EDD UI Online account locked after password change - system won't recognize new credentials

I'm completely frustrated with UI Online right now! I hadn't logged in since filing my last certification two weeks ago, and today when I tried, I got this message saying my account is locked due to 'too many login attempts' - which makes zero sense because this was my FIRST attempt! The system prompted me to change my password, so I went through that whole process, got the confirmation email, created a new password... and now it's telling me my 'email and password combination do not exist'?! Has anyone else run into this ridiculous loop recently? I've tried clearing my browser cache, using a different device, everything. If I can't figure this out tonight I'll have to call tomorrow, but we all know how that goes... Any suggestions before I waste my entire morning on hold?

Thanks, I'll try incognito. Did that actually work for you? I'm getting desperate here!

The EDD website is total trash honestly. They probably did some system update that messed everything up AGAIN. When I got locked out in January they told me it would be fixed in 24 hours but it took 3 days and I missed my certification window. Then I had to call and explain and restart my whole claim!!! This system is designed to make us give up.

That's what I'm afraid of! I really can't afford to miss this certification. Did you have to submit a new claim or did they just reactivate your existing one?

They reactivated it but I had to do the missed certification over the phone with them which took FOREVER. The rep kept putting me on hold to 'check with a supervisor' about every single question.

This is actually a common issue with UI Online after their recent security upgrades. Here's what you need to do: 1. Do NOT attempt any more password resets yet 2. Wait at least 30 minutes for their system to fully process your last password change 3. Try logging in with your email and NEW password (make sure caps lock is off) 4. If that doesn't work, try the 'Forgot Email Address' option rather than 'Forgot Password' 5. The system will send a different type of recovery link If none of that works, you'll need to call, but specifically ask for the technical support unit, not regular claims. They're actually a separate department.

Thank you! I'll try these steps right now. I didn't know about the technical support unit - is there a direct number for them or do I need to go through the main line?

Unfortunately they don't have a direct public number. You have to call the main EDD line (1-800-300-5616) and specifically request the technical support unit when you get through. Make sure to mention it's an account access issue, not a claim question.

I actually just fixed this exact issue yesterday!! What worked for me was clearing all cookies (not just cache), closing my browser completely, then waiting 1 hour before trying again. For some reason the EDD system has a delay in processing password changes but doesn't tell you that anywhere. So frustrating!

That's a good tip about the 1 hour wait - I was trying again every few minutes which probably made it worse. I'll give that a shot, thanks!

when this happened to me the only thing that worked was calling EDD and having them manually reset everything on their end...took forever to get through tho

If you need to reach EDD by phone, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was stuck in a similar situation last month and spent days trying to get through. Claimyr's service connected me to an EDD rep in about 22 minutes when I'd been trying for 3 days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep I spoke with was able to reset my account access right away. Saved me so much frustration!

Have you checked if your account might be flagged for identity verification issues? Sometimes when EDD has a question about your identity, they'll lock the account but the error message is misleading and just says it's about password attempts. I had something similar happen and it turned out I needed to complete ID.me verification AGAIN even though I'd already done it when I first applied. The rep told me their system sometimes triggers random reverifications.

Oh that's interesting - I hadn't considered that. Is there a way to check if I need to redo ID.me verification without calling them? I don't see any notifications about it in my account (what I can access of it anyway).

You can try going directly to ID.me and seeing if there's a pending verification request from EDD. Sometimes they send those without updating the main EDD portal. Also check your email spam folder for anything from ID.me or EDD about verification.

UPDATE: I tried the suggestion from @profile5 about clearing all cookies, closing the browser completely, and waiting an hour. It worked! I'm back in my account now. Thanks everyone for your help! For anyone else having this issue, the key seems to be patience - don't keep trying repeatedly like I was doing.

Great news! Glad it worked for you! Yeah, the EDD system is so weird with these timing issues. They really should put a message telling people to wait instead of letting us frantically try over and over.
