EDD Certification Error: Can't Submit, Need Help ASAP

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble certifying for my unemployment benefits. Every time I try to submit my certification, I get an error message. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Ugh, I've been there. The certification process can be such a pain. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that helps with weird website errors.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try and see if it helps. Fingers crossed 🤞

clearing cache worked for me last time. good luck OP!

What kind of error message are you getting? Is it saying something specific about eligibility or is it just a general technical error?

It's just a general error message, doesn't say anything specific about eligibility. Just says 'An error occurred while processing your request' or something like that.

Hmm, sounds like it might be a technical issue then. Have you tried using a different device or browser? Sometimes that can make a difference.

I haven't tried that yet. I'll give it a shot on my phone and see if that works. Thanks for the idea!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0UZGuPWGErg

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but when you're dealing with benefits that could be hundreds or thousands of dollars, sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

Have you checked the unemployment website for any system maintenance announcements? Sometimes they do updates that can cause issues for a few hours.

man, i feel you. been strugling with this for weeks now. its like they WANT us to give up or something 😤

Ikr? It's like we're playing a game of 'How patient can you be?' with the unemployment office 🙄

Here's a detailed breakdown of what you can try: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies 2. Try a different browser or device 3. Check for system maintenance announcements on the official website 4. Make sure you're entering all information correctly (dates, SSN, etc.) 5. Try certifying at a different time of day (sometimes the system is less busy late at night or early morning) 6. If all else fails, you might need to contact them directly. You can try calling, but be prepared for long wait times. Some people have had success contacting their local unemployment office or reaching out via social media. If none of these work, you might want to consider using a paid service like the one mentioned in another comment to get through to a representative. It's not ideal to have to pay, but sometimes it's worth it to get your issue resolved quickly. Hope this helps! Let us know what ends up working for you.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll work my way through these steps and hopefully one of them will do the trick. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out!

I had a similar issue last month. Turned out my claim had been flagged for review for some reason. Had to wait for them to sort it out on their end. Might be worth checking if there's any messages or alerts on your account page.

Oh, that's a good point. I'll double-check my account for any messages. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I had this exact same issue a few weeks ago! Super frustrating. What worked for me was disabling my browser extensions temporarily (especially ad blockers) and making sure JavaScript was enabled. The EDD website can be really picky about browser settings. Also, if you're using Chrome, try switching to Firefox or vice versa - sometimes one browser just works better with their system. Good luck and don't give up! 🙏
