Can I verify ID at IRS office without waiting for verification letter?
I need to verify my identity with the IRS. Has anyone tried going to a local IRS office to verify before receiving the ID verification letter in the mail? I don't want to wait weeks for a letter when there's an office 20 minutes from my house.

You need to have the official letter for in-person verification. The IRS office won't be able to help without it. Your best bet is to try ID.me online verification first - it's faster than waiting for the letter and most people can complete it successfully.

PSA: If anyone else is stuck in verification limbo, check ur transcripts regularly. Sometimes they update the status there b4 sending letters
