DEO login stuck after ID.me - Authenticator app not generating codes

I just completed the whole ID.me verification process for my unemployment claim yesterday (took forever!) and thought I was FINALLY done with that nightmare. But now when I try to log into my DEO CONNECT account, it's telling me I need to use an 'Authenticator app' to get a code?? I downloaded Google Authenticator like it said but the app isn't generating any code for my DEO account. I've tried refreshing, closing and reopening the app, even uninstalled and reinstalled it, but NOTHING. The app shows no accounts at all! Has anyone else dealt with this? I've been trying to access my account for 3 days straight and I'm about to lose my mind!!!! My rent is due next week and I NEED to get my claim weeks filed. The DEO phone line just disconnects me every single time. HELP!!!!

The same exact thing happened to me last month! The authenticator setup is a completely separate step after ID.me verification. You have to scan a QR code from the DEO site to link the authenticator app to your account. When you log in, there should be a page with instructions and a QR code before it asks for the authentication code. If you're not seeing that QR code page and it's just asking for a code with no setup, your session might be timing out or there could be a browser issue. Try using a different browser (Chrome works best for me) or clearing your cookies/cache. I was stuck on this for days but finally got through by using Claimyr to reach an actual DEO agent who walked me through it. Their video demo (https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj) shows how it works. The service helps you get through to a real person instead of getting disconnected all day. Got my authenticator working in like 10 minutes after the agent helped me.

Omg I never saw any QR code page at all!! Just went straight to asking for a code. I'll try Chrome instead of Safari and see if that helps. How long did it take you to get through to someone with that Claimyr thing? I'm desperate at this point and will try anything.

You're probably missing a step in the 2-factor authentication setup. Here's what to do: 1. Clear your browser cache completely 2. Use Chrome or Firefox (DEO site has issues with Safari) 3. Go to connect.myflorida.com 4. Log in with your normal credentials 5. You should see a 2FA setup page with QR code 6. Scan that with Google Authenticator 7. The app will then start generating 6-digit codes 8. Enter that code on the DEO site If you still don't see the QR code setup page, your account might be in a weird state. Unfortunately you'll need to call DEO directly at 833-FL-APPLY and have them reset your 2FA setup.

This is completely WRONG information. The DEO isn't using Google Authenticator anymore in 2025! They switched to their own SMS verification system in January. There is NO QR CODE anymore!!! The OP needs to call the technical support line at 833-352-7759 to get their phone number properly linked to their account. I just went through this whole mess 2 weeks ago.

have the xact same problm!!! been locked out for 9 DAYS!!! missed filing my weeks and now idk if ill even get paid this month... deo is garbage

I had this exact same problem and it turned out to be because I wasn't completing the full verification process. When you first go to the DEO site and enter your login, it redirects you to ID.me, but after completing that, you're supposed to be redirected BACK to DEO to complete the 2FA setup. If your browser blocked the redirect or if you closed the window, you'll be stuck in limbo. For anyone experiencing this: you need to completely log out of both DEO and ID.me, clear your browser cookies, and start from scratch. Use Chrome in incognito mode for best results. When you get to the authentication app setup page, you absolutely must follow all the steps in order without closing the window. If that doesn't work, you'll need to call DEO at 833-FL-APPLY (833-352-7759) and request a 2FA reset. Good luck getting through though - I had to call over 30 times before I didn't get disconnected.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! I'm going to try the incognito mode trick right now and see if that helps. I definitely might have closed a window during the process - this whole system is so frustrating!

Let's stick to helping OP with their authenticator issue. You should make a separate post about payment delays.

I work in IT and deal with these authentication issues all the time. Here's what's happening: 1) The DEO system requires SPECIFIC timing when setting up 2FA 2) If you completed ID.me but didn't immediately continue to the next step, the system gets confused 3) You're now stuck in a partial verification state The only reliable fix is to have a DEO agent reset your authentication status in their system. Unfortunately, calling the main line is nearly impossible these days. I recommend using claimyr.com - it's a service that helps you get through to a DEO agent without the endless busy signals. I've referred several friends to it who all got their authentication issues fixed within a day. Once you reach an agent, specifically ask them to "reset the multi-factor authentication status" on your account. They'll know what to do from there.

Thank you for explaining what's happening! I definitely didn't realize there was a timing issue with the verification steps. I'm going to try calling them once more myself today, but if I can't get through I'll check out that service. Have you used it personally? Just curious how quickly you got connected to an agent.

Yes, I've used it twice - once for my own claim and once helping my brother. Both times I was connected to an agent within 15-20 minutes. The regular DEO line had me on hold for 3+ hours before dropping the call entirely. Just make sure you have your claimant ID and all your account info ready when they connect you.

UPDATE: I tried everything everyone suggested here but NOTHING worked. I ended up using Claimyr this morning (claimyr.com) and got through to a DEO agent in about 25 minutes. The agent told me my account was stuck in a "partial verification state" exactly like someone mentioned above. She reset something on their end, and I immediately got a text with a link to complete the 2FA setup properly. I'm now able to access my CONNECT account again! For anyone else dealing with this - you HAVE to talk to a DEO agent to fix it. The online self-service options won't work once you're stuck in this state.

Thank you for the update!! This gives me hope! I'm going to try Claimyr first thing tomorrow morning. The DEO phone line disconnected me 6 more times today. Did they charge you a lot for the service?

It was worth every penny considering I was about to miss filing my weeks! Plus they don't charge if they can't get you through to someone. Definitely better than spending hours getting disconnected.

SOLVED!!! Thank you to everyone who helped! I used Claimyr this morning and got through to a DEO agent in about 30 minutes. Turns out my account was stuck in exactly that "partial verification" state that was mentioned. The agent reset my 2FA settings completely, and I got a text message with a link to properly set up authentication. Now I can log in with no problems and I was able to claim my weeks! Such a relief! For anyone else with this problem - don't waste days trying to figure it out yourself like I did. You need to talk to a DEO agent to fix it since it's a problem on their end.

This EXACT issue has been happening to hundreds of people since they updated the system in January. Glad you got it fixed! Make sure you screenshot your claim confirmations going forward - the system is super glitchy right now.

Wow, I'm so glad you got this resolved Miguel! I've been following this thread because I'm having the exact same issue - completed ID.me verification but getting stuck at the authenticator step with no QR code showing up. It's such a relief to see that there's actually a solution and it's not something I'm doing wrong. I've been trying to get through to DEO for over a week now and getting disconnected every single time. Based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like Claimyr is definitely the way to go. The fact that multiple people had success with it gives me confidence it's legit. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions here - this community is a lifesaver when dealing with DEO's broken systems!

I'm in the same boat as you and Miguel were! Just finished my ID.me verification yesterday and now I'm stuck at this authenticator step too. It's so frustrating that this is such a common issue but there's no clear instructions anywhere on the DEO site about what to do when you get stuck like this. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been super helpful - sounds like this "partial verification state" thing is a real system bug they need to fix on their end. I was starting to think I was going crazy trying every browser and clearing cache 100 times! Going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning since it seems like that's the only reliable way to actually reach someone at DEO. Thank you all for sharing your solutions - this thread is going to save me days of banging my head against the wall!

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with this exact same authenticator issue right now - completed ID.me yesterday and now I'm stuck at the 2FA step with no QR code appearing. I've been trying different browsers and clearing cache for hours but nothing works. It's really frustrating that this "partial verification state" bug seems to be affecting so many people, but I'm relieved to know it's not just me doing something wrong. The fact that multiple people here got it resolved by talking to a DEO agent gives me hope. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning since calling the regular DEO line has been completely useless - just endless busy signals and disconnections. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions, especially Miguel for posting the update after getting it fixed!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Just finished my ID.me verification two days ago and I'm completely stuck at this authenticator step. Like you said, no QR code shows up at all - just a blank page asking for a code that I have no way to get. I've tried every browser, cleared everything, even tried on my phone and nothing works. It's such a relief to find this thread and realize this is a known system bug affecting tons of people. I was starting to think I somehow messed up during the ID.me process or that my account was broken forever. The "partial verification state" explanation makes so much sense - explains why nothing I try on my end fixes it. Definitely planning to use Claimyr first thing tomorrow morning since everyone here had success with it. The regular DEO phone line has been absolutely useless - I've called probably 50 times over the past two days and either get a busy signal or get disconnected after being on hold. So frustrating when you just need someone to reset something simple on their end! Thanks to Miguel and everyone else for documenting the solution here - this community is a lifesaver when dealing with DEO's broken systems!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Just went through the entire ID.me verification process yesterday (what a nightmare that was) and now I'm completely stuck at this authenticator step. No QR code shows up anywhere - just a page asking for a code that I have no way to generate. I've tried everything suggested here - different browsers, clearing cache, incognito mode, reinstalling Google Authenticator multiple times - absolutely nothing works. It's so frustrating because I can see my account is verified through ID.me but I just can't get past this final step. Reading through all the responses here has been such a relief though - knowing this "partial verification state" is a real system bug and not something I'm doing wrong. The fact that multiple people got it resolved by reaching a DEO agent gives me hope. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning since the regular DEO phone line has been completely useless. I've called probably 40+ times over the past three days and either get a busy signal immediately or get disconnected after waiting on hold for hours. Thanks to Miguel and everyone else for sharing your experiences and the solution - this thread is going to save me so much time and stress! Will update once I hopefully get through to an agent.

I'm in the exact same situation! Just finished my ID.me verification yesterday and I'm stuck at this authenticator step with no QR code appearing. It's so frustrating because you think you're finally done with the verification nightmare and then hit this wall. I've been reading through this entire thread and it's been incredibly helpful to understand what's actually happening. The "partial verification state" explanation makes perfect sense - I was starting to think my account was permanently broken or that I missed some crucial step during ID.me. Like you, I've tried every browser trick imaginable and called the DEO line countless times only to get disconnected. Based on everyone's success stories here, I'm definitely going to try Claimyr first thing tomorrow morning too. Thanks for documenting your experience Owen - it helps to know we're all dealing with the same system bug. Hopefully we can both get this resolved quickly like Miguel did!
