Wrong employer showing on my SDI pregnancy claim - will EDD fix automatically?

I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and just submitted my SDI claim last week. Got a message saying they received my doctor's certification and to wait two weeks for processing (yay!). But when I checked my claim details online, I noticed something weird - they listed my previous seasonal job that I only worked at for 3 months last year as my employer, NOT my current company where I've been employed full-time for almost 4 years! I'm 100% certain I only listed my current employer on my application. Will EDD automatically correct this employer mix-up during processing, or should I call them ASAP? I'm worried this could delay my benefits or affect my benefit amount since my current job pays significantly more. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

omg this happened to me too!! they had me listed at a place i worked at like 8 months before i filed. i panicked and tried calling for 3 days straight with no luck. but then my claim got approved with the right amount anyway so i guess they figured it out on there end?

That's somewhat reassuring! Did your benefit amount end up being based on your current wages? That's what I'm most worried about - I don't want them calculating my benefits based on that seasonal job where I made way less.

EDD's system pulls employer information from their wage database. Sometimes it displays the most recent "completed quarter" employer rather than your current one. This is just a display issue on your SDI Online account - your claim will almost certainly be processed using your correct wage history including your current employer. If your claim gets approved and the benefit amount seems correct (about 60-70% of your current wages), then everything processed correctly. If the amount seems way off based on your seasonal job earnings, THEN you should definitely call to have it corrected.

Thank you so much for explaining that! I had no idea it was pulling from completed quarters. My current job definitely pays more than double what that seasonal position did, so I'll check the benefit amount carefully when it comes through.

This advice isn't quite right. If you look at the EDD SDI benefit calculator, they use your highest quarter of earnings in the base period (usually 5-18 months before your claim). They don't just use whatever employer shows up in your account view. The computer system correctly calculates benefits based on all reported wages in your base period even if the display shows the wrong employer. Only call if your benefit amount is clearly wrong when you receive your approval notice.

I've been trying to call EDD for weeks about a similar issue (they had my employer wrong too) and it's IMPOSSIBLE to get through!! I tried for hours every day for a week straight. Kept getting hung up on due to "high call volume" or waiting on hold forever until the call disconnected. I was about to give up when someone on this forum recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes! They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd When I finally talked to the rep, they explained that my case was already correct in their system even though the online portal showed the wrong employer. Turns out it was just a display issue like someone else mentioned. But it was such a relief to actually talk to someone and confirm everything was fine!

is this some kind of ad or something? sounds sketchy

No, it's a legitimate service - I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying for so long. They basically just connect you through to EDD rather than you having to keep calling and getting hung up on. Totally worth it for the peace of mind in my situation.

This exact thing is currently happening to me!! I'm also on pregnancy disability (33 weeks) and noticed they have me listed under a job I left TWO YEARS ago! So frustrating because now I'm panicking about my benefit amount. Has yours been resolved yet? Did you end up calling or just waiting it out?

I decided to wait after reading the helpful comments here. My claim was just approved yesterday (took exactly 12 days) and they calculated my benefits based on my current higher wage, even though they still show my old employer in the system! So it really was just a display issue.

The EDD systems are so confusing sometimes! When i filed my disability claim last year they had THREE different employers listed that i had worked for over the past 2 years. i was like... which one are you even using?? but my claim went through fine and my payment was based on my highest quarter anyway. just keep an eye on the benefit amount when it comes through

For anyone dealing with this issue: 1. EDD SDI uses a "base period" for calculating your benefits - this is divided into quarters and usually doesn't include your most recent completed quarter. 2. What appears on your claim display isn't necessarily what they're using for calculations. 3. When your claim is processed, you'll receive a notice of computation that shows the specific quarters and earnings used to calculate your benefit amount. 4. Only if this amount seems incorrect (based on your actual earnings history) should you contact EDD for correction. 5. For pregnancy claims specifically, your doctor's certification date, last day worked, and expected delivery date are more important for processing than which specific employer is displayed in your online account.

This is incredibly helpful information, thank you! My notice of computation just came today and the amount does match my current salary, so everything processed correctly despite the display issue. Such a relief!

I'm dealing with something similar right now! I'm 28 weeks pregnant and just noticed they have me listed under a retail job I worked at briefly 6 months ago instead of my current office job. Reading through all these responses is so reassuring - sounds like this display issue is pretty common but doesn't actually affect the benefit calculation. I was about to stress-call EDD but I think I'll just wait for my approval notice and check that the benefit amount looks right based on my current wages. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

Smart decision to wait it out! I went through the exact same panic when I saw the wrong employer listed. Like everyone's saying, it really does seem to be just a display glitch. The system actually pulls from all your wage quarters automatically when calculating benefits. I'd definitely recommend checking your paystubs from your current job so you know roughly what 60-70% of your wages should be - that way when your notice comes you'll know right away if something's off. Good luck with everything and congrats on the pregnancy!

I went through this exact same thing with my pregnancy claim earlier this year! They had me listed under a part-time job I worked at 10 months prior instead of my full-time position. I was so worried about it affecting my benefits that I spent hours trying to get through to EDD on the phone. Finally got connected after using one of those callback services and the rep told me it's super common - apparently their system sometimes displays the most recently "closed" employment record rather than your current one. She assured me that behind the scenes, they're pulling wage data from ALL your qualifying quarters to calculate benefits, not just whatever employer shows up on the screen. My claim ended up being approved with the correct benefit amount based on my current higher wages, even though that old employer name never changed in my online account. So definitely don't panic! Just wait for your notice of computation and verify the dollar amount matches what you'd expect from your current salary.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm new to all this disability claim stuff and was getting really anxious about the employer mix-up. It's so helpful to know that other people have gone through the same thing and it worked out fine. I feel much better about just waiting for the notice now instead of stressing myself out trying to get through to EDD. Thank you for sharing your experience - it really puts my mind at ease knowing the system pulls from all the right wage quarters automatically even when the display is wrong.

I'm going through this exact situation right now! I'm 31 weeks pregnant and just filed my SDI claim last week. When I checked my account online, they have me listed under a temporary admin job I worked at for like 2 months over a year ago instead of my current marketing position where I've been for 3 years. I was freaking out because the pay difference is huge - my temp job was barely above minimum wage while my current role pays almost triple that! But after reading all these responses, I feel SO much better. It sounds like this employer display issue is super common but doesn't actually impact the benefit calculation. I'm going to follow everyone's advice and just wait for my notice of computation rather than trying to call EDD. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - this community is such a lifesaver for navigating all this confusing stuff! Will definitely update once I get my approval notice.

I'm so glad this thread exists too! I'm just starting to navigate the pregnancy disability process (currently 24 weeks) and was already worried about all the potential complications. Reading everyone's experiences with the employer display issue is really reassuring - it sounds like EDD's system is actually more reliable behind the scenes than it appears on the surface. The fact that multiple people here had the same display problem but still got benefits calculated correctly based on their higher current wages gives me confidence that the system works even when it looks confusing. Definitely bookmarking this thread for future reference as I get closer to filing my own claim. Thanks for sharing your situation and please do update us when you get your notice - it'll help other expectant moms who run into the same thing!

I'm currently dealing with this same issue! I'm 29 weeks pregnant and just submitted my SDI claim a few days ago. When I logged in to check the status, I was shocked to see they had me listed under a coffee shop job I worked at for just 6 weeks last summer instead of my current full-time nursing position that I've held for over 2 years. The wage difference is massive - I was making $15/hour at the coffee shop versus my current $42/hour as an RN. I was about to have a complete meltdown thinking my benefits would be calculated on those low coffee shop wages! But reading through all these responses has been incredibly helpful and reassuring. It sounds like this employer display glitch is way more common than I realized, and multiple people here have confirmed that their benefits were still calculated correctly based on their higher current wages despite the wrong employer showing up. I'm going to take everyone's advice and wait for my notice of computation instead of trying to battle through EDD's phone system. This community has been such a blessing - thank you all for sharing your experiences and helping ease my anxiety about this!

Oh wow, as a fellow healthcare worker I totally understand your panic about the wage difference! $15/hour vs $42/hour is such a huge gap that I would have been freaking out too. But it sounds like you're in good hands based on everyone's experiences here. The fact that so many people had the same display issue but still got benefits based on their actual higher wages is really encouraging. As an RN you probably know how important it is to have accurate disability benefits during pregnancy leave, so I'm sure you'll be relieved once that notice comes through with the right calculation. Fingers crossed your processing goes smoothly - keep us posted on how it turns out!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! I'm 34 weeks pregnant and just filed my claim yesterday. They have me listed under a part-time retail job I worked at briefly 8 months ago instead of my current full-time position as a teacher where I've been for 5 years. The pay difference is significant - about $12/hour at the retail job versus my current salary. I was so worried about this affecting my benefit amount, but after reading everyone's experiences here I feel much more confident about just waiting it out. It's amazing how common this display issue seems to be! I really appreciate everyone sharing their stories - it's such a relief to know that the system actually calculates benefits correctly behind the scenes even when the employer information looks wrong on the screen. I'll definitely wait for my notice of computation and check that the benefit amount matches my teacher salary rather than those low retail wages. Thanks for starting this thread - it's been incredibly helpful for all of us dealing with the same concern!

I'm so glad you found this thread helpful too! As someone who just went through this same scary situation, I can definitely relate to that initial panic when you see the wrong employer listed. The wage difference between retail and teaching is huge, so I completely understand your worry about the benefit calculation. It's been really eye-opening to see how many of us have dealt with this exact same display glitch - it makes me wonder why EDD's system shows employer info this way if it's not actually what they use for calculations! Your teaching position sounds like it has much more stable wages too, so you should be in good shape once your notice comes through. Thanks for adding your experience to help other expecting moms who might run into this - the more stories we have here, the more reassuring it is for everyone dealing with the same confusion!

I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and just ran into this exact same issue! Filed my SDI claim three days ago and when I checked online today, they have me listed under a seasonal warehouse job I worked at for only 2 months last spring instead of my current position as a dental hygienist where I've been for almost 3 years. The pay difference is enormous - I was making about $16/hour at the warehouse versus my current $38/hour. I was literally about to call in sick to work tomorrow just to spend the day trying to get through to EDD! But reading through all of these experiences has been such a huge relief. It's incredible how many people have dealt with this same display error, and even more reassuring that everyone's benefits ended up being calculated correctly based on their actual higher wages. I'm definitely going to follow the advice here and wait for my notice of computation instead of stressing myself out trying to reach EDD. Thank you so much to everyone who shared their stories - this thread is going to save so many expecting moms from unnecessary panic! I'll make sure to update once I receive my approval notice.

I'm so glad you found this thread before calling in sick to deal with EDD! That would have been such an unnecessary stress on top of everything else you're managing at 26 weeks pregnant. The wage difference between warehouse work and dental hygiene is definitely significant enough to cause major anxiety about the benefit calculation. It's really reassuring to see how consistent everyone's experiences have been - the display shows the wrong employer but the benefits get calculated correctly based on actual wage history. Your dental hygienist salary should put you in a much better position for disability benefits than those warehouse wages! Definitely smart to wait for the notice rather than spending a whole day battling EDD's phone system. Please do update us when you get your results - it'll help add to the growing evidence that this display issue is harmless and will give peace of mind to other moms who encounter the same problem!

This is happening to me too! I'm 30 weeks pregnant and just filed my claim last week. They have me listed under a seasonal retail job I worked for 4 months last year instead of my current accounting position where I've been for 6 years. The wage difference is huge - $14/hour retail vs my current $35/hour salary. I was about to spend my entire weekend trying to call EDD, but after reading all these responses I'm feeling so much more at ease! It's amazing how common this display issue is, yet everyone seems to get their benefits calculated correctly based on their actual higher wages. I'm definitely going to wait for my notice of computation like everyone suggests rather than stress myself out with EDD's impossible phone system. Thank you all for sharing your experiences - this thread is such a lifesaver for pregnant moms navigating this confusing process! I'll update when I get my approval notice to add to the growing list of success stories here.

I'm so relieved to find this thread! I'm 32 weeks pregnant and just noticed the exact same thing on my claim - they have me listed under a part-time bookkeeping job I did for 3 months last year instead of my current full-time position as a financial analyst. The pay difference is really significant ($18/hour vs $45/hour), so I was panicking about my benefit amount. Reading everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring - it sounds like this employer display glitch is super common but doesn't actually affect the calculations. I was literally about to take time off work to call EDD all day, but now I'm going to follow the advice here and just wait for my notice of computation. Thank you so much for sharing your story and adding to this helpful collection of experiences! It's such a relief to know I'm not alone in dealing with this confusing display issue.

I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and just discovered this same issue with my SDI claim! They have me listed under a part-time receptionist job I worked at for just 2 months last fall instead of my current position as a project manager where I've been for over 4 years. The wage difference is substantial - $17/hour at the receptionist job versus my current $41/hour salary. I was literally having a panic attack thinking my benefits would be based on those low receptionist wages! But finding this thread has been such a blessing - reading everyone's similar experiences and seeing that their benefits were calculated correctly despite the wrong employer display has given me so much peace of mind. It's wild how common this display glitch seems to be, yet EDD's system apparently works correctly behind the scenes. I'm definitely going to take everyone's advice and wait for my notice of computation rather than trying to navigate EDD's notorious phone system while this pregnant and stressed. Thank you all for sharing your stories - this community support is invaluable during such a confusing time! I'll make sure to update once I receive my approval notice to add another success story to this helpful thread.

I completely understand that panic! I'm only 22 weeks pregnant but already dreading having to deal with any EDD complications when I file my claim in a few months. The wage difference you mentioned ($17 vs $41/hour) would definitely send me into a tailspin too! But wow, reading through this entire thread has been so educational - it seems like this employer display issue is almost like a known bug in their system that looks scary but doesn't actually impact the benefit calculations. It's really reassuring to see so many people from different industries (healthcare, education, finance, etc.) all experiencing the same thing but getting their benefits calculated correctly based on their actual current wages. I'm definitely bookmarking this thread for when I file my own claim. Thank you for sharing your experience and please do update us with your results - it'll help build an even stronger case that this display glitch is harmless!
