570 Code on Transcript - Anyone Get Updates or Resolution?
Just checked my transcript and saw a 570 code. It's like when you're waiting for a package that shows 'delivery attempted' but nothing actually happened. Has anyone who got this code found out anything concrete? I'm new to all this tax transcript stuff, but from what I've gathered online, it seems like it could mean a delay or review? Wondering how this compares to previous filing seasons and if anyone has had success moving past this stage. Thanks in advance for any insights you all can provide!

I've had the 570 code for about a week now... From what I understand, it *might* mean they're reviewing something on your return. Could be verification of income, credits claimed, or possibly identity verification. I'm hesitant to say for sure, but many people seem to get a 571 code afterward which releases the hold. Then again, some people get additional notices...

Oh my goodness, this is making me so nervous! 😰 Did you end up getting any other codes after the 570? I'm wondering if I should be expecting a letter in the mail or something?

This is really helpful info. I just checked my transcript on March 22nd and saw the 570 code too. I'm impressed with how much everyone here knows about these codes! The IRS website is so vague about what they actually mean in practice.

I've seen this pattern play out numerous times this filing season. The 570 is typically followed by a 571 release code within 2-3 weeks for most filers, similar to what happened in the 2022 season when there was that backlog of reviews. In my case, I had a 570 appear on February 16th, then exactly 14 days later got the 571 code and my refund was issued the following week. It's almost always a temporary hold while they verify something.

I got a 570 code last month. Call them. Don't wait. I waited three weeks thinking it would resolve itself. It didn't. When I finally called, there was a simple verification they needed. Fixed it right there on the phone. Got my refund a week later. Don't make my mistake.

I spent 4 days trying to reach the IRS after getting a 570 code. Kept getting disconnected or told to call back later. Has anyone actually managed to get through? I finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 25 minutes. But now I'm wondering - did talking to the agent actually help speed things up? Or would it have resolved on its own anyway? The agent said my return was under review but couldn't tell me why or how long it would take. Is calling even worth it?

Got a 570 code back in Feb. Freaked out at first ngl. Here's what happened: - Feb 12: Filed return - Feb 28: 570 code appeared - Mar 7: Got a CP05 notice saying they were reviewing - Mar 21: 571 code appeared (release) - Mar 28: DDD set and $ arrived Total wait was ~6 wks from filing. No action needed on my part. They were just double-checking my W2 info. Seems like they're doing more random reviews this yr. Just gotta wait it out sometimes.

Do you think I should possibly wait longer before taking action? My 570 code appeared approximately 10 days ago, and I'm somewhat concerned about potentially missing something important.

Thank you for the timeline. This helps a lot. Makes me feel better. Good to see real examples. Hoping mine follows similar pattern.

I had almost the exact same experience last year. Got the 570, then the CP05 notice, then eventually the 571. The IRS is just being more careful with verification these days.

Did your transcript show any TC 971 codes along with the 570? I'm seeing both on mine and trying to determine if this indicates a notice was already sent or if it's still pending.

I've been stuck with a 570 code for exactly 37 days now. Called the IRS 4 times. Each time they said something different. First it was "just wait 21 days." Then it was "we need to verify your identity." Then "we're reviewing your return." Now it's "we're missing information from your employer." I'm out $4,623 that I desperately need for medical bills. My advice? Call ASAP and keep detailed notes of every conversation including agent ID numbers. Their system is completely broken this year.

Just to clarify for everyone - a 570 code means "additional account action pending" which could be many different things. Have you checked if there's a 971 code as well? That would indicate a notice was sent. Did you claim any credits like EITC or CTC? Those can trigger automatic reviews, right? And have you verified that your transcript shows the correct address in case they're trying to contact you?

The 570 code is like a yellow traffic light in the IRS processing system - it's not a full stop, just a pause while they check something. I've seen this happen to many people this tax season. The good news is that for most folks, it resolves within 2-3 weeks without any action needed. Think of it as your return going through an extra security checkpoint at the airport - annoying but usually just a brief delay. If you're worried, you can always call, but be prepared for a long wait or busy signals - it's like trying to get concert tickets when they first go on sale.
