EDD says all weeks certified but no payments received - can't pay mortgage now

I'm at my wit's end with EDD right now! Been certifying regularly since March 3rd with no problems until recently. Suddenly the system is saying all my weeks have been certified, but ZERO payments have hit my account for almost a month now. I finally got through to a rep yesterday after 47 redials (not exaggerating) who told me that apparently my online certifications aren't registering properly in their system. They said they're mailing me paper certification forms that I need to fill out and mail back. HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?? The website literally confirms each certification with a confirmation number! Now I'm about to miss my mortgage payment on the 15th which comes with a $275 late fee that I absolutely cannot afford. Has anyone dealt with this bizarre certification glitch before? I've been checking my UI Online account daily and everything looks normal there - it shows all weeks certified but payment status just says "pending" with no explanation. I'm seriously losing sleep over this.

This happened to me back in February! The system showed all my certifications as completed but no payments were coming through. Turned out there was an "eligibility interview" flag on my account that wasn't visible to me but was holding up all my payments. Did the rep mention anything about pending eligibility issues? Sometimes they don't even tell you about these flags unless you specifically ask.

They didn't mention any eligibility issues at all! Just said something about a "disconnect between the certification system and payment authorization." Whatever that means. Should I call back and specifically ask about eligibility flags? This is so frustrating.

omg the exact same bs happened to my brother last month!!! the online system is such garbage. he ended up having to do paper cerifications for like 6 weeks in a row before they finally fixed whatever was wrong in there system. took almost 2 months to get all his backpay!!

2 MONTHS?! I can't wait 2 months! Did he do anything to speed up the process? I literally can't afford my bills without this money coming in.

What you're experiencing is what's known as a "certification acknowledgment error" in the UI Online system. This happens when the system registers your certification but fails to update the payment processing module. Here's what you need to do: 1. When those paper certifications arrive, fill them out immediately and send them priority mail with tracking. 2. While waiting, call EDD again and specifically ask them to check for a "stop payment alert" or "pending eligibility review" on your account. If there's either one, they can often clear it on the spot. 3. Request that they escalate your case to a Tier 2 specialist who can manually override the system issue. 4. Ask them to note in your file that you're facing financial hardship due to mortgage obligations, as this can sometimes prioritize your case. 5. Make sure to check if your identity verification is fully processed, as incomplete ID.me verification can also cause this issue even if the system doesn't tell you. Hope this helps!

Thank you SO MUCH for this detailed explanation! I had no idea about these stop payment alerts or that they could escalate to a Tier 2 specialist. I'll definitely call again tomorrow morning and ask about these specific things. Really appreciate the help.

Call your mortgage company ASAP! Most have hardship programs that can defer a payment or two. I had to do this last year when my benifits got messed up. It's better to call them BEFORE you miss the payment than after!! They were acually pretty understanding for me.

That's really good advice, thank you. I'll call my mortgage company tomorrow. I was so focused on the EDD problem I didn't even think about contacting them directly about options.

I went through this EXACT nightmare back in January and wasted weeks trying to get through to EDD. Their regular phone lines are literally useless - I'd spend hours just to get disconnected. I finally used Claimyr to get connected to an actual tier 2 specialist who fixed my issue in minutes. Just went to claimyr.com, and they got me through to an EDD rep who actually knew what they were doing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Turns out my issue was that there was a quarterly review flag that was blocking my payments even though I was certifying correctly. The specialist removed the flag and released all my pending payments at once.

EDD is SO BROKEN right now!!! I've been fighting with them since April. Filed appeal, got nowhere. Filed another appeal, still waiting. Now they want me to do phone interview but never call at scheduled time. DONE WITH THEM!!!!

I'm sorry you're dealing with that. The system really seems to be falling apart. Have any of your appeals been successful?

One thing I want to clarify - even though they're sending you paper certifications, you should STILL continue certifying online as well. This creates a paper trail showing you've been attempting to certify properly through both methods. When they eventually sort this out, having documentation of your consistent certification attempts through multiple channels will help your case for backpay.

That's smart, I wouldn't have thought to keep certifying online. I'll definitely do both to create that paper trail. Thank you!

Have u checked ur payment method in ur account settings? My friend thought he wasnt getting paid but turned out his payment preference got switched from direct deposit to debit card somehow. Worth checking if u havent already

Just double-checked and my payment method is still set to direct deposit with the correct bank info. Good thought though! The UI Online account shows the payments as pending, not sent, so they haven't even tried to pay me yet.

Update on what I said earlier: I checked with a friend who works at EDD (not officially speaking for them of course), and they mentioned there was a system update in late August that caused certification issues for some accounts. This might explain why your certifications suddenly stopped processing correctly. When you call, specifically mention the "August system update" and ask if your account was affected. This specific wording might help the rep identify the issue faster.

This is really helpful info! That timing would perfectly match when my problems started. I'll definitely mention the August system update when I call. Thank you for checking with your friend!

I'm glad I found this thread because I'm having a similar issue! Been certifying for months and suddenly my payments stopped processing in August too. I'm going to try calling with some of the tips from this thread tomorrow. OP, please update us if you get your situation resolved and how you did it!

Will definitely post an update once I get this resolved. Good luck with your call tomorrow - hope you get your payments soon too!

UPDATE: Finally got this resolved! For anyone with similar issues - I called this morning and specifically asked about both the August system update AND if there were any stop payment alerts. The rep confirmed there was a system error that affected accounts certifying on the last weekend of August (which is when I certified). They had to manually override something in the system and release my payments. The money should be in my account within 48 hours! Thank you everyone for your help - especially the tip about asking for a Tier 2 specialist and mentioning the August update specifically. That seemed to immediately help the rep understand my issue.
