EDD making me reopen claim right after approval? Can't get past automated system!
I just got approved for unemployment last week, but now they're telling me I need to reopen my claim to certify? This is so frustrating. I've been trying to call them all day and keep getting connected to machines. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare. I had to reopen my claim too, even though I'd just been approved. It's like they want to make this as difficult as possible 🙄

•Yep, same boat here. Took me weeks to finally get through to someone. Keep trying, eventually you'll get a human!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of frustration.

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I wasted way more than $20 worth of time trying to get through on my own.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling first thing in the morning, right when they open. That's your best shot at getting through. 2. If you get a machine, hang up and redial immediately. 3. Try calling on different days of the week. Some days are busier than others. 4. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. They might ask for your SSN, claim number, and employment history. 5. If all else fails, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help push things through. Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but don't give up!

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling right when they open tomorrow. Fingers crossed 🤞

•This is solid advice. I'd add: use multiple phones if you can. I had my cell, house phone, and my partner's cell all dialing at once. Eventually got through!

I had this exact same issue last month. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was causing a bunch of claims to need "reopening" even though they were active. When I finally got through, the rep fixed it in like 2 minutes. Such a waste of time and stress.

•Oh wow, that's good to know. Maybe that's what's happening with mine too. Did you have to do anything special to get it fixed?

•Nah, the rep just had to do something on their end. But def mention the glitch when u get through, might save some time
