FTB Refund Status Check - Any Recent Letters or Notices?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check the status of my tax refund from the FTB. Has anyone received any letters or notices about their refund recently? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for mine and wondering if there's anything I should be looking out for in the mail.

I just got a letter from FTB last week about my refund. It said they needed additional information to process it. Make sure you're checking your mail regularly!

•What kind of additional info did they ask for? I'm worried I might get something similar 😬

•They wanted me to verify some income I reported. Had to send in some extra forms. It's a pain, but at least it's moving forward!

•Ugh, the FTB and their endless paperwork. 🙄 Good luck with that!

I've been waiting for my refund for months now. No letters, no updates, nothing. It's so frustrating! Anyone know if there's a way to speak to a real person at FTB?

•LOL good luck with that. I've tried calling them like a million times and always get stuck in the automated system. 🤖

•Actually, I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/XbqD8mexcoQ

•Wow, really? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Seems kinda sketchy tbh. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency? 🤔

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny for me. Just sharing what worked!

Here's what I've learned about FTB refund statuses: • Check the FTB website first. They have a "Where's My Refund?" tool that can give you basic info. • If it's been more than 4 weeks since you filed, and the online tool doesn't help, try calling. • Be prepared with your SSN, filing status, and exact refund amount when you call. • Sometimes, refunds are delayed for random audits or identity verification. • If you filed by paper, expect longer wait times (up to 3 months). • If you get a letter, respond ASAP to avoid further delays. Hope this helps someone! Hang in there, everyone. 💪

•Great info! Quick question - do you know if amended returns take longer? I had to fix a mistake on mine 😅

•Yes, amended returns typically take longer. FTB says up to 16 weeks for those. Patience is key!

Has anyone had luck contacting their state representative about FTB issues? I've heard sometimes they can help speed things up.

•I tried that last year when I had a similar problem. They were actually pretty helpful! Took about 2 weeks, but they got things moving for me.

•Woah, I didn't even know that was an option. How do you go about contacting your rep?

•Just google "find my california state representative" and you'll get a website where you can enter your address. Then reach out to their office explaining your situation. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with these kinds of issues.

Pro tip: If you're expecting a big refund, adjust your withholdings so you get more money throughout the year instead of waiting for a refund. It's basically an interest-free loan to the government otherwise!

•True, but some people like the forced savings of a big refund. To each their own I guess 🤷♂️
