SDI Delay: 6+ Weeks No Payment After Pregnancy Claim - Help!
I applied for SDI while pregnant, with my due date in late December. My baby arrived a few days early, and now it's been over 6 weeks since I filed my claim, but I haven't received any payments. I've already gone through the 7-day waiting period, but still nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what could be causing the delay or how I can get this resolved? I'm getting worried about finances and could really use some advice.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Have you tried checking your EDD account online? Sometimes there are pending issues that aren't communicated well.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've checked my online account, but everything looks normal. No pending issues or requests for additional info. It's so frustrating 😫

Maybe try calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel to get the grease 🛢️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. Used it myself last month when I was in a similar situation. Saved me hours of frustration.

Can confirm, it's real. Pricey, but worth it when you're desperate to talk to someone.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure you didn't miss any forms or signatures. 2. Call the SDI office first thing in the morning. Like, right when they open. 3. If you can't get through, try their online contact form. Be super detailed about your situation. 4. Reach out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help push things along. 5. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. This can be useful if you need to escalate. 6. Check if your employer submitted all the necessary info on their end. 7. Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but you'll get through eventually. Hang in there! I know it's tough, especially with a newborn, but you've got this! 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my assembly member - that's not something I would have thought of.

This is solid gold advice right here 💯 Especially the part about the assembly member. They can work miracles sometimes!

I'm in the exact same boat! Applied in November, had my baby in December, and still crickets from SDI. This system is so broken 😡

Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. It's so stressful! Have you had any luck getting through to anyone?

Nope, not yet. Feels like shouting into the void. But hey, misery loves company, right? 🙃

Pro tip: if you can't get thru on the main line, try calling one of the SDI branch offices. Sometimes they're less swamped and can actually help. Here's a list: [link removed]

3 months?! That's insane. How did you manage financially during that time?

Have you considered reaching out to a local news station? Sometimes public pressure can light a fire under these agencies. Just a thought! 🤔
