EDD Family Leave online application error - need help ASAP!

I'm trying to apply for family leave to take care of my spouse in the hospital, but I'm having trouble with the online application. It keeps giving me an error and won't let me submit. I've tried multiple times and I'm getting really stressed out. Does anyone have experience with this or know what I should do? I'm worried about missing the deadline and I really need this leave.

I've been there, it's so frustrating! Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Sometimes that helps with weird website issues. Also, make sure you're using a supported browser - I know their system can be picky.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried clearing my cache but still no luck 😞 What browser did you use?

I used Chrome and it worked fine for me. Maybe try Firefox if Chrome isn't working? Or even try on your phone if you have a smartphone.

The online system is a joke. I had to call them directly to get it sorted out. Be prepared to wait on hold forever tho 🙄

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work. Saved me hours of frustration.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than being stuck on hold yourself.

Here's what you need to have ready when you finally get through to an agent: 1. Your personal info (SSN, address, etc.) 2. Your spouse's medical info and documentation 3. Your employment details 4. Dates you need the leave for Having all this ready will make the process go smoother. Good luck!

I feel your pain. The system is designed to be as difficult as possible, I swear. Keep trying and don't give up. Your family is worth it! ❤️

Pro tip: if you can't get the online app to work, you can download the paper forms and mail them in. It's old school but it works. Just make sure you send it certified mail so you have proof of when you submitted it.

That's a good idea, I might have to do that as a last resort. Where can I find the paper forms?

You can download them from the EDD website. Just search for 'Paid Family Leave Forms' and you should find them.

Ugh, dealing with goverment websites is the WORST. Sending good vibes your way, hope you get it figured out soon! 🙏

Have you tried applying during off-peak hours? Like really early in the morning or late at night? Sometimes the system works better when there's less traffic.

I haven't thought of that. I'll give it a try tonight, thanks!

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue and it turned out I was using an outdated form. Double check you're using the most recent version of everything.
