SDI payment 2 months late, 2 hour hold times. How to actually get paid?
I've been waiting for my disability payment for almost 2 months now. I called the office and was on hold for nearly 2 hours! This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to survive when we can't even get through to talk to someone? Has anyone else had this problem or found a way to actually get paid?

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been dealing with this nonsense for 3 months now. It's like they want us to give up and just disappear 🙄

•3 months? Amateur hour over here. Try 6 months and counting 😭

•Jeez, 6 months? How are you even surviving? This system is so broken

•Barely. Living off credit cards and the kindness of family. It's a nightmare.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried that. Still ended up on hold forever. It's like they have one person answering phones for the whole state 🤦♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•$20? That's a scam, right? Why should we have to pay to talk to our own government?

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They use some kind of AI to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you. Saved me hours of frustration.

•Can confirm, I used it too. Worth every penny when you're desperate to get through.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with the disability office for way too long: 1. Persistence is key. Call every day if you have to. 2. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 3. Have all your paperwork ready before you call. They'll ask for claim numbers, dates, etc. 4. If you get a unhelpful person, hang up and try again. Some agents are way more helpful than others. 5. Email them too. Sometimes you can get a response that way. 6. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. It's a broken system, but you gotta play the game to get paid. Good luck!

•Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try emailing them. Didn't even know that was an option.

•Contacting your rep is solid advice. My cousin did that and suddenly her claim started moving again. Funny how that works 🙄

This is why we need to vote for better leadership. The whole system is a joke and nobody seems to care about fixing it.

•Preach! 🙌 But watch out, the mods might delete this for getting too political

Anyone else notice that their website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🤔

•OMG YES! It's like they time it perfectly for when I'm free to deal with this stuff 😤

Pro tip: if you can get through to someone, ask for a supervisor right away. The regular agents often don't have the authority to actually fix anything.

I'm in the same boat. Been waiting 7 weeks now. My landlord is breathing down my neck and I'm about to lose my apartment. This system is a joke.

•Check if your city has any rent assistance programs. Might help buy you some time while you wait for disability to get their act together.
