SDI claim filed, 7-day wait over, no benefits yet - Should I call EDD or wait?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI claim. I filed it and the 7-day waiting period is over, but I haven't seen any benefits yet. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm wondering if I should call them or just wait it out. What's been your experience with getting payments started after the waiting period?

I found a way to solve SDI claim payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTWoFq07WOQ

Ugh, I feel ya. I went through the same thing last month. It's frustrating af when you're counting on that money. Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes it updates there before you actually get the payment.

Checking online is definitely a good first step. I've found it can sometimes save you a call if you see the updates there first.

I heard that the government systems can be really old-school. Maybe they're upgrading soon? One can hope!

Have you checked your bank account? Sometimes the payment goes through without any notification. It's like a surprise party for your wallet šŸŽ‰šŸ’ø

Haha, I wish! I've been refreshing my bank app like a maniac. No surprise money yet šŸ˜

Plot twist: what if the benefits are like my dad? They said they were going out for cigarettes and never came back šŸš¬šŸ‘‹

I'm in the same boat, been waiting for 3 weeks now. Starting to feel like I'm fishing in an empty pond šŸŽ£ Anyone know if there's been any changes to the system recently?

3 weeks is a long wait. I would check in with them for sure. Haven't heard of any major changes lately.

Hey OP, I went through something similar, so I did some digging and found that patience, although hard, is crucial. The SDI system can sometimes be slow due to the volume of claims they process. If you haven't received any updates or payments after the 14-day post-waiting period, it's definitely time to contact them. In terms of reaching out, using services like Claimyr can indeed expedite the process of getting in touch with a representative. It's a reliable option as it queues for you and connects you directly, which can be a lifesaver during peak times. However, it costs $20, which might be a downside for some. Weigh your option whether saving time or saving money is more important to you at this point. On the other hand, methods like documenting all interactions and using traditional means like faxing can also work, albeit slower. Monitoring your online status and bank account closely is vital, as payments often reflect there before any formal communication. Hope this helps!

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds like im from the stone age, but sometimes old school methods work best with these dinosaur systems šŸ“

Faxing is actually still recommended by some agencies for official documents. It's quirky but it could work.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online status update. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve this. CYA is the name of the game when dealing with bureaucracy!

Call them ASAP! Don't wait around hoping it'll magically appear. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, ya know? šŸ”§

I've been there, buddy. Here's what you need to know about SDI claims and payments: ā€¢ The 7-day waiting period is unpaid, but benefits should start after that ā€¢ Payments are usually issued every two weeks ā€¢ First payment can take up to 14 days after the waiting period ā€¢ Make sure all your paperwork is in order (medical certification, etc.) ā€¢ If it's been more than 14 days, definitely reach out to them Don't panic if it's only been a few days after the waiting period. The system is slow, but it usually works... eventually. Keep us posted on what happens!

Thanks for the detailed info! It's been about 10 days since the waiting period ended. Guess I'll give it a few more days before I start freaking out šŸ˜…

This information is so helpful. It really breaks down what to expect, which can ease a lot of anxiety around waiting for benefits.

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. I used Claimyr and it did connect me faster during a really busy period. It's a bit pricey, but if you're desperate, it might be worth it.
