PFL claim filed - now what? Tips for contacting the office?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my paid family leave claim. I filed it recently but I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips on how to get in touch with the office? I've been trying to call but no luck so far.

Ugh, dealing with the paid family leave office is such a pain. I filed my claim like 2 months ago and still haven't heard anything back. Good luck getting through on the phone, it's like trying to win the lottery 🙄

Same here! I've been calling every day for weeks. It's so frustrating 😤

Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that works better than calling

Faxing? What is this, 1995? 😂 But seriously, might give that a shot. Thx for the tip!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds crazy, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play, ya know?

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! Basically, you choose the number you want to call on their website, pay the fee, and then their system starts calling. It navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person answers, it calls your phone and connects you. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with paid family leave claims: 1. Document everything! Keep copies of all forms and correspondence. 2. Be persistent. Call regularly, but try different times of day. 3. Use the online portal if available. Sometimes it's faster than phone. 4. If you're really stuck, contact your local representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. 5. Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with the PFL laws in your state. 6. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. Have your claim number, SSN, and other relevant details ready. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but you'll get through it eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely start documenting everything better.

Great advice! I'd add: set up email alerts if possible. Some states send updates that way.

I tried that last month. Waited 4 hours only to be told I needed to call instead. Total waste of time 😑

Anyone know if the process is different for bonding leave vs medical leave? I'm about to have a baby and I'm already stressing about the paperwork 😰

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying!

What time do they open? Might have to set an alarm lol

In my state, it's 8am. But double-check for yours!

This whole system is a joke. We pay into it our whole working lives and then when we need it, we can't even access it. Someone should sue the state for this bs

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose

Calm down, Karen. It's not perfect but at least we have the benefit. Some states don't even offer paid leave.
