EDD ID verification taking 11+ days - still pending with no updates
I'm starting to panic a bit here. I submitted my identity verification documents through ID.me the same day I received the request from EDD (February 3rd). It's now been 11 working days and my claim is still showing as pending, no payments processed, and no status updates whatsoever. The EDD website just says 'pending' with no explanation. I've tried calling but can't get through to anyone. Does anyone know how long these ID verifications typically take to process? Is 11+ days normal or should I be worried something went wrong? I've got rent due next week and I'm getting really stressed about this delay. 😣

ID verification processing times vary quite a bit right now. Back when I went through this in January, mine took about 8-10 business days to clear, but I've heard from others it can take up to 3 weeks in some cases. The EDD systems don't always show you what's happening behind the scenes. Did you get any confirmation email after submitting your documents? Also, check your UI Online inbox for any messages requesting additional information - sometimes they need more documents but the notifications don't always show up prominently.

•Thanks for responding! I got the email confirmation from ID.me saying verification was successful, but nothing from EDD directly. I've been checking my UI Online inbox obsessively and there's nothing new there. It just feels like my verification is sitting in a black hole somewhere.

•That gives me some hope! Did your online status change at all during those 14 days or did it just stay as 'pending' the whole time?

My ID verification took 19 business days!!! I was going CRAZY waiting. EDD is the worst with communication. They don't tell you anything until they suddenly deposit money in your account.

•19 days?! That's ridiculous. Did you do anything to speed it up or just wait it out?

The standard processing time for identity verification is supposed to be 10 business days, but the reality is very different right now. EDD is experiencing higher than normal verification requests, so delays of 15-20 business days are becoming common. Here's what you should do: 1. Continue certifying for benefits on your regular schedule even while pending 2. Check your spam/junk folders for EDD communications 3. Make sure your UI Online contact information is current 4. If you reach the 15 business day mark with no movement, that's when you should escalate For escalation, you'll need to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can see what's happening with your ID verification. Regular representatives don't have access to this information.

•Thank you for the detailed response! This is really helpful. I've been certifying as normal but was worried it might be pointless if my ID wasn't verified. I'll wait until the 15-day mark before panicking more.

I went through this same nightmare last month! After 13 days of waiting and getting nowhere with the regular EDD phone number, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to connect with an actual EDD representative. They have this service that basically waits on hold for you and then calls you when they get through to an agent. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep I spoke with was able to see that my ID verification had actually been approved days earlier but hadn't updated in the system properly. They manually pushed it through and my payments started processing the next day. Might be worth trying if you hit day 15 with no updates.

•Is that service legit? Sounds too good to be true in EDD world lol. I've spent HOURS trying to get through on the phone.

•That's really interesting, I hadn't heard of that service before. If I don't see any movement in the next few days I might give it a try. So frustrating that we have to jump through all these hoops just to talk to someone about our claims!

this is why the system is broken!!! they expect us to wait WEEKS with no income while they "verify" things that could be done in 5 minutes. meanwhile bills pile up and we're just supposed to be patient??

•EXACTLY! And then they act like we're being unreasonable for asking about the status. My landlord doesn't care about EDD's processing times!

When I did my ID verification process they needed clearer pictures of my documents but never actually notified me! I only found out when I finally got through by phone after 3 weeks of waiting. Maybe something similar happened with yours?

•This is a really good point - sometimes the verification system flags documents as unreadable or needs additional verification but doesn't properly notify claimants. Always worth checking!

•Oh that's concerning! I thought ID.me would tell me immediately if my documents weren't acceptable. Now I'm worried that might be what's happening...

Quick update on processing times: I just spoke with an EDD representative yesterday about a similar issue for my partner's claim. They confirmed that ID verification is currently taking 12-18 business days to complete due to high volume. As long as you've received the confirmation from ID.me that your verification was successful, it should eventually process through EDD's system. If you hit day 18 with no change, that's when you absolutely need to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can manually check your verification status in their internal system.

•Thank you for the insider info! That timeline helps set my expectations. It's just so stressful waiting with no updates or communication. I'll try to be patient for another week before I panic more.

•YES! The old system was clunky but at least things moved. Ever since that "upgrade" in December everything takes forever. Classic government IT project 🙄

UPDATE: My verification finally went through today! That's 15 business days total. My status changed from pending to paid this morning and I just got the notification that funds were transferred to my Money Network card. Thanks everyone for the advice and support - it definitely helped keep me sane during the wait. For anyone else going through this, hang in there!

•Congratulations on getting it resolved! 15 days seems to be the sweet spot based on what everyone's been sharing here. Really appreciate you updating the thread - it gives hope to others who are still waiting. The EDD system is frustrating but at least we know there's light at the end of the tunnel!

So glad to see this resolved! Your experience really highlights how the system works - or doesn't work. The fact that you had to wait 15 business days with zero communication from EDD is exactly what's wrong with their process. At least now we have a good data point: February 3rd submission → March 29th approval = 15 business days. I'm bookmarking this thread for future reference when people ask about current ID verification timelines. Thanks for being so detailed about your experience and coming back to update us!

•This is such a relief to read! I'm currently on day 8 of waiting for my ID verification and was starting to worry something was wrong. Seeing that 15 days seems to be the current standard really helps manage expectations. It's crazy that we have to crowdsource this information because EDD won't just tell us what to expect upfront. Thanks Daniel for sharing your journey and congrats on getting it sorted! 🎉

This thread is incredibly helpful for anyone dealing with ID verification delays right now! The timeline data everyone's sharing (8-19 days, with 15 days being common) gives us realistic expectations instead of EDD's vague "processing" messages. I'm dealing with a similar situation - submitted my documents 9 days ago and still pending. Reading about everyone's experiences, especially Daniel's successful resolution, really helps with the anxiety of not knowing what's happening. It's ridiculous that we have to rely on community knowledge to understand basic processing timelines that EDD should be communicating clearly upfront.

•Absolutely agree! This thread has been a lifesaver for understanding what's actually happening with ID verification right now. I'm on day 12 myself and was starting to panic, but seeing Daniel's timeline and everyone else's experiences really puts it in perspective. It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't provide any realistic timeframes - just that generic "processing" status that tells us nothing. At least now I know 15+ days is normal and I'm not alone in this waiting game. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, it really helps with the stress!

I'm currently on day 13 of waiting for my ID verification to process and this thread has been incredibly reassuring! Like many others here, I submitted through ID.me and got their confirmation email, but EDD's system just shows "pending" with no updates. The lack of communication from EDD is honestly the worst part - they could save us all so much stress by just posting realistic timelines on their website instead of leaving us to figure it out through forums like this. Based on what everyone's sharing, it sounds like 12-18 business days is the current reality, which is way longer than their official "10 business days" estimate. Thanks Daniel for the detailed timeline and for coming back to update us - it gives me hope that mine will process soon too! 🤞

•You're so right about the communication being the worst part! I'm on day 6 of waiting and was already starting to stress, but reading everyone's experiences here has been such a relief. It's wild that we have to piece together realistic timelines from community posts because EDD won't just be upfront about how long things actually take. The fact that their "10 business days" estimate is basically meaningless right now is so typical of government agencies - under-promise and still somehow disappoint! 😤 Really hoping yours processes soon, and thanks to everyone who's shared their timelines. This thread should honestly be pinned somewhere for future reference!
