EDD verified my identity 5 weeks ago but Money Network card still on hold - no callback received
I'm at my wits end with this situation! Back in early January, EDD flagged my account because they had my SSN incorrect in their system (somehow the last digit was wrong). I went through the whole ID verification process which was completed and confirmed on January 22nd. EDD rep told me everything was fixed on their end and that my Money Network card would be unfrozen within 48-72 hours. It's now been FIVE WEEKS and my benefits are still on hold! I've called EDD at least 12 times but either get disconnected or told that 'a specialist will call you back within 48 hours.' No one has EVER called me back. Meanwhile I have $4,200 sitting on my card that I can't access, and I'm about to be evicted because I can't pay rent. Has anyone dealt with this Money Network hold situation after identity verification? What did you do to actually get it resolved? I'm desperate here.

the same exact thing happened 2 me last month!! took me forever to get it fixed. the problem is that EDD and Money Network dont talk to each other properly. EDD fixed your identity on their system but didnt send the update to Money Network. you need to specifically ask for a 'release of funds' request to be submitted by an EDD tier 2 specialist. regular reps cant do this.

•Thank you! How did you actually reach a tier 2 specialist? Every time I call I just get the basic reps who seem completely powerless to help.

This is unfortunately very common with identity verification issues. The disconnection between EDD's identity verification system and Money Network's account security protocols causes these holds. Here's what you need to do: 1. You need to speak specifically with an EDD Claim Specialist (Tier 2), not just a regular representative 2. They need to submit a "Release Authorization" to Money Network 3. Request a ticket/confirmation number for this authorization 4. Once that's done, Money Network typically takes 3-5 business days to unfreeze your funds The key is getting to a Claim Specialist who has the authority to initiate this release process. Regular representatives often don't have access to these systems.

•This is really helpful information! The problem is I've been trying for weeks and can never get through to a specialist. They always say they'll call back but never do. Is there any reliable way to actually reach one of these tier 2 specialists?

i had my identity verified last year and my card worked fine right away. maybe you need to just get a new card? call money network directly at the number on the back of ur card, they might b able to help faster than edd

•Unfortunately, when there's an identity verification hold placed by EDD, Money Network customer service can't remove it - only EDD can authorize the release. It's frustrating but Money Network will just refer you back to EDD in these cases.

I had the exact same problem last month and wasted weeks trying to get through on the regular EDD line. I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD representative in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. Their system basically keeps dialing for you until it gets through. I was skeptical but it actually worked and I finally got to speak with a tier 2 specialist who fixed my Money Network hold issue. Check out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - their website is claimyr.com. The rep I spoke with submitted the release authorization and my card was unfrozen 3 days later.

•THANK YOU for this suggestion! I'm going to try this immediately. At this point I'd try anything to get this resolved. Did they connect you directly to a tier 2 specialist or did you have to ask for one after getting connected?

THE EDD SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN!!!!! I had the EXACT same issue happen in December and it took TWO MONTHS to fix!!!! The problem is that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. EDD and Money Network operate on completely different systems and the communication between them is TERRIBLE. I ended up having to file a formal complaint with my state assembly member's office before anyone took it seriously. RIDICULOUS that we have to go through this just to access OUR OWN MONEY!!!!

@OP - To answer your follow-up question, when I used Claimyr, they connected me to a regular rep first, but I specifically asked to be transferred to a tier 2 specialist and explained that I needed a release authorization for Money Network. The first rep tried to tell me they could help, but I insisted on speaking with a specialist who could submit the release authorization. They transferred me after about 5 minutes. Make sure you're very clear about needing a "Release Authorization" to be sent to Money Network due to identity verification issues being resolved.

•That's super helpful, thank you! I'll make sure to specifically ask for the tier 2 specialist and use those exact terms. I'll try this first thing tomorrow morning.

one thing to be aware of is that even after the hold is removed, it can still take 3-5 business days for Money Network to actually process it. i made the mistake of thinking it would be instant and freaked out when it wasn't working immediately. just giving you a heads up so you don't panic if it takes a few days after talking to EDD.

•Thanks for the tip! At this point I'm just desperate to get the process started. I appreciate the warning about the additional processing time.

btw did u try calling the identity verification department directly instead of the main edd number? sometimes they can help faster with these specific issues. their number is different from the regular edd line

•No, I didn't know there was a separate identity verification department! Do you happen to have that number? I'd be willing to try that route too.

Update from original poster? For anyone else facing this issue in the future, here's the correct process: 1. Identity verification is handled through ID.me and then processed by EDD 2. Once identity is verified, EDD must send a separate "release authorization" to Money Network 3. This release must be processed by a Tier 2 specialist at EDD 4. Money Network then takes 3-5 business days to process the release 5. You should receive an email notification when your card is unfrozen The most common mistake people make is assuming that once ID verification is complete, the card will automatically be unfrozen. These are actually two separate processes that must both be completed.

•UPDATE: I tried that Claimyr service and actually got through to EDD this morning! After explaining the situation clearly and asking for a tier 2 specialist using the exact terminology suggested here, I finally got someone who submitted the release authorization to Money Network. They gave me a confirmation number and said it should be processed within 3-5 business days. I'm cautiously optimistic! Will update again when/if my card gets unfrozen. Thank you all SO MUCH for the help!
