PFL claim approved but only received one check - EDD delays?

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my PFL claim. It was approved a couple weeks ago, but I've only received one check so far. Has anyone else experienced delays in getting their payments? I'm starting to get worried about how I'll cover my bills if this keeps up. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact?

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? It's a total nightmare getting through, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

It's legit! You just enter your phone number on their website, pay the fee, and they start calling EDD for you. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected.

I get it, but honestly, after wasting hours trying to call myself, it was worth every penny. Saved me so much stress.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your claim status online. Sometimes there are updates there that don't get mailed out. 2. Make sure all your certifications are up to date. Missing even one can delay payments. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them through the EDD website. It's slow, but they do respond eventually. 4. Contact your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along. 5. Keep detailed records of all your attempts to contact EDD. This can be helpful if you need to file a complaint later. Hang in there! The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off.

This happened to me last year. Turns out they needed additional documentation but never told me. Check your online account for any messages or requests you might have missed.

Thanks, I'll take another look. The EDD website is so confusing though!

Tell me about it! It's like they designed it to be as user-unfriendly as possible 🤦‍♂️

The whole system is broken. We need to organize and demand better service from EDD. Who's with me? ✊

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds crazy in 2023, but I got a response within a week when I faxed my inquiry. Here's the number I used: 855-027-2666
