EDD PFL: Submitted additional docs, no payment yet. How long does processing take?

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my paid family leave claim. I submitted additional documents to claim more of my leave, but I haven't received any payment yet. I got a notice from EDD about my claim status after submitting the docs. Anyone else dealing with this? How long does it usually take for them to process these additional documents?

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD is such a pain to deal with. I had a similar situation last year. It took them about 3 weeks to process my additional docs. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can speed things up.

3 weeks?! That's so long 😩 I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through that way.

lol good luck with that. I tried calling for weeks and never got through. The whole system is a joke 🤡

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

20 bucks to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out notices. Also, make sure you didn't miss any emails from them asking for more info.

Ive been in the same boat. heres what worked for me: 1. Keep all your docs organized and ready 2. Check your online account daily 3. If you dont hear back in 2 weeks, start calling 4. Be persistent! Don't give up It took me about a month to get everything sorted out. The key is to stay on top of it and follow up regularly. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try all of this. Fingers crossed it doesn't take a full month 🤞

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you talked to. It helps if you need to escalate later.

anyone else think its crazy we have to jump through so many hoops just to get whats owed to us? the whole system needs an overhaul smh

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose.

For real. I spent more time dealing with EDD than I did actually on leave 🙄

Hey OP, quick question - when exactly did you submit the additional docs? And what type of documents were they? Sometimes certain types take longer to process.

0 coins

I submitted them about 10 days ago. It was mostly medical certification stuff from my doctor. Does that usually take longer?

0 coins

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, medical docs can take a bit longer cuz they often need to be reviewed by their medical team. Hang in there!

Hot take: learn the system and play it smart. I always submit more docs than necessary and follow up aggressively. Haven't had an issue in years. You gotta advocate for yourself in this mess.
