EDD only paid for 1 day instead of 8 weeks - How to fix and get full $10k+ payment?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment benefits. I was only paid for one day but I should be getting paid for 8 weeks. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm trying to maximize my payment and get the full $10,000+ I'm owed. Any advice on how to fix this and get the right amount?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so messed up right now. Have you tried calling them? It took me like 50 attempts but I finally got through to someone who could help.

•I've been trying to call for days with no luck. It's so frustrating! How long did you have to wait on hold when you finally got through?

•I was on hold for over 2 hours 😫 But it was worth it to finally get some answers. Keep trying, you'll get through eventually!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in 15 minutes doing that!

I had a similar issue. Turns out there was a glitch in there system that was only processing partial payments. I had to file an appeal to get it fixed. It took a few weeks, but I eventually got my full amount.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there's additional info there about why payments are held up. Also, make sure all your certifications are up to date.

•Yeah, I've been checking obsessively. Everything looks good on my end, which is why this is so confusing. 🤔

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your communications, payments received, and certifications. 2. File an appeal immediately. You can usually do this online through your unemployment portal. 3. Contact your local state representative. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues. 4. If you can get through on the phone, ask to speak with a tier 2 specialist. They have more authority to fix complex issues. 5. Be persistent. Unfortunately, the squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations. 6. Check if there are any local legal aid organizations that can assist you. Some offer free help with unemployment issues. Remember, you're entitled to your full benefits. Don't give up!

I'm in the same boat. Been waiting 12 weeks for them to fix a "system error". The whole thing is a clown show 🤡

I went through something similar last year! Turned out my claim got flagged for "suspicious activity" even though everything was legitimate. What finally worked for me was submitting a written request for escalation through their online portal AND faxing the same request to their appeals department. Having it in writing seemed to get more attention than just calling. Also, if you haven't already, check if there's a "pending issues" section in your account - sometimes there are hidden requirements you need to complete that aren't obvious. Keep fighting for what you're owed!

•Thank you for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the written requests. I'm definitely going to try the fax approach - I hadn't thought of that. Quick question: do you remember how long it took to hear back after you submitted the written escalation request? I'm trying to set realistic expectations for myself while I wait for this mess to get sorted out.
