SDI 'qualification' status showing instead of auto-payment - payment delayed?

I'm confused about a new status in my EDD SDI account. I completed my continuing eligibility questionnaire last weekend and my doctor sent in her updated medical certification the same day. Usually my payment hits my MoneyNetwork account every Friday like clockwork, but nothing showed up yesterday. When I checked my claim history today, I noticed something different - all my previous payments were listed as "auto-payment" but now there's an entry with the same amount listed as a "qualification" dated today. My MoneyNetwork account still shows no deposit pending. Does anyone know what this "qualification" status means? Is this normal or is there a problem? Will my payment still be processed and released tomorrow? I've got bills due next week and I'm starting to worry. Called EDD multiple times today but couldn't get through to anyone.

qualification means they're reviewing ur claim again. happens to me like every 3 months. usually takes them 2-3 extra days to process. ur probably fine but good luck getting thru to ask them lol

Thanks for the quick reply! That's somewhat reassuring. Did your payment eventually come through automatically or did you have to call them to get it released?

The "qualification" status typically means your claim is going through a routine review period. This normally happens after submitting continuing eligibility forms. It's actually a good sign - it means they've received your forms and your doctor's certification, and they're processing them to ensure continued eligibility. In most cases, the payment will process within 2-3 business days after the qualification status appears. Since you mentioned it showed up today, there's a good chance your payment will post by Monday or Tuesday. Be aware that if this is around the 12-week mark of your claim, they often do a more thorough review, which can sometimes take a few days longer.

This IS around my 12-week mark! That explains why they're doing a more thorough review. I've been on disability since January 12th. Really hope it does come through by Tuesday since my rent is due Wednesday. Thank you for the detailed explanation!

10 DAYS?? Oh no, I really hope mine doesn't take that long. Did you try calling them during that wait?

I've been on SDI three times over the past few years, and I've noticed the "qualification" status shows up whenever there's a change to your claim or after you submit updated forms. It doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem - just that a human needs to review something before approving the next payment. In my experience, if everything is in order with your paperwork, the payment usually processes within 3-5 business days after the qualification status appears. However, if there are any issues or missing information, it could take longer. If you're concerned, I'd suggest trying to reach EDD through the SDI Online message center. Sometimes they respond faster there than by phone.

I'll try the message center right away. Thanks for the tip! I double-checked and all my paperwork seems complete, so hopefully it's just the routine review you mentioned.

Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an EDD agent? I was in the same situation last month - payment delayed, couldn't get through on the phone for days. A friend recommended this service (claimyr.com) that gets you connected to an EDD representative quickly instead of dealing with the endless busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd I was skeptical but tried it and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. The rep explained exactly what was going on with my payment delay and actually fixed it while I was on the phone. Definitely worth it when you're worried about bills coming due.

I've never heard of this service before. I'm desperate to talk to someone at this point so I'll check out the video. Thanks for sharing!

Is that service legit? Sounds kinda sketchy to me. Why would u need to pay to call EDD when u can just call them urself??

It's legitimate - they basically call EDD for you using a system that gets through the busy signals. Sure, you CAN call yourself, but how many times have you actually gotten through? I spent 3 days trying before using this service.

"Qualification" status means manual review is happening. This is completely normal after 12 weeks on disability claim. EDD regulations require full review of all continuing disability claims at 12-week intervals to verify medical necessity is still present. The delay is typically 3-5 business days from qualification status appearing to payment processing. Here's my advice: 1. DO NOT submit multiple messages - this will put you at back of queue 2. If payment doesn't appear by Wednesday, then call precisely at 8:00 AM when phones open 3. Make sure your doctor didn't enter any new information that might trigger additional review 4. Check that your continuing eligibility answers match your original claim I process disability paperwork for a living. This is standard procedure, not something to panic about yet.

Thank you for such detailed information! You've put my mind at ease a bit. I'll wait until Wednesday before trying to call. My doctor did mention slightly reducing my work restrictions, maybe that's what triggered the extra review? I'll be more patient now that I understand the process better.

My sister works for EDD (not disability specifically) but she says all these computer systems are from like the stone age and sometimes they just glitch out and show weird statuses. Could just be a system error and your payment is actually processing normally.

OMG so true!!! their website looks like it was made in 1995 lol

That's actually a good point. Their systems do seem really outdated. I'll check again tomorrow and see if anything changes.

UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know that my payment finally posted this morning (Monday). So it took exactly 3 business days from when the "qualification" status appeared. Everything seems to be back to normal now. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!
