Stuck on 'processing' for tax refund - tips to contact IRS?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check the status of my tax refund but I'm having trouble getting through to anyone. I filed my return a while ago and still haven't received anything. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any tips on how to actually get in touch with someone at the tax office? I'm starting to get worried and could really use some advice.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been trying to get through to them for weeks. It's like they don't want us to get our money back š Have you tried checking the online portal? Sometimes it updates before you hear anything.

ā¢Oof, that sucks. Hang in there! Maybe try calling first thing in the morning? I heard that's when the lines are least busy.

I actually found a way to get through to someone! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then calls you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/XbqD8mexcoQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

ā¢I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it works. Saved me hours of hold time!

ā¢Interesting. How long did it take for them to get through?

ā¢It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what I've learned from my experience: ⢠Check the "Where's My Refund" tool on the IRS website first ⢠If it's been more than 21 days since you e-filed (or 6 weeks for paper filing), then you can call ⢠Best times to call are early morning or just before they close ⢠Be prepared with all your info (SSN, filing status, exact refund amount) ⢠If you can't get through, try contacting your local Taxpayer Advocate Service Hope this helps! It's a frustrating process, but hang in there.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with the IRS.

ā¢I hadn't thought of that! How would I go about contacting them?

ā¢Just google your state and 'congressional representative'. Most have a form on their website where you can request help with federal agencies. Worth a shot!

Guys, I think I figured it out. You need to sacrifice a goat under a full moon while chanting the tax code. Works every time 60% of the time š

ā¢Instructions unclear, accidentally summoned an IRS auditor instead š

ā¢Oops, my bad! Forgot to mention you need to use organic, free-range goat. Rookie mistake š

I'm in the same boat. Filed in March, still nothing. This is ridiculous. Don't they realize people depend on these refunds?

Pro tip: if you filed electronically, check your tax software account. Sometimes they have more detailed status updates than the IRS website.
