EDD nightmare: 6 failed attempts to get paid for leave and recomputation. Help!
I've called EDD 6 times now trying to get paid for leave and recomputation. Anyone else having this issue? I keep missing their calls back and it's driving me crazy. Any advice on how to actually get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to reach them for weeks about my disability claim. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to a human being. Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

•Calling when they open doesn't work anymore. Everyone knows that trick now, so the lines are jammed from the second they open. 🤦♂️

•I had some luck calling during lunch hour. Seems like fewer people try then. Worth a shot!

•Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried mornings and afternoons, but no luck so far. Might give the lunch hour a try tomorrow.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤮

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through. Worth every penny imho.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through with EDD. It's worth a shot if you're really stuck.

Okay, here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact EDD. 2. Use the online portal if you haven't already. Sometimes you can resolve issues there without calling. 3. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 4. If you get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-up. 5. Consider using a paid service like Claimyr if you're really desperate. 6. Reach out to your local representatives for help. 7. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for EDD claimants. They often have good tips. Remember, the system is overwhelmed right now, so patience is key. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure you have all your paperwork in order before you call. It'll save time when you finally get through.

Have you checked if theres any updates or letters from EDD in your online account? Sometimes they send important info there and don't bother calling.

•Good point, I'll double-check my online account. Thanks for the reminder!

Unpopular opinion: maybe try faxing them? I know it sounds ancient, but I've heard some people have had success that way. Might be worth a shot if nothing else is working.
