I finally got around to doing the ID.me verification for my DEO account yesterday after putting it off for weeks. I uploaded my driver's license and took a selfie, but then it suddenly said I needed to do a video call with a 'trusted referee' to complete verification. I wasn't expecting to talk to an actual person! I had to wait in a virtual queue for over an hour. Is this normal or did I do something wrong during the initial verification steps? The referee asked me to show my ID again on camera and asked some personal questions. Just wondering if everyone has to do this video interview part or if my verification attempt somehow got flagged for extra review?
Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get through to anyone? The early morning call trick sometimes works, but honestly, Claimyr is what I had to use after trying for weeks. The website is claimyr.com if you decide to try it. Hope you got some resolution!
I tried calling this morning at 7:29 exactly but still got the high call volume message after waiting for 30 minutes. I'm going to check out Claimyr today because I'm running out of options. Also emailed both addresses that were suggested and contacted my state rep's office. Crossing my fingers something works soon!
UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at DEO! Used Claimyr this morning and was connected to an agent within 20 minutes. The agent confirmed they received my identity documents but said they were "pending review" in the verification queue. She submitted an escalation request due to the length of time and my hardship situation. She said I should see movement on my account within 3-5 business days. Will update again once I know more. Thank you all for the helpful advice!
hey has ur card shown up yet? Mine took 22 days from first payment back in January but my cousin got hers in just 8 days last month so seems totally random
Quick update to my earlier comment - I just remembered that you can actually check if your card has been mailed by creating an account on the Way2Go Card website (www.goprogram.com). You'll need your SSN and DOB to create the account, even before you have the physical card. Once logged in, it will show if your card has been mailed and when. This is actually faster than calling their customer service line, which always has long wait times.
My sister had the same thing happen last month... ran out of her regular weeks and thought there was some kind of extension. DEO told her nothing was available. She ended up doing food delivery for a few weeks to make ends meet until her teaching job started. Maybe try something like that?
Just to clarify for anyone else reading this thread - extensions like PEUC were specifically created by Congress for the pandemic. They weren't a regular feature of unemployment. Florida's system is back to its pre-pandemic rules now, which unfortunately means 12-19 weeks maximum based on state unemployment rate. If you're getting close to exhausting benefits, don't assume there will be an extension. Plan accordingly.
Thank you all for the responses! I clearly had some major misconceptions about the current benefits. I'll log into CONNECT today and see if I can still claim those weeks. If not, I'll try to contact DEO to get them reopened. I do have documentation of my work searches (thankfully), so that shouldn't be an issue. I appreciate everyone clearing this up for me!
Good luck with your claim! One last tip: if your weeks are locked and you need to call DEO, try calling right when they open at 7:30am. That's usually when wait times are shortest. And make sure you have your claimant ID number, PIN, and the last 4 of your SSN ready to verify your identity when you do reach someone.
Also if ur claiming for the first time make sure u watch out for the fact finding questionairres they sometimes send!! If u don't answer those within like 48 hrs or something ur whole claim can get messed up and go to adjudication which takes FOREVER to resolve!!
dont forget that if u need to submit documents for adjudication u can upload them in CONNECT under "inbox" then "compose message" - attach files there and put ur CLAIMANT ID in the subject. faster than faxing or mailing. when i did this i put "URGENT ADJUDICATION DOCUMENTS" in the subject line and it got resolved a week later
Final tip: make sure you're answering your phone even if you don't recognize the number. Adjudicators often call from blocked or weird numbers, and if you miss their call, it can delay your claim even more. They typically only try to call 1-2 times before putting your claim back in the queue. Good luck with your claim! Let us know if any of these strategies work for you.
Thank you! I'll be sure to answer every call. I've tried the early morning call method today and actually got through after about 40 minutes on hold. The agent couldn't resolve my adjudication but did put notes on my account and said she'd try to expedite it. At least it's something! I've also uploaded my documents through CONNECT with the urgent subject line. Will update if anything changes.
I was having the same issue this morning but just got in now using my phone instead of my laptop. My claim that was in adjudication for 3 weeks finally shows a determination letter is available! But now I'm nervous to open it lol. Anyone know if determination letters usually contain good news or bad news?
My friend had the same problem last year and what helped was setting up a calendar reminder on her phone for every two weeks. The system doesn't actually tell you what your claiming schedule is until AFTER you've claimed for the first time, which is so backwards. She basically just set it up so every other Wednesday she'd get a reminder to log in and check if it was her claim week. I think different SSNs get different days assigned but once you know your pattern it's the same every time.
Yes, that sounds about right. After you log in to CONNECT, on your homepage there should be a message that tells you exactly when your next claim date is. It'll say something like "Your next date to claim weeks is 07/26/2025" or whatever the exact date is for your schedule. One more tip: make sure you're answering all the questions correctly when claiming weeks. If you worked at all during a claim week (even part-time), report it accurately. If you were unable to work or refused work for any reason, be honest about it. Incorrect reporting can lead to overpayment notices later.
Had similar thing happen last year when they updated the CONNECT system. The money showed up a week later without me doing anything. DEO gonna DEO 🙄
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with a DEO agent (was able to get through using Claimyr). They confirmed it's a system-wide issue affecting the federal $300 payments and they're pushing out a fix. The agent told me all affected claimants should see the missing federal portion deposited separately within 3-5 business days. If you don't see it by next Friday, they recommend calling to check on your specific claim.
did u ever get the receipt when u paid it originally? i always take screenshots of everything with government sites cuz they mess up so much lol
Important update based on recent experience: There's a specific unit at DEO called the Benefit Payment Control (BPC) Unit that handles old overpayment records. When you call, specifically ask for them. Also, if you make any progress or get any confirmation about your previous payments, get the name and ID number of the representative who helped you and document EVERYTHING. I'd recommend sending a follow-up email summarizing any phone conversations to create a paper trail. Also, be aware there's a 3-year statute of limitations on most DEO collection actions, but they reset if they've made collection attempts during that time.

I work in IT security and can explain why this happens. ID.me uses facial recognition technology to match your selfie with your ID photo. When the confidence score falls below a certain threshold (too many differences between images), it routes you to manual verification with a trusted referee. This is actually a good thing - it means their security is working properly rather than automatically rejecting you. Common triggers include: - Significant weight loss/gain - Different hairstyle/color - Facial hair changes - Aging (if ID is several years old) - Different glasses - Poor lighting during selfie capture After your video verification, your ID.me status should link to your DEO account within 48 hours. If it doesn't update by then, contact DEO directly.

•Not true my sister did it and she looks the same as her id and still had to do the video call thing probably just another way for them to delay benefits

•There are other technical factors that can trigger the video verification beyond just physical appearance. The system also checks for image quality, unusual patterns in the verification attempt, network issues, or inconsistencies in the supporting documentation. It's not necessarily about delaying benefits but ensuring the right person is accessing the account. Around 30-40% of all verification attempts get routed to video verification even with good photo matches.

Update: My DEO account is now showing that I'm verified! It took about 36 hours after the video call. For anyone else going through this process, make sure you have good lighting for the video call and have your ID ready. The referee was actually really nice and the call only took about 5 minutes once I finally got connected. Thanks everyone for confirming this is normal!
