Discovered EDD PFL baby bonding payment on Money Network card without website approval notification

Anyone else having issues seeing their baby bonding PFL approval status on the EDD website? I've been checking the site DAILY for the past 2 weeks waiting to see my claim approval and payment amount. Was getting super anxious since bills are piling up. On a whim, I decided to check my Money Network card balance today (even though the EDD site showed nothing about a payment being issued) and SURPRISE - found over $4,200 deposited! Apparently EDD processed my payment but never updated the online portal to show approval. Just sharing in case others are obsessively refreshing the EDD site like I was. Check your card directly! Now I can finally get my car fixed (check engine light's been on forever) and pay my property taxes without stressing.

omg SAME THING happened with my pfl claim last month!! Website still shows pending but they loaded my card. super frustrating bc I was legit about to call them and wait on hold forever. the edd site is so glitchy

Glad I'm not the only one! Did your online account ever update or is it still showing pending? I'm wondering if I should still try to call them.

This is actually a common issue with the PFL system right now. There's a disconnect between the claim processing department and the online portal updates. When they approve your baby bonding claim, the payment goes to disbursement right away, but the status update can lag by 2-3 weeks in some cases. Always check your Money Network account if you're approaching the timeframe when payment should arrive. If you filed your claim within 41 days of your baby's birth or placement, payments are typically processed within 14 business days. The lag seems to be worse for claims that required additional documentation or identity verification steps.

would this apply to transitioning from disability to pfl to? im on disability now but will be switching to baby bonding next month and im scared im gonna miss something important because of thier website issues

Pro tip: The EDD notification system is notoriously unreliable for PFL claims. I worked as an HR benefits coordinator, and we always advised employees to: 1. Check your payment card directly every few days once your claim has been pending for 7+ business days 2. Keep track of your claim filing date and expected timeline (typically 14 business days for clean applications) 3. Don't wait for email/text notifications or website updates before checking your card The transition from Pregnancy Disability Leave to Baby Bonding PFL is especially prone to these notification glitches. Many of our employees would panic thinking their baby bonding claim wasn't approved, but the money was already on their card.

Thank you for this insider perspective! This helps a lot. I was so focused on the website status that I nearly missed the actual payment. I'll remember this for my next certification period.

The EDD website is absolute GARBAGE!!! I had the EXACT same issue last year and ended up panicking and filing a second claim because I thought the first one got lost. Then suddenly had two payments hit my card and had to deal with explaining I wasn't trying to commit fraud. Their system is a JOKE. They should at least send a text when money gets deposited instead of making us guess!!! How hard is it to set up automation in 2025?!?!? 🤬🤬🤬

If anyone is still having trouble checking their PFL claim status or can't get through on the phone, I recently discovered a service called Claimyr that actually works! I was in the same situation - couldn't see my baby bonding payment status online and couldn't get through to EDD after trying for 3 days straight. Claimyr connected me with an EDD agent in about 25 minutes instead of the 3+ hours I was experiencing before. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 The agent was able to tell me my payment had already been processed even though the website wasn't updated. Saved me so much anxiety! Their website is claimyr.com if anyone needs it.

is this legit? seems sketchy to pay someone just to call edd for you

It's not that they call for you - they basically hold your place in line and then connect you directly with an EDD rep. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying to get through for 3 days. It worked for me but obviously do what you're comfortable with!

congrats on getting ur payment!! my baby is due in 3 weeks and im so nervous about all this edd stuff. did u have to wait a long time after applying? did u do the paper form or online application?

0 coins

I did the online application and submitted it exactly 2 weeks after my baby was born (took me that long to get organized lol). Then it was about 2.5 weeks before the money appeared on my card. So about 4.5 weeks total from birth to payment. Congrats on your upcoming baby! Just make sure you have your doctor fill out their portion completely - that's usually what causes delays.

Since some people are asking about the transition from Pregnancy Disability to Baby Bonding PFL, here's what you need to know: 1. Your Pregnancy Disability claim (SDI) and Baby Bonding (PFL) are two separate claims 2. You need to file your PFL claim AFTER your SDI claim ends, but don't wait more than 41 days after birth 3. Use form DE2501F for disability and DE2508 for PFL 4. The online portal often shows claim status incorrectly during transitions 5. Money Network deposits can happen even when the portal shows "pending" When transitioning, if the website shows no updates after 10 business days from submission, call EDD directly at 833-978-2511 to verify your status rather than assuming there's a problem.

The Money Network card is automatically mailed to you after your first claim is approved, typically within 7-10 business days. If your claim shows completed but you haven't received a card after two weeks, call EDD at 833-978-2511 to check if it was mailed. They may need to issue a replacement. You can also call Money Network directly at 1-866-898-2213 to check if a card was issued and possibly expedite a replacement.
