IRS sent notice for tax refund but never received it - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my tax refund. The IRS sent out a notice that I need to fill out, but I never received it. I've already submitted everything I can think of, but I haven't gotten any follow-up. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do to finally get my refund?

Ugh, dealing with the IRS is such a pain. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through.

•Calling is useless these days. I was on hold for 3 hours last week and then got disconnected 🤬

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I got through to an agent in about an hour without having to sit by my phone.

•$20 just to talk to the IRS? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Have you checked your online account on the IRS website? Sometimes they post notices there that don't make it through snail mail.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting on my refund for months now. The whole system is a joke.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online IRS account for any notices 2. Verify your mailing address is correct 3. If you can't find the notice, call the IRS and request a copy 4. While on the phone, ask for a status update on your refund 5. If they say they need more information, ask exactly what they need and how to submit it 6. Keep detailed records of all communications 7. If you still can't resolve it, consider contacting the Taxpayer Advocate Service Remember, persistence is key when dealing with the IRS. Don't give up!

Anyone else think its crazy that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get our own money back? The system is rigged, man.

•Totally agree. It's like they're playing keep-away with our refunds.

I went through something similar last year. What helped me was creating an online IRS account if you haven't already - you can view and download copies of notices they've sent. Also, make sure to check if your address on file with them is correct (you can update it online too). If the notice is about additional documentation they need, you can often upload it directly through the online portal rather than mailing it. Way faster than waiting for snail mail back and forth!
