EDD PFL payment delayed despite online 'sent' status - baby bonding benefits not arriving in bank account
I'm 6 weeks into my baby bonding PFL claim after transitioning from pregnancy disability, and something weird is happening with my payments. I got my first PFL payment deposited perfectly on time, but my second payment that was due yesterday is nowhere to be seen in my account. When I check the EDD portal, it says the payment was processed and 'sent' on March 15, 2025 (5 days ago), but nothing has hit my bank account yet. I never had this issue during my SDI pregnancy disability - those payments were like clockwork every 2 weeks. Anyone else experienced delayed PFL deposits even though the system shows it was sent? I'm getting nervous because I've got childcare expenses coming up and really need this money to clear soon. Is there a different payment schedule for PFL versus SDI that I don't know about?

•Just checked again this morning and still nothing! :( It's been 5 days since it supposedly was sent according to the website. I'm starting to get really worried.

This happened to me during my baby bonding PFL last year. The EDD system showed my payment was issued, but it took almost 7 days to actually show up in my account. The strange thing is that it only happened with one payment - all the others arrived within 1-2 days of showing as 'sent.' If you're on the Bank of America EDD debit card, try checking your account through their website directly rather than just the EDD portal. Sometimes they have more updated information. Also, double-check that nothing changed with your claim status or certification that might have triggered a review.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm using direct deposit to my personal bank, not the B of A card. I just logged into EDD again and everything still shows normal - no flags or pending reviews on my account. I'm going to wait until tomorrow, but if it doesn't show up I'll need to somehow contact them.

OMG the same thing is happening to me right now with my PFL payment!!! I thought it was just me! My first few payments were fine but now this one is late even though it says it was issued. Did you call them? What number did you use? I've been trying the main line and can't get through AT ALL.

•I haven't been able to get through on the phone either! I've tried calling the main PFL number but after 45 minutes on hold it just disconnects me. So frustrating! Let me know if you manage to talk to anyone.

There's actually a technical issue with the EDD payment system right now affecting some PFL claims. My cousin who works for the state mentioned they're having a problem with the new system that handles transitions between pregnancy disability and baby bonding PFL. Something about payment batches not properly transferring to the ACH system for direct deposits. The good news is that the money is allocated to you and will eventually arrive. The bad news is that calling regular customer service probably won't help because most reps don't have visibility into this specific technical issue. You'll need to reach a tier 2 specialist who can check the actual payment processing system.

•Wow, thank you for this information! That would explain why it's only affecting my PFL payments and not my earlier SDI ones. Do you know how long this issue is expected to last? And how do I reach a tier 2 specialist? The regular number keeps disconnecting me.

•According to my cousin, they're working on it, but it could take another 3-5 business days to resolve completely. Unfortunately, tier 2 specialists are hard to reach through the regular channels. You basically need to get through to a regular rep first who can then transfer you to a tier 2 person with access to the payment processing system. The key is getting through to that first rep.

I had this exact issue in January with my third PFL payment. What worked for me was using Claimyr to connect with an EDD agent. It got me through to an actual human in about 20 minutes instead of getting disconnected after waiting forever. The agent was able to see that my payment was stuck in their system and manually pushed it through. The money showed up the next business day. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 Definitely worth it because otherwise I would've been waiting weeks for the system to fix itself. And with a newborn, waiting weeks for money you're counting on is basically impossible.

•does that really work? i thought those services were scams

•Thank you for suggesting this! I'm going to try it tomorrow morning if my payment still hasn't arrived. At this point I'd try anything to speak to an actual person who can help.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I had my baby in January and STILL dealing with payment issues between SDI and PFL. They constantly mess up transition claims and then we're supposed to just wait while our bills pile up?? I've called SIXTY SEVEN TIMES in the last two weeks. The system is deliberately designed to make it impossible to get help. I'm actually filing a complaint with my state assembly member because this is ridiculous.

•Filing a complaint with your assembly member is actually a great idea. They can sometimes put pressure on EDD that individual claimants can't. I've seen cases where legislative offices were able to resolve payment issues within days after people had been waiting weeks on their own.

UPDATE: My payment finally hit my account this morning! That's 7 business days after it showed as 'sent' in the system. I did end up using the Claimyr service yesterday and got through to an agent who told me there was indeed a batch processing issue with some PFL payments that transitioned from SDI claims. She said my payment was already in the final processing stage and should arrive within 24-48 hours, which it did. For anyone else experiencing this - definitely try to speak with an actual agent rather than just waiting. The agent told me they're not automatically notifying affected claimants about the delay, so unless you call, you'll just be left wondering what's happening.

•Thanks for the update! I'm going to try calling again tomorrow. Did they say if this will affect future payments too or just this one?

•So glad your payment finally came through! This is really helpful to know about the batch processing issue. I'm dealing with something similar right now - my PFL payment has been showing as "sent" for 4 days but nothing in my account yet. I transitioned from SDI to PFL about 3 weeks ago and this is my second PFL payment that's delayed. Going to try the Claimyr service today based on everyone's recommendations here. It's crazy that EDD doesn't proactively notify people about these delays - we're already stressed enough with new babies!

•@StarStrider I hope the Claimyr service works for you too! The agent I spoke with said the batch processing issue should be resolved within the next few days, so hopefully your future payments won't have this delay. She mentioned that once they fix the technical glitch, payments should go back to the normal 1-2 day processing time. Definitely worth calling though because at least you'll know what's happening instead of just wondering. Good luck!

I'm going through the exact same situation right now! My PFL payment has been showing as "sent" for 6 days and I'm starting to panic. I also transitioned from SDI to baby bonding PFL and my first PFL payment came through fine, but this second one is just stuck somewhere. Reading through all these comments makes me feel better knowing it's not just me - sounds like there's definitely a systemic issue with the transition payments. I'm going to try the Claimyr service tomorrow morning if my payment still doesn't show up. It's so stressful dealing with this when you're already adjusting to life with a newborn and counting on that income. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in this!

•@Keisha Taylor You re'definitely not alone! I m'a new member here but going through something very similar. My PFL payment has been stuck for 4 days now showing as sent "but" nothing in my bank account. It s'such a relief to read all these experiences and realize this is a known issue with the system rather than something wrong with my specific claim. The stress of not knowing what s'happening while trying to manage everything with a new baby is overwhelming. I m'also planning to try the Claimyr service based on everyone s'positive feedback here. Fingers crossed we both get our payments resolved soon!

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My second PFL payment has been showing as "sent" for 5 days with nothing in my account. Like you, my first PFL payment after transitioning from SDI came through perfectly, but this one is just stuck. Reading all these comments has been so helpful - I had no idea there was a widespread batch processing issue affecting people who transitioned from SDI to PFL. I was starting to think something was wrong with my specific claim. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service tomorrow based on everyone's success stories here. It's frustrating that EDD doesn't notify us about these delays when we're already dealing with the stress and expenses of having a newborn. Thanks for posting about this - knowing I'm not alone makes me feel so much better!

•@Amina Bah I m'so glad I found this thread too! I just joined this community because I m'experiencing the exact same problem - my PFL payment has been stuck at sent "status" for 3 days now after transitioning from SDI. It s'such a relief to know this is a known technical issue and not something wrong with our individual claims. The timing couldn t'be worse with all the new baby expenses, but at least now I have a plan of action with the Claimyr service. This community has been incredibly helpful - I wish EDD would be this transparent about their system issues! Hope we all get our payments sorted out soon.

I'm a new parent going through this exact same nightmare right now! My PFL payment has been showing "sent" for 4 days with absolutely nothing hitting my bank account. I transitioned from SDI to baby bonding PFL about a month ago, and just like everyone else here, my first PFL payment came through fine but this second one is completely stuck. Reading through all these comments has been such a lifesaver - I was starting to panic thinking it was just my claim that got messed up somehow. It's absolutely ridiculous that EDD doesn't send out any kind of notification about these technical issues when they know payments are delayed. We're already stressed enough with newborns and medical bills! I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service first thing Monday morning based on all the success stories here. Has anyone had luck reaching EDD through their standard phone lines lately, or is the third-party service really the only way to get through to someone who can actually help? The timing of this is just awful - I have childcare payments due this week and was counting on this money. Thank you all for sharing your experiences - it's so comforting to know we're not alone in dealing with this broken system!

•@Finley Garrett Welcome to the community! I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this too - the timing really is the worst when you have a newborn and bills piling up. From what I ve'been reading here, it seems like the regular EDD phone lines are pretty much useless right now for this specific issue. Multiple people have mentioned getting disconnected after hours of waiting. The Claimyr service seems to be the only reliable way people have actually gotten through to someone who can see what s'happening with the payment processing system. I m'in the same boat as you - planning to try it first thing Monday if my payment doesn t'magically appear over the weekend. At least now we know this is a known technical issue and not something wrong with our claims specifically. Hang in there!

I'm a new member here and going through the exact same situation! My PFL payment has been stuck at "sent" status for 6 days now after transitioning from SDI to baby bonding leave. My first PFL payment came through perfectly, but this second one is just sitting somewhere in their system. Reading through all these comments has been incredibly reassuring - I was starting to think something was specifically wrong with my claim. It's frustrating that EDD doesn't proactively communicate about these technical issues when they know parents are counting on this income for essential expenses. Based on everyone's experiences here, I'm planning to try the Claimyr service tomorrow morning since the regular phone lines seem impossible to get through. Has anyone who used Claimyr been able to get confirmation about when the broader batch processing issue might be fully resolved? I'm worried this could affect my future payments too. Thank you all for sharing - this community has been more helpful than anything I could find on the official EDD website!

•@Lucy Lam Welcome! I m'also new here and dealing with this exact issue - it s'such a relief to find this community and realize we re'not alone. My PFL payment has been stuck for 4 days now. From what I ve'read in the comments above, it sounds like the batch processing issue should be resolved within the next few days according to what one person s'EDD agent told them, but there s'no guarantee about future payments. The agent mentioned that once they fix the technical glitch, processing times should go back to normal 1-2 days. I m'also planning to try Claimyr tomorrow - seems like that s'really our best option right now since the regular phone lines are completely useless. Hopefully we can all get some answers soon!
