Need help changing PFL claim to DI claim with EDD - any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I need to change my PFL claim to a DI claim with EDD. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated. I'm not sure where to start or what steps I need to take. Thanks in advance for any help!

I've been through this before. It's a bit of a hassle, but doable. First, you need to contact EDD and explain your situation. They'll probably ask you to fill out some new forms for the DI claim. Make sure you have all your medical documentation ready. It might take a while, so be patient!

•Thanks for the info! Do you remember how long the process took for you? I'm a bit worried about the gap in benefits while I'm waiting for the switch.

•It took about 3-4 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Definitely call them ASAP to get the ball rolling. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD and explain your situation 2. Ask for the specific forms you need to fill out for changing from PFL to DI 3. Gather all your medical documentation 4. Submit the forms and documentation ASAP 5. Follow up regularly (weekly) to check on the status 6. Be prepared for a possible gap in benefits Remember, persistence is key when dealing with EDD. Don't be afraid to call multiple times if you're not getting clear answers. Good luck!

•This is great advice! I'd add: keep a log of every call you make, including date, time, and name of the person you spoke with. It can be helpful if there are any discrepancies later.

Have you considered talking to your doctor about this? Sometimes they can help expedite the process by directly communicating with EDD about your change in medical status.

Quick question - are you sure you need to change from PFL to DI? Sometimes people confuse the two. PFL is for bonding with a new child or caring for a family member, while DI is for your own disability. Just want to make sure you're on the right track!

•Thanks for checking! Yes, my situation has changed and I now need DI instead of PFL. Appreciate you looking out tho!
