2023 IRS Tax Refund Status: Months of Silence - Any Advice?
Hey everyone, I'm still waiting on info about my 2023 taxes. It's been months and I haven't heard anything back from the IRS. Anyone else in the same boat or have any advice on how to check the status? I'm getting worried and could really use some help.

Ugh, I feel ya. The IRS is such a mess this year. Have you tried checking the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? It's not perfect, but it might give you some info.

•Yeah, I've been checking that tool almost daily. It just says 'Your tax return is still being processed.' Not very helpful 😞

•Same here! That tool is about as useful as a chocolate teapot 🍫☕️

•Pro tip: Try checking it at different times of the day. Sometimes it updates randomly and you might catch new info.

I was in the same situation last year. What worked for me was calling the IRS directly. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

•Hours? More like days! 😂 Last time I tried, I was on hold so long I grew a beard and wrote a novel.

•I found a way around the endless hold times. There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the IRS, waits on hold, and then calls you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Yep, I've used it twice now. Totally legit. Saved my sanity both times 👍

•Idk man, paying to talk to the IRS? Seems sketchy...

•I get the skepticism, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for 3+ hours was well worth the $20.

Have you received any letters from the IRS? Sometimes they send requests for additional information that can hold up your refund.

OK, tax professional here. Let me break this down for you: 1. First, make sure you actually filed your taxes. Sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised. 2. Check the 'Where's My Refund' tool, but don't rely on it entirely. It's not always up to date. 3. If it's been more than 21 days since you e-filed (or 6 weeks for paper filing), you can call the IRS directly. 4. Before calling, gather all your documents: W-2s, 1099s, your filed return, etc. 5. Be patient. The IRS is dealing with millions of returns. 6. If you get through to someone, be polite. They're just doing their job. 7. If there's an issue, they'll let you know what additional info they need. Remember, no news is often good news. If there was a major problem, they would have contacted you.

•This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit. So much good info here!

Plot twist: the IRS is actually a front for a secret government time travel experiment, and they're using our tax money to fund it. That's why everything takes so long - they're literally lost in time! 👽🕰️

Has anyone tried faxing the IRS? I heard sometimes that can get a faster response.

•What year is it, 1995? Who even has a fax machine anymore? 📠💀

•You'd be surprised. Some gov agencies still rely heavily on fax. It's worth a shot!

I'm in the exact same situation. Filed in February, still nothing. This is ridiculous. The government can take our money instantly but takes forever to give it back. 🙄

Have you checked your tax transcript on the IRS website? Sometimes it shows more detailed info than the 'Where's My Refund' tool.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should just be grateful we're getting a refund at all? I mean, it's technically our money, but still...

•Nah, that's our money. We have every right to know where it is and when we're getting it back.
