EDD claim reopened after appeal - paid after certifying without interview?
Finally got my claim reopened in February after winning my appeal (took 3 months!)... I certified yesterday but I'm super confused about the payment timeline. When I called EDD last week, I actually got through to someone who said I wouldn't need another eligibility interview since I already went through the appeal process. I completed my bi-weekly certification yesterday (Sunday) and I'm wondering - will the payment hit my Money Network card tomorrow? Or does it still go through some kind of review process first? I've got rent due Friday and I'm stressing out!!! This is the first time I've certified since the appeal was approved.

If you certified Sunday and there are no holds on your account, you should see the payment status change to 'paid' in your UI Online portal within 24-48 hours. Then it typically takes another 24 hours for the funds to hit your Money Network card. So assuming everything goes smoothly, yes, you should see the money by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. But keep checking your UI Online account for status updates.

•Thank you!!! I'll keep checking the portal. What if it stays as 'pending' past Wednesday? Should I panic then or is that still normal??

I wouldn't count on it coming tomorrow tbh. EDD is SO unpredictable. I've had payments take anywhere from 1 day to 2 WEEKS after certifying!!! It's ridiculous how they expect people to budget when you never know when the money will actually show up. And the phone system is USELESS - I tried calling 47 times last month when my payment was stuck in pending and couldn't get through. The whole system is broken!!

The EDD rep was correct - you typically don't need another eligibility interview after winning an appeal. The appeal decision supersedes the previous disqualification. If you certified on Sunday and the rep confirmed there are no other issues, your payment should process normally. One thing to watch for: check if you have any "penalty weeks" applied to your claim from before. Those would show in your UI Online account, and they would delay payment even after a successful appeal. If you don't see any penalty weeks and your claim is active, then the standard timeline applies: payment shows as 'paid' within 24-48 hours, then transfer to your payment method within another day.

•I didn't even think about penalty weeks! Just checked my account and I don't see anything about that, so hopefully I'm in the clear. Thanks for the detailed info!

Have you tried calling them? Whenever I had issues with my claim I would just call and they fixed it right away. I remember last summer my certification was pending for like 3 weeks and one call fixed it in 5 minutes.

•I tried calling a few times yesterday but kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message. It's so frustrating!

•If you need to get through to a rep, try using Claimyr. It helped me get through to EDD when my payments were stuck after my appeal. It basically keeps dialing for you until it gets through. I was skeptical but it actually worked - got through to a rep in about 20 mins when I'd been trying for days on my own. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and sign up at claimyr.com. Might be worth it if your payment doesn't show up in a couple days.

Another important thing to remember is to keep certifying for benefits every two weeks, even if one payment is pending. Missing a certification can create more problems with your claim. And make sure all your work search activities are properly documented for each week you certify.

•Yes, I've got reminders set for every other Sunday! And I've been keeping detailed notes of all my job applications and interviews. Not making that mistake again - that documentation issue is what caused my disqualification the first time around.
