Accidentally submitted PFL instead of CASDI claim to EDD - How to fix?
Hey everyone, I messed up and submitted my PFL claim too early. I only meant to submit the CASDI claim. Has anyone else done this before? What should I do to fix it?

Ugh, I feel ya. I did something similar last year. You need to contact EDD asap and explain the situation. They can help you cancel the PFL claim.

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when an agent picks up. It costs $20 but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•It's legit! You pay, give them your number, and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of hold time

Here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic! This happens more often than you'd think. 2. Call EDD immediately. Explain the situation clearly. 3. Ask them to cancel the PFL claim. They should be able to do this on their end. 4. Make sure your CASDI claim is still active and correct. 5. Keep all documentation of your calls and any correspondence. 6. If you have trouble reaching them by phone, try sending a message through your online account. 7. As a last resort, you can also try contacting your local assembly member's office. They sometimes have direct lines to EDD. Remember, the sooner you address this, the easier it'll be to fix. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure to note down the name of any EDD rep you talk to, just in case.

Have you tried submitting a request through your online account? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

Oof, been there done that. It's a pain but fixable. Just be prepared for a lot of waiting and explaining. The EDD folks I talked to were actually pretty understanding once I got through.

•Same experience here. They deal with this stuff all the time, so don't stress too much

Hey @Caden Turner, I actually had this exact same issue a few months back! Super stressful but totally fixable. What worked for me was calling the EDD customer service line first thing in the morning (like 8 AM sharp) and explaining that I accidentally submitted the wrong claim type. The rep was able to cancel my PFL claim and help me make sure my CASDI was processed correctly. It took about 2 weeks to get everything sorted out, but no major issues. Just make sure you have all your documentation ready when you call - they'll ask for your claim number and details about why you need the change. You got this! 💪
