Contacting state rep worked! Stuck EDD payments released after 8 weeks pending

I've been pulling my hair out for the past 8 weeks with my claim stuck in pending hell. I certified religiously every two weeks (accumulating 8 weeks of certifications) but NOTHING was getting paid. My UI Online account showed no issues or flags, just 'pending' over and over. Called EDD literally 47 times over several weeks - either couldn't get through or got disconnected. Running out of options and facing eviction, I finally emailed my state assembly member yesterday using their constituent services form. GUYS - within 24 HOURS my claim was fixed and all 8 weeks switched from pending to paid!!! Money should hit my Money Network card tomorrow. If you're stuck in pending limbo, don't wait as long as I did - reach out to your assembly member or state senator. Has anyone else had success with this approach? Still shocked at how fast it worked after months of EDD ghosting me.

This is absolutely the right approach when you've exhausted normal channels! I work as a paralegal and have helped several clients navigate EDD issues. Here's why contacting your assembly member works: they have dedicated EDD liaisons who can escalate your case directly. For best results, include your full name, last 4 of SSN, claim ID (if you have it), and a brief timeline of your issue when you contact them. They typically respond within 1-3 business days, though your 24-hour turnaround is impressively fast! Make sure to thank your rep's office - their constituent services teams work hard on these cases.

Thank you for explaining how it works behind the scenes! I just emailed a thank you note to the staff member who helped me. I included all that info you mentioned except my claim ID (couldn't find it), but they were still able to help. Such a relief after months of stress.

You can find your assembly member by entering your address at http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/ - it will show both your assembly member and state senator. I recommend contacting both for faster results.

I tried contacting my assembly person THREE TIMES and got zero help!! They just sent me a generic response saying "we've forwarded your concern to EDD" and then nothing happened. This whole system is rigged against us regular people. I've been waiting 5 weeks with a "pending eligibility interview" that keeps getting rescheduled. Meanwhile bills are piling up and they don't care AT ALL. So frustrating that it works for some people and not others.

That's frustrating! Eligibility interviews are different from regular pending payments though. For interview issues, you need to specifically ask your assembly member to check if your interview can be expedited. Also, there's a difference between their office sending a standard inquiry vs. a staff member actually escalating your case. Try calling their office directly instead of emailing - sometimes that gets better results for urgent cases.

I've had success using Claimyr to actually get through to EDD when my payments were stuck in pending. After trying for weeks to call myself, I found them at claimyr.com and their service connected me with an EDD agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. My situation was different though - I needed to remove a flag on my account that required speaking with a tier 2 specialist. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone. For some issues like yours, the assembly member route is definitely faster, but for people who need to talk to an actual agent, this service saved me from the call-back loop nightmare.

wait so the state assembly people can just magically fix EDD problems? why isn't this common knowledge????? I've been waiting 6 weeks with payments pending and nobody at EDD mentioned this option!

Because then EVERYONE would contact their representatives and the system would be overwhelmed. My sister works for an assemblymember's office and they're already drowning in EDD cases. Their office handles about 30-50 EDD inquiries every week! Of course EDD doesn't advertise this workaround.

Just to add some helpful context - there are specific situations where contacting your representative works best: 1. Payments stuck in pending with no explanation 2. ID verification issues that have been submitted but not processed 3. Claims that have been under review for more than 3 weeks 4. Cases where you've been told to wait for an interview but it's been more than a month However, reps can't help much with: - Appeal decisions (those have to go through the formal appeal process) - Disputes about wages or employment status - Overpayment negotiations Also worth noting that the EDD fiscal year just started in July 2025, which means some departments have new budgets and staffing. This sometimes leads to faster processing of backlogged claims, which might also explain why your timing worked out well.

This is super helpful! Mine definitely fell into the "payments stuck in pending with no explanation" category. The weird thing is the EDD rep I finally got through to last week said everything looked fine on my account and I just needed to "wait" - clearly something was wrong that only higher-level staff could see/fix.

I called my assemblywoman's office for help with my EDD claim after seeing a post like this in March. Didn't work for me AT ALL. They took my info and said they'd help but nothing happened. I think it depends on which district you're in and how much they actually care about helping people. Some assembly offices probably just ignore these requests.

It definitely varies by office, but did you follow up with them? Most offices won't contact you unless they have news, but a polite follow-up call after 5-7 business days can often restart the process. Also, some representatives have specific staff dedicated to EDD issues, while others handle them more generally. It's worth asking to speak directly with whoever handles their EDD cases specifically.

Update: Just got all my back payments deposited to my Money Network card this morning! That was literally 30 hours from when I contacted my assembly member to money in my account. I seriously wish I had done this 7 weeks ago. For anyone wondering, I just went to my assembly member's website, filled out their contact form, explained my situation briefly, included my contact info and last 4 of SSN, and mentioned I was facing possible eviction. Maybe the housing situation made them prioritize it? Either way, I'm so relieved right now.

just sent my email to both my assembly person and state senator! fingers crossed it works as fast as yours did. did they contact you before fixing it or did it just suddenly change in the system?

@user7 A staff person emailed me saying they'd submitted an inquiry to their EDD liaison, then I got another email when it was resolved. It was super fast. Good luck!!
