EDD showing 'paid' for 10 days but no money on Money Network card - seasonal worker confused
This is really frustrating! I'm a construction worker and get laid off every winter season like clockwork. Filed my UI claim on November 5th, got paid for my first week no problem. Then I certified for the two weeks ending December 7th, and my UI Online account has been showing 'paid' status for those weeks for almost 10 days now, but absolutely NOTHING has shown up on my Money Network card or in my bank account. I've called EDD twice and gotten through (miracle!) and both reps just said 'there are no issues with your claim, just keep waiting.' I've been doing seasonal unemployment for 5 years and never experienced this kind of delay before. Now I'm supposed to certify for two more weeks this Sunday, but I'm still waiting on almost $1,250 from my last certification. Anyone else experiencing weird payment delays right now? Is the system backed up? I'm starting to worry something's wrong despite what the reps told me.

I've seen this happen a few times lately. The system shows 'paid' but the actual transfer to Money Network or direct deposit gets stuck in limbo. Two things to try: 1) Log into your Money Network account directly (not through UI Online) and check your transaction history. Sometimes the money is there but not showing in your available balance. 2) Double-check your payment preference settings in UI Online - sometimes they randomly switch back to paper checks without notification. If neither works, you'll unfortunately need to call again and specifically ask for a 'payment trace' on those weeks.

•Thanks for the suggestions! I just logged into Money Network directly and nothing's showing in transaction history either. My payment preference is definitely still set to the card. What exactly is a 'payment trace'? Will they be able to tell me exactly where my money is stuck in the system?

This happened to me last January and it was because there was a random flag on my account for "potential availability issue" even though the reps I talked to said everything was fine. Turns out the system was waiting for an eligibility interview to be scheduled but they never told me about it! The money eventually came through after I had an interview, but it took over 3 weeks. You might want to specifically ask if you have any pending interviews or if there are any flags on your account that the rep might not be seeing at first glance.

•Ugh, that's exactly what I'm worried about! The reps seemed so certain there was nothing wrong, but maybe they're not checking everything? I'll definitely ask about potential interviews or hidden flags when I call again. This is so stressful.

the edd system is GARBAGE!!! dont trust what those reps tell u, half the time they dont even know whats going on or r just reading off a script. ive had 'paid' status sit there for 3 WEEKS before i got my $$. meanwhile bills piling up and they just say 'keep waiting' like we dont have rent due!!! the whole system needs to be thrown in the trash. bet if we owed THEM money they wouldn't be saying 'just keep waiting' SMH

•Right??? I swear they do this on purpose to make people give up. My cousin had the same thing happen and she ended up just taking a crappy job because she couldn't wait anymore for her money.

After struggling with similar issues last month, I found a service called Claimyr that actually got me through to an EDD specialist who could see the deeper issues in my account. Regular reps often don't have access to see payment processing problems. Check out their site at claimyr.com - they have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. They got me connected to a real claims specialist within 30 minutes after I'd been trying for days. The specialist found my payment was stuck in some internal review queue that regular reps couldn't even see.

•is this legit? sounds like a scam to me... why would i need to pay someone to reach edd when i can call them myself?

•It's definitely legit. The difference is they get you through to actual claims specialists rather than the first-level reps who often can't see or fix the real issues. I was skeptical too but was desperate after 3 weeks of no payment. The video on their site shows exactly how it works.

my friend had something like this happen and it turned out her identity verification had expired or something? even though she'd been claiming for months with no problems. she had to do the id.me thing again. maybe ask about that specifically?

•That's strange! I've never had to redo my ID.me verification mid-claim before. I'll definitely ask about that though. The weird thing is that my first week paid fine, it's just these most recent weeks that are stuck.

One other thing to check - log into UI Online and look at your claim summary page. Scroll down to the section that shows your payment history. If your benefit amount shows a different amount than what was normally paid in previous weeks, it could mean there was a partial reduction due to reported earnings or a penalty week being applied. Sometimes the system marks it as 'paid' but the amount is different than expected. Also, I'd recommend calling first thing Monday morning at 8:01am exactly - that's when you have the best chance of getting through to a Tier 2 specialist who can actually see what's happening in the payment processing system.

•Just checked and the benefit amount shown is exactly the same as previous weeks - $625 per week. So that's not it either. Monday morning at 8:01 is a good tip! I'll try that. Really wish they'd just tell us if there's a system-wide delay instead of making us all worry individually.

Update us when you figure it out! I'm genuinely curious what's causing this because the exact same thing is happening to my brother-in-law. He's also a seasonal worker (landscaping) and his latest payments show as 'paid' but haven't hit his account. Makes me wonder if there's some kind of new additional verification process for seasonal workers that they haven't announced.

•I definitely will! That's interesting about your brother-in-law - maybe there is some new seasonal worker verification. Though you'd think they'd tell us about something like that instead of just saying 'keep waiting'...

this happened 2 me last year i think its cuz of the holidays tbh. edd probably short staffed + banks processing slower. mine finally came thru like 5 days b4 xmas after showing paid for 2 weeks

•That's actually somewhat comforting if it's just holiday delays! Though I wish they'd just say that instead of giving the vague 'no issues' response. I really hope it comes through before Christmas.

•I'm using the Money Network card. That's a good point - I've had the same card for a couple years now though, and the first payment this season went through fine just a few weeks ago. But maybe something changed? I'll check if I can view my card status somehow.

Just called EDD this morning using Claimyr and got an update on my similar situation. Apparently there's a payment processing delay affecting some claims filed in late October/early November. The specialist confirmed the money is approved but stuck in their payment transfer system. She said it should resolve within 72 hours and didn't require any action on my part. You might want to specifically ask about this system delay when you call.

•Thank you!!! This is the most helpful info I've gotten. I'm going to call tomorrow morning and specifically ask about this payment processing delay. Fingers crossed my money is just caught in the same issue and will be released soon.

Just a final thought - be sure to continue certifying this Sunday even if you haven't received the previous payments yet. Missing a certification can create even more delays. The money for the previous weeks will eventually come through (though I understand how frustrating the wait is), but you don't want to create any gaps in your claim.

•Definitely! I'll keep certifying on schedule no matter what. That's one thing I've learned from previous years - never miss a certification date even if there are other issues going on. Thanks for the reminder though, it's important!

UPDATE: Finally got through to a Tier 2 specialist this morning! There IS a system-wide delay affecting Money Network card transfers for claims filed around the time mine was. The specialist confirmed my payments are approved and the money should be deposited in the next 48 hours. She added a note to expedite the transfer. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions! If anyone else is experiencing this, definitely ask to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can see the payment processing system.

•Great news! Thanks for updating us. This is really helpful information for others experiencing the same issue. Glad you got a knowledgeable specialist who could actually see what was happening rather than just telling you to wait!

•of course they only admit theres a 'system-wide delay' after we all waste days trying to figure it out ourselves!!! why cant they just post this info on their website?? so typical of edd making us do all the work!
