EDD claim pending for 4 weeks, need to extend PFL - can't reach anyone! Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My claim has been pending for 4 weeks now and I really need to get paid. On top of that, I want to continue my paid family leave benefits for another week. I've been trying to reach EDD but no luck so far. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get through to them?

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD is a nightmare to deal with. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that a few times. No luck so far 😞 It's like they're purposely making it hard to reach them!

Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep redialing until you get through. It's annoying but it worked for me after like 50 tries lol

I've heard people having success calling on Wednesdays for some reason. Maybe give that a shot?

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

How long did you have to wait once they started calling?

It took about an hour and a half, but I just went about my day and they called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through with EDD. Worth a shot!

I'm in the same boat, fam. Been waiting for 6 weeks now and can't get anyone on the phone. This system is so broken 😤

6 weeks?! That's insane. How are we supposed to survive like this?

ikr? It's like they forget we have bills to pay and families to feed. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Use the online portal to send a message about your claim status. Sometimes they respond faster this way. 3. If you haven't already, file an appeal for the pending claim. This can sometimes kickstart the process. 4. Reach out to your state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can intervene on your behalf. 5. Check if you qualify for any hardship assistance programs in your area while you wait for EDD to get their act together. 6. For the paid family leave extension, make sure you've submitted all necessary medical documentation. Sometimes that's the holdup. 7. If all else fails, consider the phone service others have mentioned or show up in person at an EDD office if possible. Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

It's almost like they make it difficult on purpose so people just give up 🤔

Hey OP, quick question - have you checked if your claim is fully filled out? Sometimes there's a tiny detail missing that holds up the whole process.

Good point! I'll double-check everything. Knowing my luck, I probably missed something stupid 🤦♂️

Not to be that guy, but have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds ancient, but I've heard it can sometimes get faster results than online submissions.

Ugh, EDD is the worst. I had to threaten legal action before they finally processed my claim. It's ridiculous we have to go to such extremes.

Woah, really? Did you actually get a lawyer or just threaten it?

Just threatened it in a strongly worded email. Probably wouldn't have actually done it, but it seemed to light a fire under them lol
