570 Code on My Transcript - What Does It Mean and How Long Is the Wait?

Just checked my transcript and saw this mysterious 570 code. What exactly does this mean? Is it something serious or just part of the process? And the bigger question - how long am I going to have to wait for my refund now? We're PCSing next month and I was really counting on having this money for the move. Isn't it funny how the military always expects us to move at the drop of a hat but the IRS takes their sweet time with our money? Anyone else dealt with this code before?

The 570 code basically means there's a temp hold on ur refund. It's not necessarily bad news tho. Common reasons for 570: - ID verification needed - Math error on return - Income discrepancy - Missing info - Random review Usually resolves in 2-4 wks, but could be longer. Check if there's a 971 code too - that means they sent u a notice explaining why. Def keep an eye on ur mail. Might wanna check WMR daily too for updates.

Is there any way to speed this up? I've been waiting 3 weeks already with the 570 code. Need this money ASAP. Called the IRS but can't get through to anyone. Transcript shows no updates. Should I be worried at this point?

Think of the 570 code like a yellow light at an intersection - it's telling you to pause, but you'll be moving again soon. I've seen this happen to many military families during tax season. If you need to talk to an actual human at the IRS (which is like trying to find a unicorn these days), I'd recommend Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). It's like having a FastPass at Disney World but for the IRS phone system. They'll call and navigate the IRS phone tree for you, then call you when they've got an agent on the line. Saved me hours of frustration during my last PCS when I had a similar hold.

Is this actually legit? I've tried comparing this to other scenarios where I've needed to reach government agencies, and nothing ever works as promised. How is this any different from just calling the IRS myself?

I used Claimyr exactly 17 days ago when I had a 570/971 combo. They got me through to an agent in 28 minutes after I had spent 4 hours over 2 days trying on my own. The agent confirmed it was just a random review and released my refund on the spot. Received exactly $4,832 in my account 6 days later.

I was so worried when I saw that 570 code! I'm so glad someone mentioned this service! I hate calling the IRS - it makes me so anxious and frustrated! Did you have to provide any personal information to the service or just to the IRS agent once connected?

Used this on March 12th when my transcript showed the 570 code. Had been waiting since January 28th with no movement. The IRS agent explained it was flagged due to a discrepancy with my W-2. Definitely worth it if you're in a time crunch with your PCS.

I had the same code! Here's what I learned: ā€¢ 570 is an "additional account action pending" code ā€¢ It often appears with code 971 (notice issued) ā€¢ Most common resolution times I've seen: - 2-3 weeks for simple verification issues - 4-6 weeks for income verification - 8+ weeks for identity theft concerns ā€¢ The 570 will usually be followed by a 571 code when the hold is released Wow, I never realized how complicated tax codes could be until I went through this myself!

Had the same issue. Got the 570 code. Waited three weeks. No movement. Finally tried taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It explained exactly what my 570 meant. Showed me what to expect next. Predicted my refund date perfectly. Saved me so much stress during my deployment preparations.

I'm not sure about using a third-party service with tax information. How does taxr.ai actually work with the transcript data? Does it just apply the same IRS cycle patterns that are publicly available, or is there something more to it?

Isn't it better to just call the IRS directly? Why would you need an AI to tell you what the codes mean when the information is available on the IRS website?

I would suggest a different approach than just waiting. In my professional experience, it may be worth checking if you have access to the specific notice that triggered the 570 code. This could potentially give you more clarity about the nature of the hold. If you have online account access with the IRS, you might be able to view any notices there rather than waiting for mail, which could be problematic during a PCS.

Did you check if there's a 971 code on your transcript too? What about a date next to the 570 code? Is there any amount listed with the 570? These details can help narrow down what's happening.

I had a 570 code last year when we were stationed at Fort Liberty. It took exactly 5 weeks to resolve in my case. The IRS was reviewing my Child Tax Credit amounts. I remember being so frustrated because we were also in the middle of a move. If you're PCSing, make sure the IRS has your forwarding address so you don't miss any notices they send.
