though SBTPG still shows nothing.

I've been in tax preparation for 10 years and this is BY FAR the worst I've seen SBTPG perform. Their integration with Cash App has been problematic all season. For clients experiencing this issue, I've been recommending they: 1. Check their state's direct "Where's My Refund" tool 2. Monitor their actual bank accounts for deposits 3. Know that state refunds typically take 2-8 weeks longer than federal 4. Consider that SBTPG only handles refunds if you paid your TurboTax fees from your refund If you paid for TurboTax upfront, SBTPG may not be involved with your state refund at all - it might go straight to your bank.

•Really helpful info - I did pay the TurboTax fees from my refund, so that makes sense why my state refund is going through SBTPG. I'll keep checking my bank account directly.

the TurboTax + Cash App + SBTPG unholy trinity has been the absolute WORST. after 3 weeks of trying to access my account I finally gave up and called the IRS directly. Was on hold for 2+ hours and then got disconnected 🤡 anyone got a better way to reach a human?

I'm done with TurboTax after this year's disaster with SBTPG. Anyone have recommendations for better tax filing services that don't use this terrible system?

•H&R Block online has been solid for me. Their refund tracking is way more reliable than the TurboTax/SBTPG nightmare.
