EDD payment delayed after normal certification - Tuesday deposit never arrived

Just certified on Sunday night like I always do, but something weird happened this time. My payment usually hits my account by Tuesday morning without fail, but it's now Wednesday and I'm still showing $0 deposited. My UI Online account says 'paid' for the certification, but the money isn't in my bank account yet. This is the first hiccup I've had since I started claiming in February. Has anyone else experienced random delays like this recently? Getting kind of nervous since rent is due Monday and I was counting on this payment. Any insights appreciated!

Check your payment history in UI Online to see if there's a transaction number. If it shows 'paid' with a transaction number but no deposit, it could just be a bank processing delay. Sometimes it takes an extra 24-48 hours if there are holidays or system maintenance. The recent system updates might be affecting things. Don't panic yet!

Thanks for the quick response! I just checked and it does show 'paid' with a transaction number. You're right, maybe it's just slower this week. Do you know if EDD sends any kind of notification if there's a hold or problem with the payment?

omg this EXACT thing happened to me last month!!! total nightmare. took FOUR DAYS to show up in my account. EDD said it was sent but my bank was like 'we dont see anything' and i was stuck in the middle freaking out. check if ur payment method changed from direct deposit to debit card maybe??

Oh no! That sounds stressful. Just checked and my payment method is still set to direct deposit, so that's not it. Four days would put me at Friday, which is cutting it close for rent but at least I'd have it before the weekend. Did you end up calling EDD about it or did it just randomly appear?

If UI Online shows 'paid' status but no deposit, I'd recommend calling EDD directly to confirm there are no issues with your claim. Sometimes there can be payment holds that aren't immediately visible on your account. The payment method might have accidentally switched from direct deposit to Money Network card, or there might be a verification issue causing the delay. Better to check now than wait and worry.

good luck actually getting through to anyone at EDD lol. been trying for 2 weeks straight and keep hearing "we're experiencing higher than normal call volume" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I know the frustration with EDD phone lines all too well. I've had success using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative without the endless redial game. They connect you with an agent usually within an hour. Worth checking out their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or visiting claimyr.com if you're desperate to speak with someone at EDD. Definitely saved me when I had payment issues last month.

There's actually a processing delay affecting many accounts this week - I'm an EDD call center rep. The system flagged some accounts during Sunday's maintenance window causing payment processing delays. Most are resolving automatically within 72 hours (so by Thursday). If you don't see the deposit by Friday morning, then call in. The good news is that if UI Online shows 'paid,' the money is definitely coming - it's just a matter of when.

Thank you so much for this insider info! That's a huge relief to know there's a known system issue and I'm not just randomly selected for a problem. I'll wait until Friday morning before panicking then. Much appreciated!

Is this why my friend also didn't get paid? She certified Sunday too and is having the same problem but her account says pending not paid???

If your friend's account says 'pending' rather than 'paid,' that's a different issue. The system delay I mentioned only affects payments that have already been approved and show as 'paid.' A 'pending' status usually means there's an eligibility issue that requires review or additional information. Your friend should call EDD as soon as possible to determine what's causing the pending status.

I had exactly the same thing happen back in January. Certified Sunday, usually got paid Tuesday, but nothing came through. Called my bank and they said no pending deposits. Called EDD (took FOREVER to get through) and they said the payment was sent but sometimes there's a 'processing delay' whatever that means. Money finally showed up Thursday afternoon. Super stressful when you're counting on that money for bills! The most annoying part is that EDD doesn't notify you when there's a delay. Like, just send a text message saying 'your payment might be delayed' so people don't freak out thinking they've been disqualified or something.

That's a relief to hear other people have experienced this and it resolved itself! Thursday afternoon would work for me - just need it before the rent's due. You're so right about the lack of notification. I must have checked my account 20 times yesterday wondering what was happening. A simple alert would save everyone so much anxiety!

Yes!! It finally hit my account this morning (Thursday)! Just a weird delay like you and others mentioned. Thanks everyone for the reassurance - helped keep me from panicking!

Great to hear it resolved itself! For future reference, always give it at least 72 hours after certification before worrying about payment delays. The EDD system has scheduled maintenance periods that can occasionally cause these temporary hiccups. As long as your UI Online account shows 'paid' status, the money is on its way.
