How long after ID verification until EDD benefit card arrives?

I finally completed my ID.me verification after THREE attempts (webcam issues kept causing failures). EDD website now shows my claim as approved, but I'm still waiting for my Money Network debit card to arrive. It's been 9 days since verification was accepted. The EDD website says 7-10 business days for card delivery, but I'm getting anxious because rent is due next week. Do they email any tracking info? Is there a way to check card shipping status? How long did everyone else wait after identity verification before receiving their cards?

In my experience, the Money Network card typically arrives 10-14 business days after your identity verification is accepted. EDD doesn't provide tracking info, unfortunately. Once your claim shows as 'approved' on UI Online, the card shipping process has begun, but there's a separate department that handles that. I'd give it until at least day 14 before getting too concerned.

Thanks for the info! Good to know I should expect up to 14 business days. Did your payments show as 'paid' on the EDD website before you got your card? Mine still say 'pending payment' and I'm worried something else is wrong.

3 weeks?! Oh man, I really hope mine doesn't take that long. Bills are piling up. Good tip about the plain envelope - I'll definitely watch for that!

The EXACT same thing happened to me last month! I verified my identity and then the WAITING GAME began. 13 days later the card finally showed up. EDD is absolutely terrible about communicating about these cards. I called Money Network directly at 855-291-0202 and they were able to at least confirm when the card was mailed, but they wouldn't tell me when it would arrive. Dealing with EDD is like pulling teeth!!!! Their website is stuck in 1998 technology I swear. Why can't they just use direct deposit like normal government agencies?!?

You actually CAN do direct deposit! Once you get your Money Network card, you create an account on their website and you can set up transfers to your bank account. That's what I did - card came, I logged into Money Network site and set it to auto-transfer any deposits to my checking account.

It sounds like your claim is progressing normally. Here's what's actually happening: Once your ID verification is accepted, EDD marks your claim as approved. Then they process your payments, which triggers Money Network to issue your debit card. The 7-10 business days timeframe starts when Money Network receives the instruction to issue your card, not when your verification is approved. For first-time claims, it typically takes 10-14 business days total from verification acceptance to card delivery. If you're concerned about making rent, you have a few options: 1. Call Money Network directly at 855-291-0202 to confirm if your card has been mailed 2. Check your UI Online account daily - when your payments switch from "pending payment" to "paid," your card is likely already in transit 3. Once you receive your card, you can set up direct deposit for future payments by creating an account on the Money Network website

This is really helpful, thank you! I'll try calling Money Network tomorrow to see if they can confirm whether my card has been mailed yet. Do you know if the EDD payment status will change to "paid" before the card arrives, or only after I activate it?

I had a similar situation back in January. After ID.me verification, my claim status changed to approved within 48 hours, but it took 11 business days for the Money Network card to arrive. The annoying part is there's practically no way to track it. I was getting so frustrated with the waiting that I started calling EDD to check if there was an issue. If you need to reach EDD directly about this, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it helped me get through to an actual human at EDD after days of failed attempts. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent I spoke with confirmed my card had been requested but couldn't provide shipping details. At least I had peace of mind knowing it was in process. Hang in there!

is that service legit? seems kinda sketch to pay someone just to call edd

Yeah, it's legitimate. I was skeptical too but got desperate after trying to call 20+ times. They basically navigate the phone tree and wait on hold for you, then connect you when there's an agent. Saved me hours of frustration, and the EDD rep I spoke with was actually helpful once I got through.

Oh no! Thanks for the warning - I just double-checked my address in the system and it's correct. Did your roommate have to wait another 2-3 weeks for the replacement card?

To answer your earlier question - yes, your payments will change from "pending payment" to "paid" before your card arrives. That's actually a good indicator that your card is on the way. The status changes when the funds are transferred to Money Network, not when you activate the card. Also, once you receive your card, make sure you immediately set up your account on the Money Network website. You can arrange for direct deposit of funds to your bank account for future payments, which is much more convenient than using the debit card.

That's great to know! I just checked and one of my payments changed from "pending payment" to "paid" today! Hopefully that means my card is already on the way. I'll definitely set up direct deposit as soon as I get it. Thanks for all your help!

Now that one of your payments has switched to "paid" status, that's a very good sign! The card is likely already in the mail. Since this is your first benefit payment, most people receive their card within 5-7 days after the payment status changes to "paid." Just make sure to activate the card immediately when it arrives by calling the number on the sticker. Then create your Money Network account online to manage your funds and set up direct deposit if desired. For future reference, all subsequent payments will be automatically loaded onto this same card or transferred to your bank account if you set up direct deposit.

I'm in a similar boat - just finished ID verification 6 days ago and anxiously waiting for my card! Reading through these responses is really reassuring. I had no idea about the Money Network phone number (855-291-0202) so I'm definitely going to try calling them tomorrow to at least confirm if my card has been mailed. The waiting is the worst part, especially when you're counting on that money for basic expenses. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and timelines - it helps to know this delay is totally normal even though EDD's "7-10 business days" seems optimistic!

Welcome to the waiting club! 😅 I'm actually in the exact same situation as Diego - just got through ID verification and now playing the card waiting game. It's so stressful when you need that money for rent and bills. Really appreciate everyone sharing their timelines here - definitely makes me feel better knowing 10-14 days is more realistic than the 7-10 they advertise. Going to try calling Money Network tomorrow too! Fingers crossed both our cards show up soon.
