PFL Claim Process: Tips and Timeframes for Getting Approved?
Hey everyone, I just filed for Paid Family Leave and I'm wondering about the process. Has anyone gone through this recently? How long did it take to get approved? Any tips for dealing with the claim process? I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing and could use some advice.

I filed for PFL last month. It took about 2 weeks to get approved, but I've heard it can vary. Make sure you have all your docs in order - that really speeds things up!

2 weeks? You're lucky! Mine took over a month š« The waiting game is the worst part.

I needed proof of relationship (for bonding leave), medical certification, and employment info. Check their website, they have a good checklist!

Protip: keep calling them! I swear, the squeaky wheel gets the grease with these govt agencies. I called every other day until my claim was processed.

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Wait, seriously? Is that even legal? Sounds too good to be true.

Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

Just went thru this. Here's what I learned: ā¢ File online if possible, it's faster ā¢ Double-check all your info before submitting ā¢ Keep a copy of EVERYTHING ā¢ Follow up regularly (but don't be a pest) ā¢ Be patient, the system is overwhelmed Good luck!

Nah, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The system's just old and underfunded.

Quick question - does anyone know if you can work part-time while on PFL? I might need to do some remote work during my leave.

I think you can, but it might reduce your benefit amount. Check with your employer and PFL office to be sure.

Heads up, they just changed some policies last month. Make sure you're looking at the most up-to-date info on their website!
