EDD PFL payment showing as processed but not in my account - weekend delay?

So frustrated right now! The EDD automated system says my final baby bonding PFL payment was processed on Jan 27th (Friday) for $1,245, but it's Monday afternoon and still nothing in my account. My previous payments always arrived within 24 hours of processing. Do they actually process/deposit payments on weekends? My rent is due tomorrow and I'm starting to panic! Should I just drive to an EDD office to figure out what's happening with my money? Has anyone experienced payment delays with their final PFL payment?

EDD doesnt actually deposit on weekends, even if the system says processed. Give it til tomorrow morning before freaking out. Mine always says processed 2-3 days b4 it hits my account

Thank you!!! That's slightly reassuring. I just don't understand why THIS payment would take longer than my others. My previous ones always showed up next day. So stressful when you're counting on the money!

The EDD payment system can be confusing. When the system says a payment is 'processed,' that means EDD has approved the payment, but it hasn't necessarily been sent to your bank yet. Bank transfers typically don't process over weekends, and the final payment sometimes takes an extra business day because of additional verification steps. If you don't receive it by Wednesday morning, then it's time to contact EDD directly. For your rent situation, you might want to explain the situation to your landlord with documentation from EDD showing the payment is pending.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I didn't realize final payments might have extra verification steps. I'm going to give it until Wednesday like you suggested. My landlord isn't the most understanding person but hopefully showing the EDD payment confirmation will help.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE LAST MONTH!!! My final PFL payment showed as processed on a Friday but didn't hit my account until THURSDAY the next week! Called EDD 27 times and couldn't get through to anyone. They definitely don't care that we have bills to pay on time. The whole system is broken!!!

omg thursday?? that's crazy long! was there something wrong with your claim or was it just slow processing??

They said something about "additional verification for final payments" but couldn't explain why I wasn't notified. Just typical EDD nonsense making our lives harder!

I went through PFL last year and discovered that reaching EDD by phone is nearly impossible with regular methods. I found this service called Claimyr that actually connects you to an EDD representative without the endless hold times. Saved me hours of frustration! Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 If your payment doesn't show up by tomorrow, it might be worth using this to get a direct answer about what's happening with your payment. The representative can see exactly where your payment is in their system.

Thank you for this suggestion! I've heard about Claimyr from a coworker but wasn't sure if it actually worked. If my payment doesn't arrive by tomorrow afternoon, I'll definitely check out that video and the website. At this point, I just need answers from a real person!

Just to give a different perspectve - I had my baby in November and my baby bonidng payments were always delayed like this. First payment took 9 days to show up after it said "processed" and then the others were 3-4 days. Never had one come next-day like you mentioned. Maybe you were lucky with the earlier ones and this is actually normal processing time? Bank of America handles the EDD debit cards and they're notoriously slow with everything.

That's interesting! I have direct deposit to my credit union, not the BofA card. Maybe that's why my previous ones were faster? I've been checking my account obsessively all day.

Oh direct deposit should be faster! That's weird then. Did you change anything on your last certification? Maybe that triggered some kind of review?

When was your last day of work before starting PFL? I'm wondering if this is related to the transition between SDI maternity leave and PFL baby bonding. My payments got messed up because I returned to work one day between the programs and it confused their system. Had to call multiple times to fix it.

My last day was December 15th, 2024. I had 6 weeks of pregnancy disability (SDI) first, then switched to the 8 weeks of baby bonding (PFL). The transition was actually smooth, surprisingly! This is specifically my final PFL payment that's delayed.

Just checking in - did your payment arrive today? If not, I'd recommend contacting EDD directly. One other thought - did you perhaps file your final certification early? Sometimes filing slightly early can cause a delay while they verify you didn't return to work before the end of your claim period.

IT JUST ARRIVED!! About an hour ago actually. Such a relief! You were right about the delay. I guess the system saying "processed" doesn't mean it's actually been sent to my bank. Thanks everyone for the reassurance and advice - definitely helped keep me from panicking completely!

So glad your payment finally came through! This is really helpful info for anyone else going through PFL delays. I'm currently on my 4th week of baby bonding and this thread is making me realize I should probably expect some delays with my final payment too. It's so stressful when you're counting on that money! Thanks for updating us - I was actually wondering how it turned out for you.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm actually just starting my PFL journey - my baby was born last week and I'm trying to figure out all the paperwork. It's really reassuring to see how supportive everyone is here when dealing with EDD delays and issues. @Isabella Oliveira thanks for sharing your experience and updating us! It s'good to know that even when payments are delayed, they do eventually come through. I ll'definitely keep this thread bookmarked for when I get to my final payment in a few months.
