2023 Tax Return Stuck - Only As Of Date Changed on Transcript
My transcript has been dead silent for weeks except the as of date keeps moving. First it was March 4, then March 11, and now March 25. No other updates or changes. No codes, no movement, nothing. Starting to get worried since I filed back in January. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hey there, after looking at many transcripts over the years, I can tell you that the As-Of date changing by itself doesn't necessarily mean anything is happening with your return. It's usually just an automated system update. However, if you're worried about your return being stuck, I'd highly recommend checking out taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai). It's this new AI tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when you can expect movement. Way better than trying to decode the transcript yourself tbh

•Just tried taxr.ai and here's what I got back: It analyzed my transcript and showed my return is actually under review but should be done by 2/15. Even showed me exactly which codes to watch for!

The as of date changes don't really mean anything significant. It's just an automated system cycle date. What matters are the actual transaction codes on your transcript. Without seeing those, it's hard to tell where you're at in the process.

•Yeah unfortunately those date changes give false hope to alot of people. The IRS really needs to be more transparent about what these things mean

Look for cycle codes ending in 05. Those usually update on Thursday nights/Friday mornings. If yours ends in 01-04, updates happen daily.

•It should be on your account transcript, looks like a long number usually starting with 2024

Called the IRS about this exact thing last week. They said as long as theres no errors or review codes, its just moving through the system. But like... moving WHERE? 😤

Ugh, I feel your pain! Same thing happened to me last year - the as-of date kept changing every week or so but literally nothing else moved on my transcript. It's so frustrating because you think something is happening but it's just the system doing its thing. From what I've learned, those date changes are basically meaningless - it's just the IRS updating their internal processing dates. The real movement comes from transaction codes appearing. Have you tried calling the taxpayer advocate service? They might be able to give you more insight into what's actually going on with your return since you filed back in January.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm definitely going to look into the taxpayer advocate service - didn't even know that was a thing. It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing. Did your return eventually process normally after all those date changes? I'm trying to stay patient but it's hard when you're expecting that refund 😅
