Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm going to file today. Sounds like it might be cutting it close with the timing, but worth trying. I'll make sure to be clear about the "business needs" reason consistently. And I'll definitely check out that Claimyr service if I run into trouble getting through to DEO. Really appreciate all the help!
Just wanted to add one more thing that might help - if you're worried about the timing, you can also call the DEO customer service line at 1-833-FL-APPLY (1-833-352-7759) to check on your claim status once you submit it. They're usually swamped but sometimes you can get through early in the morning (like 7-8 AM). Also, even if your benefits don't arrive before you start your new job, they'll still be backdated to cover those eligible weeks. So don't stress too much about the timing - just get that application in ASAP and let the process work. You've got this!
That's really good advice about calling early in the morning! I didn't know about that timing tip. One question though - do they actually answer the phone or is it just as frustrating as trying to get through the website? I've heard horror stories about people being on hold for hours only to get disconnected.
As someone brand new to this community and the Florida unemployment system, this entire thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I just filed my first claim a few weeks ago and had no idea that these "on hold" situations were so common. What really stands out to me is how everyone here has basically had to become experts on workarounds for a system that should just work properly. The fact that @Luca Esposito got his payment but CONNECT still showed "on hold" perfectly illustrates how unreliable the official system is. I'm taking notes on all the practical advice shared here - checking payment methods directly instead of trusting CONNECT status, the 2-4 week timeline for mysterious holds to resolve, optimal calling times, and resources like the monetary reconsideration option. This is exactly the kind of real-world knowledge that new claimants desperately need but can't find anywhere in DEO's official guidance. It's both frustrating and comforting to see how this community has come together to fill the information gaps left by the DEO's poor communication. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - you're helping so many people understand what to expect and feel less alone in dealing with this confusing process!
Welcome to the community, @Amina Diop! You've really captured what makes this thread so valuable - it's like a crash course in DEO reality that you just can't get anywhere else. As another newcomer, I'm also amazed at how this community has essentially created its own survival guide for navigating a system that seems designed to confuse people. The disconnect between what CONNECT shows and what actually happens (like @Luca Esposito's payment coming through while the status stayed "on hold") is mind-boggling. I'm definitely bookmarking this thread as my go-to reference for understanding what's normal versus what requires action. The practical tips everyone has shared - from @Vanessa Figueroa's calling time advice to @Mateo Rodriguez's monetary reconsideration option - are pure gold for people like us who are just starting to navigate this system. It gives me hope knowing there's such a supportive community here ready to help newcomers understand what to expect. Thanks for joining and sharing your perspective - the more voices we have documenting these experiences, the better we can all prepare for and handle whatever the DEO system throws at us!
As a newcomer to this community, I'm so grateful to have found this thread! I'm currently dealing with my first unemployment claim and was completely bewildered when one of my weeks went "on hold" with absolutely no explanation from DEO. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring - especially @Luca Esposito's update that the payment eventually came through after 3 weeks even though CONNECT never updated properly. That gives me hope that my held week isn't just lost forever! The practical advice shared here is invaluable - I had no idea about checking my actual payment method instead of trusting what CONNECT shows, or about resources like the monetary reconsideration option @Mateo Rodriguez mentioned. It's clear that successfully navigating the DEO system requires this kind of community knowledge that you simply can't get from their official resources. This thread perfectly demonstrates why this community is so important - real people sharing real experiences and actionable advice for dealing with a confusing and often frustrating system. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help others understand what to expect. It really helps newcomers like me feel less alone in this process!
Welcome to the community, @Miranda Singer! I'm also new here and completely relate to that bewildering feeling when you see "on hold" with zero explanation. This thread has been such a lifesaver for understanding that these mysterious holds are unfortunately just part of how the DEO system operates. What really struck me reading through everyone's experiences is how this community has essentially created a parallel support system because the official DEO resources are so inadequate. The fact that @Luca Esposito's payment came through while CONNECT still showed "on hold" perfectly illustrates why we can't rely on their system status updates. I'm definitely implementing the advice about checking payment methods directly rather than trusting what the website shows. It's frustrating that we have to use these workarounds, but I'm so grateful this community exists to share them. The 2-4 week timeline that multiple people have mentioned gives me realistic expectations for my own held week. Thanks for adding your voice here - the more newcomers who share these experiences, the better we can all support each other through this confusing process!
This entire thread is a masterpiece of community problem-solving! @PrinceJoe your journey from frustration to resolution perfectly illustrates why we need spaces like this - the official DEO system fails people, but collective knowledge and persistence can crack these cases wide open. What strikes me most is how this "Voluntary Quit" coding error seems almost systematic at this point. Between your case and all the others who discovered the same issue after reading your story, it makes me wonder if there's a specific question or interface element in the CONNECT application that's consistently misleading people. The diagnostic approach that emerged here - checking separation coding first, then systematically working through determination status, fact-finding sections, and document uploads - should honestly be the official DEO troubleshooting guide. Instead, we have a community of stressed-out people becoming amateur investigators just to get basic information about their own claims. @Sophie Footman @Owen Devar and others created what's essentially a crowd-sourced solution to a government system failure. That's both inspiring and deeply concerning about the state of our unemployment infrastructure. Really hoping your back pay comes through quickly and that this thread continues helping others escape adjudication purgatory. Stories like this restore some faith in the power of community support when institutions let us down.
@Natasha Volkova You ve'perfectly captured what makes this thread so valuable! As someone who just joined this community after stumbling across this post while desperately searching for DEO help, I m'amazed by the collaborative detective work that happened here. @PrinceJoe s'persistence combined with everyone s'troubleshooting expertise created something way more useful than anything on the official DEO website. The fact that multiple people discovered they had the same Voluntary "Quit coding" error after reading this thread is both helpful and alarming - it really does suggest a systemic problem with the application interface. I m'currently on week 2 of my own adjudication and you can bet I m'going straight to check my separation coding after reading all this! This community is proving to be more reliable than the actual government system we re'trying to navigate.
This thread is absolutely incredible - what started as one person's frustration turned into a comprehensive troubleshooting guide that's probably helped dozens of people! @PrinceJoe your persistence really paid off, and I love how the community rallied around you to systematically solve the problem. I'm currently on week 3 of adjudication and was getting really discouraged until I found this thread. Just checked my separation coding and BINGO - shows "Voluntary Quit" when I was actually terminated due to company restructuring. Can't believe such a simple application error has caused weeks of financial stress! Already uploaded my termination letter and sent the message using @Sophie Footman's exact wording. Planning to try that 7:30am call strategy tomorrow. This thread should honestly be the unofficial DEO survival guide - you all figured out more useful troubleshooting steps than the official system provides. Thank you for sharing this journey and giving the rest of us a roadmap out of adjudication hell!
@Kelsey Hawkins So glad this thread helped you identify the same issue! It s'incredible how many people are discovering they have that Voluntary "Quit coding" error - there s'definitely something wrong with how the CONNECT application is designed if this many people are accidentally selecting the wrong separation reason. You re'totally on the right track with uploading your termination letter and using Sophie s'message template. That 7:30am call strategy seems to be the sweet spot for actually getting through to someone who can make the correction. Fingers crossed you get this resolved quickly now that you know exactly what the problem is! This whole thread really proves that sometimes the community can provide better support than the actual government system we re'dealing with.
Update: After reading all your responses, I decided to try calling DEO again this morning. After an hour of redialing, I actually got through! The agent confirmed they can see my $500 payment in their system, but said it can take 4-8 weeks to show in CONNECT. She put a note on my account about the call and told me not to worry. Thanks everyone for your help and sharing your experiences!
Great news! Glad you got confirmation. Always a relief to know the payment is actually in their system even if CONNECT is slow to update.
This is such a relief to read! I'm dealing with the exact same thing right now - made my first overpayment of $300 two weeks ago and have been checking CONNECT obsessively every day wondering if they actually got it. The confirmation number gives me some peace of mind, but seeing everyone's experiences with 4-8 week delays helps me understand this is just how their broken system works. I'm definitely going to print out everything and stop stressing about it for now. Thanks for sharing your update - it's so helpful to know they can actually see payments in their internal system even when CONNECT doesn't show it!
Same boat here! Just made my first payment of $275 last week and have been refreshing CONNECT like crazy. Reading everyone's experiences really helps - sounds like we just have to be patient with their ancient systems. At least we know the payments are actually going through even if we can't see them right away. Definitely taking everyone's advice about keeping all the documentation!

Jumping in as someone who's been through the DEO process multiple times over the past few years - the timing really is all over the place! I've found that direct deposit typically takes 2-3 business days after claiming, but I've seen it as fast as next day and as slow as a full week depending on when you claim and how busy their system is. One thing that helped me was setting up text alerts through CONNECT so I get notifications when payments are processed. Also, since you mentioned budgeting carefully until you start work - just a heads up that your first week back at work might affect your final unemployment payment if there's any overlap in the benefit week dates. DEO can be really picky about reporting exact work start dates. The screenshot advice everyone's giving is spot on too - I learned that lesson the hard way when they "lost" one of my work search logs and I had to appeal. Now I screenshot literally everything including confirmation numbers and timestamps. Hope your payment comes through smoothly on Friday!

•Thanks for the tip about setting up text alerts! I didn't even know that was an option in CONNECT - definitely going to look into that. And good point about the overlap with starting work on Monday - I'll make sure to be super precise about the dates when I report it. It's crazy how many little details can trip you up with this system. Really appreciate everyone sharing their hard-learned lessons here - feels like I'm getting a crash course in DEO survival skills! 😊

Just want to add my experience for anyone still reading this thread - I've been on DEO unemployment since March and the payment timing has gotten much more consistent over the past couple months. It was chaos in the beginning (took 8 weeks to get my first payment!), but now it's pretty reliably 2-3 business days with direct deposit. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is that DEO sometimes holds payments if there are any "data validation" issues, which can happen randomly even if you've been getting payments fine. I had this happen once when their system flagged my address for some reason, and it delayed my payment by almost a week. The only way I found out was by calling (after 47 attempts to get through!). Also totally agree with everyone about taking screenshots - I now have a whole folder on my phone just for DEO documentation. It's sad that we have to protect ourselves like this, but better safe than sorry with this system! Hope everyone gets their payments on time and Congress figures out something to replace that $600 boost soon.
