Contacting EDD through State Assembly office - GAME CHANGER for my stuck claim!
OMG you guys - I HAVE to share this because I've been stuck in EDD hell for almost 2 months trying to get my claim processed. After calling 200+ times (literally counted), waiting on hold for HOURS only to be disconnected, and getting nowhere with UI Online messages, I finally tried something different. My cousin suggested contacting my State Assembly representative's office. I was skeptical but desperate... I found my rep's website, filled out their constituent help form explaining my situation, and someone from their office called me back THE NEXT DAY! The staff person explained they have a direct portal to EDD that bypasses the regular phone system. They submitted my case through their system on Tuesday, and by Friday morning EDD had resolved my identity verification issue and released my payments!! Two months of frustration solved in 3 days. I'm still in shock. If you're struggling to get through to EDD, PLEASE try this route - it actually works!

•Yes 100% sure - the money is literally in my account now! I was super skeptical too, but the Assembly office staff was really professional. They even called me back to follow up after EDD resolved my issue.

This is absolutely correct and more people should know about this option. As someone who worked as an employment counselor, I can confirm that Legislative offices have special access channels to EDD that bypass the regular phone systems. When a State Assembly person's office submits an inquiry, it gets routed to a dedicated team at EDD that handles these cases with higher priority. This isn't cutting the line - it's an intentional system designed to help constituents when normal channels fail. One important tip: when you contact your Assembly member's office, be very specific about your issue and include your EDD Customer Account Number, the last four of your SSN, and exactly what's happening with your claim. This helps them create a more effective inquiry on your behalf.

•This has been making me SO nervous to try - does EDD ever get mad that you went "over their heads" to a representative? I've been waiting 6 weeks with a pending status and I'm desperate, but scared of making things worse somehow...

I had the exact opposite experience. Contacted my assemblymember's office and they took all my info, said they'd submit it to EDD, and then...NOTHING for 3 weeks. Called them back twice and they just said "we're waiting to hear back from EDD" each time. Meanwhile I STILL can't get anyone on the phone at EDD and my bills are piling up. Maybe depends on which district you're in or who your rep is? This system is BROKEN beyond belief.

•Try Claimyr instead. I was in the same boat, couldn't get through for weeks. Claimyr got me connected to an EDD rep in less than 30 minutes. Worth every penny because I finally got my claim fixed. Just go to claimyr.com and watch their demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km to see how it works. Way faster than waiting for the Assembly office to get back to you.

To add some clarity here - Assembly Member assistance is generally effective, but results can vary based on several factors: 1. The complexity of your specific EDD issue (identity verification issues typically resolve faster than eligibility determinations) 2. Your Assembly Member's office staffing and workload (some offices are better equipped than others) 3. Current EDD backlog status (which fluctuates throughout the year) While this approach often works well, you may want to pursue multiple resolution paths simultaneously. For immediate issues, especially if you're facing financial hardship, don't wait exclusively on the Assembly office response. Continue attempting to reach EDD directly and consider using the UI Online messaging system for documentation purposes.

I finally heard back from my Assembly person's office yesterday - turns out they WERE working on my case but EDD was being slow to respond to them too! The case worker told me EDD has a 10-business-day response time even for their office. But they DID finally get my issue resolved - my claim had a "quarterly review flag" whatever that means, and now it's cleared. So I take back my previous comment - it DID work, just took longer than I hoped.

•So glad they finally helped you get it resolved! The waiting is so stressful, especially when bills are due. My rep's office was faster, but maybe that's because my issue was just identity verification vs. something more complicated like yours sounded. Either way, still better than trying to call EDD directly!

Just wanted to update - I tried contacting my Assembly Member yesterday after seeing this thread. Their website had a specific form for EDD issues that asked for all my claim details. Someone already called me this morning to confirm they received everything and are sending it to EDD today! They said typical turnaround is 7-10 business days for EDD to review and respond. I'm cautiously optimistic... I'll update again when I hear something!

•That's excellent! One thing to keep in mind - after your Assembly Member submits the inquiry, EDD will likely attempt to contact you directly to resolve the issue. Make sure you answer calls from unknown or blocked numbers for the next week or so. Sometimes, EDD representatives will only make 1-2 attempts to reach you before marking the issue as "claimant unavailable," which can delay resolution further.

i tried this last year when my benifits got stuck and it worked! took about a week but then edd called me directly and fixed everything on the spot. the assembly person didnt do anything themselves but there getting edd to actually look at your case is the hard part anyway lol

This is such valuable information! I've been dealing with a stuck claim for 5 weeks now and had no idea this was even an option. Just looked up my Assembly Member's website and they do have a specific EDD assistance form. Quick question for anyone who's done this - do you need to provide any documentation beyond what's requested on the form, or is filling out their online form sufficient to get the process started? I have all my EDD correspondence saved just in case, but want to make sure I'm submitting everything they need upfront to avoid delays.

•From my experience, just filling out their online form was enough to get started! I included my EDD Customer Account Number, the basic details of my issue, and how long I'd been waiting. The Assembly office staff called me the next day and asked for any additional documentation they needed during that phone call. They were really helpful about walking me through what else they needed. I'd say go ahead and submit the form now - you can always send additional docs later if they request them. The key is just getting your case into their system so they can start the inquiry process with EDD.

This is incredibly helpful information - thank you so much for sharing! I've been stuck in EDD limbo for 7 weeks now with a "pending" status and getting absolutely nowhere with their phone system. I had no idea that Assembly Members had this kind of direct access to EDD. Just found my representative's website and they have a dedicated EDD assistance page with a form that looks pretty straightforward. One question - did you have to provide any proof that you'd already tried contacting EDD directly first, or did they just take your word for it? I'm worried they might require documentation showing I've exhausted other options before they'll help. Either way, I'm definitely going to try this tomorrow morning. After reading through all these comments, it seems like even when it takes longer than expected, it's still way more effective than the regular EDD channels. Really appreciate you taking the time to post about this - you might have just saved my sanity!

•No, they didn't ask for any proof that I'd tried EDD first - they just took my word for it when I explained the situation. The form I filled out had a section where I described what steps I'd already taken, and I mentioned the phone calls and online messages, but they didn't want screenshots or anything like that. I think they understand that if you're reaching out to them, you've probably already been frustrated by the normal channels! The staff person who called me was really understanding and didn't make me jump through any hoops to prove I deserved help. Definitely submit that form - worst case scenario they ask for more info, but in my experience they just want to help constituents get their issues resolved. Good luck!
