EDD PFL payment short 2 days - only paid for 5 instead of 7. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my Paid Family Leave payment. The EDD only paid me for 5 days when it should have been for 7 days. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get this resolved quickly? I'm worried about missing out on those two days of pay.

Ugh, classic EDD mess-up. I had a similar issue last year. You need to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho ๐

โขPro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

โขSounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

โขYep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

โขHow long did it take for them to get through?

โขIt took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still beats trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the exact dates you were supposed to be paid for. 2. Check your claim online if possible to see if there's any explanation for the discrepancy. 3. Call EDD and explain the situation calmly. Be polite but firm. 4. If the phone rep can't help, ask to speak with a supervisor. 5. Keep a record of all your calls, including date, time, and who you spoke with. 6. If you can't resolve it over the phone, consider filing an appeal. 7. As a last resort, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off.

have you checked ur claim history on the edd website? sometimes they break up payments weirdly. might be worth double-checking before you spend hours on the phone

I swear the EDD is run by clowns ๐คก How hard is it to count to 7?

โขHey now, don't insult clowns like that. At least they make people laugh ๐

This happened to me last month. Turns out they were counting business days instead of calendar days. Might be worth asking about that specifically when you call.

โขOh that's interesting, I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely bring it up when I talk to them. Thanks!

Quick question - did you file your claim online or by mail? I've heard the online system has been glitchy lately.

โขI filed online. Maybe that's part of the problem? ๐ค

โขCould be. Their website is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot sometimes ๐ซโ

Hot take: the whole system needs an overhaul. We're using 1990s tech to handle 2020s problems. No wonder stuff like this keeps happening.

Anyone else notice that these issues always seem to happen when you need the money most? It's like they have a sixth sense for inconvenience ๐

I went through this exact same thing a few months ago! Turned out there was a "waiting period" that I wasn't aware of that affected my first week. The EDD rep explained that sometimes the first 7 days include a waiting period where you don't get paid for the first day, so you only get 6 days of benefits, but if there were other deductions or issues, it could be even less. Definitely call and ask them to break down exactly what days you're being paid for and why. Also, make sure you have your confirmation numbers from when you certified - that helped me prove what I had claimed. Hope this helps and you get it sorted out soon!

โขThis is super helpful! I had no idea about the waiting period thing. That could totally explain what's happening with my claim. Did you have to do anything special to get them to explain the breakdown, or did they just offer that info once you got through to someone?
