EDD payment pending for 6 weeks after ID.me verification - is this normal?

I completed my ID.me verification almost 6 weeks ago and my EDD payments are still showing as pending. My account status says 'verification in progress' but it's been like that for over a month now. I've tried calling EDD literally 27 times in the past week and either get disconnected or told 'maximum callers reached'. Has anyone else experienced such a long wait after ID verification? I'm about to miss another rent payment and my landlord is getting really impatient. My last job laid off our entire department in January and I've had 7 interviews but no offers yet. Any advice on how to get my claim moving?

That's definitely longer than normal. After ID verification, it typically takes 7-10 business days for EDD to process and release payments. If you've been waiting 6 weeks, something's wrong. Have you checked your UI Online account for any notifications or messages that might explain the delay? Sometimes they need additional documentation but don't always call to tell you.

Thanks for responding! I've checked my UI Online inbox every day and there's nothing there asking for more documentation. The only message I got was the confirmation that my ID.me verification was received, but that was weeks ago. Should I just keep calling?

I've checked everywhere on the website and don't see any 'action required' messages. Did they eventually just fix your claim or did you have to keep calling?

I've been an EDD claims specialist for years, and I can tell you that 6 weeks after ID verification is definitely abnormal. There are a few possible issues: 1. Your claim may have other eligibility issues separate from identity verification 2. Your ID.me verification might not have properly linked to your EDD account 3. Your claim could be flagged for a manual review due to previous claim history The only way to resolve this is to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can see exactly what's holding up your claim. Regular representatives often can't see or fix these deeper issues.

Thank you so much for this information! Do you know how I can specifically ask for a Tier 2 specialist? I can't even get through to any representative at all.

EDD is such a joke!! I waited 4 months last year for them to fix my claim after verification. They don't care that people have bills to pay!!! The whole system needs to be thrown out and redone completely. Nobody can ever get through on the phone and when you do they just transfer you around until someone hangs up on you.

While I understand your frustration, there are actually some strategies that can help people get through. The phone system follows patterns - early morning (8:01-8:15am) and right after lunch (1:00-1:15pm) tend to have slightly better connection rates. Also, Thursdays and Fridays have historically been slightly less busy than Mondays.

Try using Claimyr to reach an EDD agent! That's what finally worked for me after 3 weeks of calling. It basically keeps dialing EDD for you and calls you when it gets through to a rep. I was skeptical but desperate and it connected me with an agent in about 30 mins. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

Never heard of this before. Is it legit? Did they actually resolve your issue when you got through?

Yes it's definitely legit. The EDD rep I got could see that my claim was stuck because there was a flag for 'previous employer verification' that was never cleared from my account. She removed it while I was on the phone and my payments switched from pending to paid the next day.

Have you tried contacting your local state assembly member's office? I was stuck for almost 2 months with a pending claim, and my assemblyman's office has staff dedicated to EDD issues. I filled out their EDD assistance form, and they contacted EDD on my behalf. My claim was fixed within 5 days after that! Seriously worth trying if you're desperate.

That's a great idea! I didn't even think about contacting my assembly member. Do I just Google to find their contact info?

Yep! Just search "Find my California state assembly member" and it'll show you who represents your district. Most of them have a specific form or section on their website specifically for EDD help because so many people have been having problems.

did u certify every 2 weeks? sometimes people forget and thats why payments dont come thru

•

Yes, I've been certifying on time every two weeks. The certifications all show as 'received' but the payments all say 'pending' instead of 'paid'.

I just realized something - did you check if you have any penalty weeks? If you had a previous overpayment with a penalty, those weeks would show as certified but remain pending until you serve through all penalty weeks.

Hmm, I've never had a previous EDD claim or overpayment so I don't think that would apply to me. This is my first time on unemployment.

After reading through your responses, I'm almost certain this is either a technical issue with your ID.me verification not properly linking to your EDD account, or there's an eligibility interview that needs to be scheduled but hasn't been due to backlog. I would recommend two approaches: 1. Try the Claimyr service mentioned above to reach a representative 2. Contact your assembly member as suggested Both of these approaches have high success rates for resolving stuck claims. When you do speak with a representative, ask specifically: "Is there any eligibility issue flagged on my account?" and "Has my ID.me verification been properly processed in your system?"

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning, and I'll also submit a request to my assembly member's office as a backup plan. Really appreciate everyone's help here - it's been incredibly stressful trying to handle this alone.
