PFL nightmare: Can't report wages, no forms received, phone lines always busy. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a real headache trying to report wages to PFL after my leave ended. I've been calling them almost every day for weeks but can't get through. The website said they'd send forms to report wages, but I never got them. Now I'm stuck not knowing how to report and can't reach anyone for help. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a human there or report these wages?

Ugh, PFL is such a nightmare to deal with. I swear they make it difficult on purpose 🙄 Have you tried faxing them? Sometimes old school methods work when their phone lines are jammed.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, I might give that a shot if I can find a fax machine. Do you know their fax number?

careful with faxing tho. make sure you get a confirmation it went thru. I faxed some stuff once and they claimed they never got it 🙄

I feel your pain, OP. I was in the same boat last year. What finally worked for me was emailing them every single day until someone responded. It took about two weeks of persistence, but I finally got through. Here's the email I used: pfl@yourstate.gov

Thanks for the tip! I'll start bombarding their inbox right away. Fingers crossed it doesn't take two weeks tho 😩

Have you tried going to their office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these bureaucratic nightmares.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks to talk to a human? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get the skepticism, but after weeks of trying, it was worth every penny to me. Saved me hours of frustration and hold music torture.

How does it work exactly? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically. They have some tech that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Beats sitting on hold for hours yourself.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I'm gonna break it down for you: 1. Document everything. Every call, every email, every piece of mail. You'll need this paper trail. 2. If you can't get through on the phone, try their social media. Sometimes they're more responsive there. 3. Contact your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can cut through red tape. 4. Look for any online portals where you can submit wage information. Sometimes these exist but aren't well-advertised. 5. If all else fails, send a certified letter with your wage information. This creates a legal record of your attempt to report. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them wear you down. You've got this! 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Never thought about contacting my state rep, that's a great idea.

Solid advice right here. Wish I had known all this when I was dealing with PFL last year. Ended up taking me 3 months to sort everything out 😫

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. The system is so broken. I ended up having to hire a lawyer to deal with PFL when they messed up my claim. It sucks, but sometimes that's what it takes to get them to take you seriously.

Oof, I really hope it doesn't come to that. Lawyers are expensive 😬

Yeah, it's not ideal. But if you end up going that route, look for lawyers who do free consultations. Some will work on contingency too.

Hey, former PFL employee here. The system is a mess from the inside too, trust me. Here's a pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's usually when the wait times are shortest. And always ask for a reference number for your call, it helps if you need to follow up later.

Thanks for the insider info! What time do they open?

They open at 8 AM local time. But get ready to dial at 7:59, because the lines fill up fast!

Plot twist: the forms were inside us all along 🤯 But for real, hang in there OP. Bureaucracy is a beast, but you'll slay it eventually!
