2023 IRS Tax Refund Delay: No Response After Months of Waiting - What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my tax refund and I'm not sure what to do. I filed my 2023 return a while back and I still haven't received my refund. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get in touch with the IRS or what steps I should take next? I'm starting to get worried and could really use some help.

Ugh, welcome to the club. I filed back in February and still nothing. The IRS is a mess this year.

•Yep, I'm in the same boat. Filed in April and not a peep. Starting to wonder if they lost my return or something.

•Glad (but also not glad) to hear I'm not alone. Anyone know if there's a way to check the status of our refunds?

Have you tried checking the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? That's usually the first place to start.

•Yeah, I've been checking that tool almost daily. It just says 'Your return is still being processed.' Not very helpful 😕

•Ah, gotcha. Yeah, that's pretty vague. Might be time to try calling them directly then.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep but might be worth it if it actually gets you through.

•Yeah, it worked for me! I was skeptical at first too, but after spending hours trying to get through myself, it was worth every penny.

•Idk man, sounds kinda sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They even have a money-back guarantee if you don't get connected. Saved me a ton of time and frustration.

Here's what I know about the current IRS situation and some steps you can take: 1. The IRS is severely backlogged due to staffing shortages and COVID-related issues. 2. If you e-filed and it's been more than 21 days, or 6 weeks for paper filing, you can try calling the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040. 3. Make sure there weren't any errors on your return. Simple mistakes can delay processing. 4. If you claimed certain credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, your refund might be delayed for additional review. 5. Check if you received any letters from the IRS requesting additional information. 6. If all else fails, you can contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service for help. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try calling that number. Do you know what their hours are?

•You're welcome! The IRS phone lines are open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. But be prepared for long wait times, especially during peak hours.

Seriously, the IRS needs to get their act together. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get our own money back. 🤬

Has anyone tried contacting their local congressman's office? Sometimes they can help push things along with federal agencies.

•This! I did this last year when I had issues and it actually helped. Worth a shot if nothing else works.

Plot twist: the IRS is using our refunds to fund a secret space program 👽🛸

Just a heads up, if you owed any back taxes or have other federal debts (like student loans), they might have applied your refund to those. Might be worth checking into that as well.
