SDI Payment Delayed - Sent to Wrong Department, Need Help Getting Through!
I filed a claim for disability benefits and haven't received my payment yet. When I called, they told me I didn't reach the right department. Now I have to call back a different number. Has anyone else experienced this? It's so frustrating to wait on hold for hours only to be told you're in the wrong place. Any advice on how to get through to the correct department?

Ugh, classic government bureaucracy 🙄 I've been there too. It's like they purposely make it difficult to get help. Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

•Yeah, I tried the online portal but it just says 'pending' with no other info. Guess I'll have to brave the phone lines again 😩

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have a better chance of getting through quickly.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get it, but for me, it was worth not losing a whole day on hold. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Get the exact department name you need to reach. Write it down. 2. Call the main number and immediately ask for that specific department. 3. If they try to transfer you and you get disconnected, call back and ask for a 'warm transfer'. This means they'll stay on the line until you're connected. 4. Keep a log of every call - date, time, rep name, and what they told you. 5. If all else fails, contact your local state representative's office. They often have direct lines to these departments. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! 💪

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try the 'warm transfer' trick.

Plot twist: there is no 'right department'. It's all a conspiracy to make us give up and go back to work 🤡

Hey, former EDD employee here. The system is definitely overwhelmed, but here's a tip: if you can, try to find out the extension number for the department you need. Sometimes you can bypass the main menu this way. Also, be super nice to the reps - they're drowning in calls and a little kindness goes a long way.

•Thanks for the insider info! Any idea how to find those extension numbers?

•Unfortunately, they change pretty often. Your best bet is to ask the rep you talk to for the direct extension of the department you need. Not all will give it, but some might!
