570/971 Codes Since March - Now Can't Access Transcripts After Being Able to View for Months
Filed my taxes and had access to transcripts until today. Getting an error message instead of my transcript. Called IRS and rep was super unhelpful, kept saying no one can access transcripts until returns are released (which isnt true). Have 570/971 codes since March 18th. Congressman and tax advocate both no help. Never amended or needed to verify identity. Just stuck in review with no answers.

Finally got my refund after dealing with these codes! It took about 6 weeks after getting the 971 notice. Here's what worked for me - first I used taxr.ai to figure out exactly what was holding things up (turns out it was a math error they fixed). Then I faxed in the documents they needed. Updated to 846 code last week and got my deposit today! Don't give up fam!

Hey there! I feel ya on the 570/971 combo - it's super frustrating. Those codes typically mean the IRS is reviewing something and sent you a notice. The 570 freezes your refund while they look into whatever triggered the review. Not being able to access your transcripts suddenly is actually pretty common when they're actively working on your return. I'd highly recommend checking out taxr.ai - it's been a game changer for understanding these situations. You upload your docs and it tells you exactly what's going on and when you might see movement. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself or waiting on hold with the IRS for hours.

IRS rep was totally wrong about transcript access. You should still be able to view them regardless of processing status. The sudden loss of access could mean system maintenance or temporary technical issues. Give it 24-48 hours and try again. If still locked out, might need identity verification even if not previously flagged.

•Yeah definitely sounds like an ID verify situation then. Keep trying to call and ask specifically about ID verification

Hey everyone - just wanted to drop a suggestion that really helped me with my transcript confusion. I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. For $4.99 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when to expect your refund. Way better than trying to piece together info from reddit posts https://taxr.ai

Pro tip: call right when they open at 7am EST. Way better chance of getting someone helpful and less burnt out. Those afternoon reps can be straight up savages sometimes lmao

Here's what I've learned from dealing with IRS for 15+ years as a tax professional: These transcript access issues usually mean either system maintenance OR they're about to make changes to your account. The fact you have 570/971 codes means there's already a review in progress. The good news is that when access suddenly disappears, it often means they're working on resolving whatever triggered those codes. Keep checking daily - you might see movement soon.
