How to follow up on filed family leave claim with EDD? (Dec 10-28)
Hey everyone, I filed for family leave from December 10th to December 28th, and I'm trying to follow up on it. Has anyone had experience with this process? What should I expect? Any tips on how to get updates or make sure everything is moving along smoothly?

I went through this last year. It can be a bit of a waiting game, but here's what I learned: • First, make sure all your paperwork is in order. Double-check that you've submitted everything they asked for. • Keep an eye on your mail and email. They might request additional info. • If you haven't heard anything after about 2 weeks, it's worth giving them a call to check on the status. • Be patient! The process can take time, especially during busy periods. • Document everything – keep copies of all forms and note down any phone calls you make. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! 🙏 I'll definitely keep all of this in mind. Did you find it took the full two weeks before you heard anything back?

In my case, it actually took about 3 weeks before I got any update. But I've heard it can vary a lot depending on how busy they are and how straightforward your case is.

This is great advice! I'd add: make sure ur doctor filled out their part correctly. My claim got delayed cuz of a mistake on the medical form 🙄

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Thats highway robbery! The system is so broken that we have to pay extra just to talk to someone? 😤

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho. And yeah, the system sucks, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do 🤷♂️

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes its faster than waiting for them to contact you.

I didn't even know that was an option! Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely look into that. Do you happen to know where on the website I can find that info?

Sure thing! Log into your account on the EDD website, then look for a section called 'Claim Status' or 'Claim History'. It should show your current claim and its status.
