PFL claim not processed, can't select direct deposit. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paid family leave claim. I filed it a while back, but it still hasn't been processed. On top of that, I couldn't even select direct deposit for payment. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any advice on how to speed things up or get it sorted out? I'm getting pretty frustrated with the whole process.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call for days, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not having to sit on hold for hours was totally worth it.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before they actually process the claim. Might give you some insight into whats going on.

The whole system is a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. It's like they don't even care about us. 🤬

Preach! 🙌 The government needs to get its act together. We can't just sit around waiting for them to figure it out.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and online account updates. 2. Be persistent. Call regularly, but be polite to the agents - they're usually trying their best. 3. Check your spam folder. Sometimes important emails end up there. 4. If you can't select direct deposit online, ask about it when you finally get through on the phone. 5. Consider reaching out to your state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with these issues. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums specific to your state's PFL program. Other claimants often have great tips. 7. If your claim is taking an unusually long time, ask about expediting it due to financial hardship. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but you'll get through this!

Hey OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a lot depending on where you live.

Ah gotcha. CA can be tough. Have you tried reaching out to the EDD on Twitter? Sometimes they respond faster there.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should privatize the whole system. Govt clearly can't handle it efficiently. 🤷♂️

Yeah, because private insurance companies are sooo much better at handling claims quickly and fairly. /s

Fair point. I guess the grass always seems greener. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Has anyone had luck with the online chat feature? I've been thinking about trying that instead of calling.

I tried it last week. Waited 2 hours to connect, then got disconnected. 0/10 would not recommend.

It worked for me! But I had to try a few times before I got through. Still better than being on hold forever tho
