EDD UI Online password reset nightmare - stuck in passcode loop for hours
I'm at my wits' end trying to access my UI Online account! Yesterday I spent over 2 hours on the phone with EDD because I couldn't log in. The rep tried to help me reset my password FOUR separate times, but every time we got to the passcode verification step, the system wouldn't accept the code they sent! The rep would read back the exact same code I received, but clicking 'Submit' just caused the page to refresh without any error message. We tried both text and email passcodes with the same result. The rep eventually transferred me to technical support who put me on hold for another 45 minutes before disconnecting me! I have bills due next week and desperately need to certify. Has anyone else experienced this password reset loop? Any tricks to make the passcode submission actually work?

The same thing happened to me last month! Their system is ridiculous. What worked for me was trying at exactly 6am when their system does some kind of reset. I also cleared my browser cache completely and used Chrome in incognito mode. For some reason, the passcode would only work if I waited exactly 30 seconds after receiving it before submitting. Any sooner or later and it would fail silently like you described. Also, make sure you're using the desktop site - the mobile version has all kinds of weird glitches with the password reset flow.

•Thank you! I'll definitely try the early morning approach and the 30-second timing trick. I was using Firefox - maybe that's part of the problem? I just need to get in before my certification deadline on Sunday. Really appreciate the specific tips!

•Creating a new email is NOT the solution and could potentially cause identity verification issues with your claim. The proper steps are to contact EDD technical support directly through their designated channels. While the system can be frustrating, taking shortcuts like creating new email accounts can flag your account for fraud review, which will delay your benefits even longer.

I work in IT and this sounds like a classic case of cookies/cache conflict or potentially a browser compatibility issue. Here's what to try in this exact order: 1. Try a completely different device if possible (borrow someone's laptop) 2. If that's not possible, try a different browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari) 3. Clear ALL cookies and cache before attempting 4. Disable any browser extensions or add-ons temporarily 5. Make sure your browser is fully updated 6. Try a wired connection instead of WiFi if possible Also, the EDD system performs maintenance usually between 8pm-5am, so attempting during business hours is crucial. If all else fails, you may need to request an account unlock by submitting the formal request through their secondary system.

•Thank you for these detailed steps! I just tried with Edge instead of Firefox and still had the same issue. I'll borrow my sister's MacBook tomorrow and see if Safari makes any difference. Is there any particular time of day that's less busy on their system? I was thinking maybe mid-afternoon might have fewer people trying to log in.

I had a similar password reset issue but it was because I was entering my SSN with dashes when their system wanted it without dashes. Tried for days before figuring that out! Maybe check if you're formatting something wrong in one of the fields?

•That's a good point! I'll double-check how I'm entering my SSN. The frustrating thing is that the rep on the phone was entering everything themselves on their end and it still wouldn't work. But maybe they were making the same formatting mistake!

After dealing with EDD login issues for WEEKS, I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an actual EDD tech support rep in under 20 minutes. The regular phone line is completely useless. With Claimyr I got through to someone who could manually reset my account access. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their site is claimyr.com. Seriously saved me after weeks of password reset hell.

•I've been hesitant to try third-party services for EDD issues. Has anyone else used this Claimyr thing? Did they ask for your personal information? I'm always concerned about security with unemployment-related matters, especially with all the fraud that's been happening.

This is a known issue with the EDD UI Online system that's been occurring since their last major update in January 2025. The password reset system has a validation error that occurs approximately 15-20% of the time. While this isn't the answer you want to hear, sometimes persistence is required. Here are the official steps: 1. Request password reset between 10am-2pm PT (system is less busy) 2. When receiving the passcode, enter it within 60 seconds (they expire quickly) 3. If it fails, wait a full 24 hours before attempting again (trying repeatedly can trigger security protocols) 4. After 3 failed attempts, you need to call the technical support line directly at 1-833-978-2511 During your call, request a 'full account reset' rather than just a password reset. This clears any security flags that might be preventing normal reset procedures.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! I didn't realize there was a 24-hour waiting period recommended between attempts. That might explain why nothing was working after multiple tries. I'll call and specifically ask for the 'full account reset' tomorrow morning.

When I had this issue, I discovered it was because I was logged into my Google account on Chrome. For some bizarre reason, EDD's password reset system conflicts with certain Google authentication protocols. Try logging out of ALL Google services, close your browser completely, reopen in incognito/private mode, and then attempt the reset. This fixed it for me after 5 days of frustration!

UPDATE: I finally got it working! Used a combination of everyone's advice - borrowed my sister's MacBook, used Safari in private browsing mode, cleared all cookies first, and tried at exactly 10:15am. The passcode finally went through! Now I'm caught up on my certifications. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•Great to hear! You might want to set up alternate contact methods in your account now while you're in. Add both email and phone for recovery options to avoid this happening again. And document exactly what worked for you in case you need it in the future!
