SDI 'qualification' status showing instead of auto-payment - payment delayed?
I'm confused about a new status in my EDD SDI account. I completed my continuing eligibility questionnaire last weekend and my doctor sent in her updated medical certification the same day. Usually my payment hits my MoneyNetwork account every Friday like clockwork, but nothing showed up yesterday. When I checked my claim history today, I noticed something different - all my previous payments were listed as "auto-payment" but now there's an entry with the same amount listed as a "qualification" dated today. My MoneyNetwork account still shows no deposit pending. Does anyone know what this "qualification" status means? Is this normal or is there a problem? Will my payment still be processed and released tomorrow? I've got bills due next week and I'm starting to worry. Called EDD multiple times today but couldn't get through to anyone.

qualification means they're reviewing ur claim again. happens to me like every 3 months. usually takes them 2-3 extra days to process. ur probably fine but good luck getting thru to ask them lol

•Thanks for the quick reply! That's somewhat reassuring. Did your payment eventually come through automatically or did you have to call them to get it released?

The "qualification" status typically means your claim is going through a routine review period. This normally happens after submitting continuing eligibility forms. It's actually a good sign - it means they've received your forms and your doctor's certification, and they're processing them to ensure continued eligibility. In most cases, the payment will process within 2-3 business days after the qualification status appears. Since you mentioned it showed up today, there's a good chance your payment will post by Monday or Tuesday. Be aware that if this is around the 12-week mark of your claim, they often do a more thorough review, which can sometimes take a few days longer.

•This IS around my 12-week mark! That explains why they're doing a more thorough review. I've been on disability since January 12th. Really hope it does come through by Tuesday since my rent is due Wednesday. Thank you for the detailed explanation!

I've been on SDI three times over the past few years, and I've noticed the "qualification" status shows up whenever there's a change to your claim or after you submit updated forms. It doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem - just that a human needs to review something before approving the next payment. In my experience, if everything is in order with your paperwork, the payment usually processes within 3-5 business days after the qualification status appears. However, if there are any issues or missing information, it could take longer. If you're concerned, I'd suggest trying to reach EDD through the SDI Online message center. Sometimes they respond faster there than by phone.

•I'll try the message center right away. Thanks for the tip! I double-checked and all my paperwork seems complete, so hopefully it's just the routine review you mentioned.

Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an EDD agent? I was in the same situation last month - payment delayed, couldn't get through on the phone for days. A friend recommended this service (claimyr.com) that gets you connected to an EDD representative quickly instead of dealing with the endless busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd I was skeptical but tried it and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. The rep explained exactly what was going on with my payment delay and actually fixed it while I was on the phone. Definitely worth it when you're worried about bills coming due.

•Is that service legit? Sounds kinda sketchy to me. Why would u need to pay to call EDD when u can just call them urself??

•It's legitimate - they basically call EDD for you using a system that gets through the busy signals. Sure, you CAN call yourself, but how many times have you actually gotten through? I spent 3 days trying before using this service.

" Qualification status means manual review is happening. This is completely normal after 12 weeks on disability claim. EDD regulations require full review of all continuing disability claims at 12-week intervals to verify medical necessity is still present. The delay is typically 3-5 business days from qualification status appearing to payment processing.'Here s my advice: 1. DO NOT submit multiple messages - this will put you at back of queue 2. If payment'doesn t appear by Wednesday, then call precisely at 8:00 AM when phones open 3. Make sure your doctor'didn t enter any new information that might trigger additional review 4. Check that your continuing eligibility answers match your original claim I process disability paperwork for a living. This is standard procedure, not something to panic aboutyet.

•Thank you for such detailed information! You've put my mind at ease a bit. I'll wait until Wednesday before trying to call. My doctor did mention slightly reducing my work restrictions, maybe that's what triggered the extra review? I'll be more patient now that I understand the process better.

My sister works for EDD (not disability specifically) but she says all these computer systems are from like the stone age and sometimes they just glitch out and show weird statuses. Could just be a system error and your payment is actually processing normally.

UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know that my payment finally posted this morning (Monday). So it took exactly 3 business days from when the "qualification" status appeared. Everything seems to be back to normal now. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

I'm new to this community but had to jump in because I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My "qualification" status just appeared yesterday after my 12-week review, and like you, I'm panicking about my bills. Reading through all these responses has been super helpful - especially knowing that 3-5 business days seems to be the norm. It's frustrating how EDD's system creates so much anxiety when this is apparently just routine processing. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, and @Mikayla Brown I hope your payment comes through soon!

•Welcome to the community! I'm glad my post and everyone's responses could help ease your anxiety about this situation. It's such a relief to know we're not alone in dealing with these scary-looking status changes. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, but based on what everyone shared, it sounds like we just need to be patient. My payment actually came through this morning (Monday) - exactly 3 business days after the qualification status appeared, just like @Ali Anderson and @Katherine Hunter predicted. Hang in there, and I hope yours processes just as smoothly!

I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now too! My qualification status appeared on Friday after submitting my continuing eligibility forms, and I've been refreshing my account obsessively since then. It's so stressful when you're depending on that money for basic expenses. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring - especially knowing that the 3-5 business day timeline seems pretty consistent. @Mikayla Brown I'm so glad your payment came through this morning! That gives me hope that mine will process by Wednesday or Thursday. This community is such a lifesaver for navigating EDD's confusing system.

•Welcome to the community! I'm going through the same thing right now - my qualification status just showed up yesterday and I've been worried sick about it. It's such a relief to find this thread and realize this is actually normal! I had no idea about the 12-week review process. The waiting is torture when you have bills due, but everyone's experiences here give me hope that it'll work out. Fingers crossed both of our payments come through this week! @Beth Ford thanks for sharing, it helps to know we re'all in this together.

Hey everyone! I just joined this community because I'm going through this exact same situation right now. My "qualification" status appeared yesterday morning and I've been freaking out about it ever since. Like many of you, this is right around my 12-week mark (I started my claim in early January), and I had no idea this review was even a thing! Reading through all your experiences has been such a huge relief - I was convinced something had gone wrong with my claim. The fact that this seems to be completely normal routine processing makes me feel so much better. I especially appreciate @Katherine Hunter's detailed explanation about the 12-week review requirements and @A Man D Mortal sharing that their payment came through in exactly 3 days. I'm definitely going to try the message center suggestion if my payment doesn't show up by Thursday. It's so frustrating how EDD doesn't explain these processes clearly - a simple notification that says "routine review in progress" would save us all so much stress! Thanks for creating such a supportive space where we can help each other navigate this confusing system.

•Welcome to the community @Alice Pierce! Your situation sounds exactly like what I went through a few months ago - that same panic when you see "qualification" instead of the usual "auto-payment" status. It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't give us any heads up about these routine reviews! I had no idea it was normal until I found this community too. Based on everyone's experiences here, you should see your payment by Thursday or Friday at the latest. The 12-week review thing seems to be standard procedure, even though they make it feel like something's wrong. Hang in there - we've all been through this stress and it does work out!

I'm new here but had to share my experience since I just went through this exact same thing last week! My "qualification" status appeared on a Tuesday and I was absolutely panicking because I'd never seen it before. Like many of you, this was right around my 12-week mark and I had no clue about the routine review process. I tried calling EDD dozens of times but couldn't get through, so I ended up sending a message through the SDI Online portal like @A Man D Mortal suggested. They actually responded within 24 hours (which shocked me!) and confirmed it was just the standard 12-week review. My payment processed exactly 4 business days after the qualification status appeared. What really helped me was keeping a screenshot of the qualification entry so I could track exactly when it started. The waiting is absolutely nerve-wracking when you have bills due, but based on my experience and everyone else's here, it really does seem to resolve within that 3-5 day window. Hang in there everyone - this community has been such a lifesaver for understanding EDD's confusing processes!

•Welcome to the community @Nathaniel Mikhaylov! Thanks for sharing your experience - it's so helpful to hear that the SDI Online message portal actually worked for you and they responded quickly. I'm definitely going to try that approach if I run into this situation again. It's amazing how much stress we could all avoid if EDD just sent a simple notification explaining that routine reviews happen at 12 weeks! Your tip about taking screenshots to track timing is really smart too. This community has been incredible for helping us understand what's actually normal versus what feels like a crisis with EDD's confusing system.

My qualification status just appeared this morning after submitting my 12-week continuing eligibility forms yesterday, and I've been refreshing my account every hour since then. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a huge relief - I had no idea this was routine! Like @Mikayla Brown, I was convinced something had gone wrong with my claim. The fact that so many of you have gone through this and had payments process within 3-5 days gives me so much hope. @Katherine Hunter thank you for that detailed explanation about the 12-week review requirements - that makes perfect sense now! And @A Man D Mortal I'm definitely going to try the message center approach if my payment doesn't show up by Thursday. It's honestly ridiculous that EDD doesn't explain any of this upfront. A simple "Your claim is under routine review, expect 3-5 business days for processing" would save us all from this panic! This community is amazing for helping us navigate their confusing system. Fingers crossed my payment comes through as smoothly as everyone else's!

It's so reassuring to find others who understand how stressful this is! The 12-week review thing seems to catch everyone off guard - I wish EDD would just put a simple explanation on their website about it. Based on all the experiences shared here, it sounds like you should see your payment by early next week. The waiting is the worst part, but this community has been incredible for getting through it. Welcome to everyone who's just joined! I'm relatively new here too and found this thread incredibly helpful when I was dealing with my own qualification status panic a few weeks ago. It's amazing how many of us are going through the exact same experience with the 12-week review process! I wanted to share one additional tip that worked for me - if you're really anxious about the timing, try checking your account early in the morning (around 6-7 AM). I noticed that's when EDD seems to update payment statuses most often. My payment actually showed up at 6:23 AM on the 4th business day after my qualification status appeared. Also, for anyone still waiting - try to resist the urge to refresh constantly (I know, easier said than done!). I found it just made my anxiety worse. The payment will show up when it shows up, and based on everyone's experiences here, it really does seem to follow that 3-5 day pattern pretty reliably. This community has been such a lifesaver for understanding EDD's confusing processes. It's ridiculous that we have to figure this stuff out ourselves instead of getting clear communication from them!

•Welcome to the community @Ethan Moore! Your tip about checking early morning is really helpful - I never thought about when EDD actually updates their systems. I'm new here too and just went through my first qualification status scare last week. It's incredible how this thread has become like a support group for all of us dealing with EDD's confusing processes! The 4th business day timing you mentioned matches what several others have shared, which is reassuring. I totally agree about resisting the constant refreshing - I was checking every 30 minutes and it was driving me crazy. Thanks for sharing your experience and the practical advice!

I'm new to this community and just wanted to say thank you to everyone who shared their experiences here! I've been on SDI for about 8 weeks now and had no idea about the 12-week review process. Reading through all these stories has been so educational - I feel much more prepared for when my turn comes around in a few weeks. It's really frustrating that EDD doesn't provide clear information about these routine procedures. The fact that so many people panic when they see "qualification" status shows there's a serious communication problem on their end. @Katherine Hunter your explanation about the 12-week review requirements was especially helpful - it's clear you really know the system! @Ethan Moore thanks for the tip about checking early morning for updates. And @Nathaniel Mikhaylov good to know the message center actually works sometimes - I'll definitely try that approach if I run into issues. This thread should honestly be pinned or something because it answers so many questions that EDD should be explaining themselves. Grateful to have found this supportive community before I hit my own 12-week mark!

You're so smart to read through everyone's experiences before you hit your 12-week mark - I wish I had known about this community earlier! The information sharing here is incredible and definitely fills the gap that EDD leaves with their terrible communication. @Katherine Hunter really does seem to know the ins and outs of the system, and all the practical tips people have shared like (the early morning checking and message center approach have) been lifesavers. This thread really should be pinned - it would save so many people from unnecessary stress!

I'm brand new to this community and this thread has been an absolute lifesaver! I'm currently at week 10 of my SDI claim, so reading everyone's experiences with the 12-week qualification review has been incredibly helpful in preparing me for what's coming. It's honestly shocking how many people go through this same panic when the "qualification" status appears. The fact that this seems to be completely routine yet EDD provides zero explanation is just mind-blowing. @Katherine Hunter your breakdown of the review process was so informative - it's clear the system is designed this way for legitimate reasons, but the communication is terrible. I'm bookmarking this thread for when my turn comes in a couple weeks. The tips about checking early morning, using the message center, and keeping screenshots for tracking are all things I'll definitely use. Most importantly, knowing that 3-5 business days seems to be the standard timeline will hopefully help me avoid the panic that everyone else went through. Thanks to @Mikayla Brown for starting this discussion and to everyone who shared their experiences. This community is doing EDD's job better than EDD does!

I'm new to this community and just stumbled across this incredibly helpful thread! I'm currently at week 9 of my SDI claim, so reading everyone's experiences with the 12-week qualification review has been eye-opening. I had absolutely no idea this was even a thing that happened! It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't communicate any of this upfront. Like so many others have said, a simple explanation that routine reviews happen at 12 weeks would save everyone from this unnecessary panic. @Katherine Hunter your detailed breakdown of why these reviews are required was incredibly informative - it makes sense from a regulatory standpoint, but the lack of transparency is just awful. I'm definitely saving this thread for reference when my time comes in a few weeks. The practical tips everyone shared - checking early morning, using the message center, keeping screenshots for timing, and most importantly knowing that 3-5 business days is the normal timeframe - are all invaluable. @Mikayla Brown thank you for starting this discussion, and to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and help others through this stressful process. It's really eye-opening to see how many people go through this exact same stress every 12 weeks, and how EDD provides literally zero explanation about it. @Katherine Hunter your detailed explanation about the regulatory requirements makes perfect sense, but like everyone else has said, EDD's communication is just terrible. I'm definitely bookmarking this thread and will be prepared when my turn comes around in about 11 weeks. The practical advice about checking early morning, using the message center, and knowing that 3-5 business days is normal processing time is invaluable.
